How to do LEC Summer Betting

The LEC 2022 season has already been an exciting one but now it’s time for the end-game. It’s also the perfect time to begin betting on one of the largest esports games in existence – League of Legends.

Not to fret; the LEC betting process isn’t complicated, even if you are a beginner. Those who already have experience betting on League of Legends can skip to the next section while those of you who are just starting – pay attention!

Firstly, you’ll need to find the esports betting operator that best suits your needs and wishes. Although most of them feature the same betting processes and characteristics, each is unique in one way or another.

The metrics you should look out for are potential esports betting bonuses (not all bookies offer esports bonuses), the odds offered on the LEC Summer Split, and the payment methods they accept.

Once you’ve found your chosen bookie, go through their registration and profile verification process to ensure you receive all the potential benefits and place bets without distractions. In most cases, this process takes less than 5 minutes to complete.

Set up your preferred payment method (PayPal, credit cards, Neteller, Skrill, Bitcoin, and other cryptocurrencies are the most supported payment methods) and begin researching the participating teams.

Be relatively thorough with the research; just because an esports organization is successful in other esports doesn’t mean they’re strong in this one. Take a look at recent player form as well. Once you’ve gathered sufficient information, you’ll be able to make fairly accurate bets. Remember – don’t rush and ease into the process!

Moneyline betting

Moneyline bets are simple and straightforward for those just starting out. If you’ve only started getting into LoL Esports, you will find moneyline bets as the go-to betting market. You simply pick the team you want to bet behind and name your price with this kind of bet. Of course, predicting an upset, wherein an underdog wins against a favoured opponent, will net you higher returns.

Prop betting (special bets)

Propositional betting is the next level for those who want to go beyond just putting their money on a match’s outcome. In prop betting, you bet on the occurrence or lack thereof of objectives being taken by the team of your choosing.

As an example, you can place these bets on Rivalry:

  • First team to destroy an inhibitor
  • First team to slay Baron Nashor
  • Team to secure first Tower
  • Team to secure First Blood

In prop betting, you can be a step ahead of the competition by studying how teams play. Since this kind of betting involves predicting the flow of a match, you have to analyze how opposing teams are going to play each other given their own playstyles.

For example, A team with a good early game has a higher probability of taking first tower and securing first blood. As compared to a team with a formidable mid-to-late game who is likely to give early objectives believing that they can stall out the game.

Total betting (over/under)

If you’ve heard of over/under in traditional betting, total betting works in the same way. In this kind of betting, you are asked to predict if the match will go over or under an in-game metric such as towers taken, dragons slain, and game time. For example, predicting whether G2 Esports versus Fnatic will take longer than 32 minutes.

Total betting can be compared to moneyline betting in the sense that it’s relatively straightforward. To do this, you can simply look at a team’s performance over the course of the competitive split and go from there. But before you confidently place your bets, always remember that players are just human at the end of the day. They can underperform compared to their ‘norm’ of play at any time.

In the playoffs, you’ll be able to bet on how far you think a series will go. As an example, you can predict that MAD Lions will 2-0 Rogue in the Quarterfinals by betting under the 2.5 map spread.

Handicap betting

Last but not least, there’s handicap betting. In this kind of betting, bookies even the playing field by opening up bets that need the winning team to win by a given margin to be considered a win. These usually mean winning by a game or two in a best-of series or being ahead by a number of kills in best-of-ones.

Despite how complicated it seems, handicap betting becomes trivial when you begin to understand how it works. As an example, Pinnacle explains that in order to win a +1.5 map handicap, the team you’re betting on needs to win at least one game in a best-of-three to win the bet. This makes handicap betting easy to profit off if you know what you’re doing.

But in the same way, betting on a -1.5 map handicap means that your team has to win two straight games to win the bet. As always, risk is the name of the game and if you predict it right, there’s a lot to be won in handicap betting.

As a side note, whoever wins on the Rift does not influence your winnings from handicap betting just like in total and prop betting.

LEC Summer Betting Tips

The LEC 2022 Summer Season is the end all be all for Europe. After a year of grinding, the Top 3 in the Summer Playoffs will be seeded to Worlds 2022. As tensions heighten, here are a few key reminders to go by to help you win in your LEC Summer betting adventure.

Bet with your brain, not your heart

It might feel right to place a bet on a team you’ve started liking but in reality, it’s best to keep betting and supporting teams (no matter the esports country they come from) separate. Betting is all about finesse, intelligence, and luck; there’s no need to incorporate another metric into it.

Expect upsets

League of Legends is a chaotic game and no matter how good a team plays, they can still be beaten. Whether another team defeats them through skill or by the team making mistakes, the sentiment stays the same – upsets are a regular occurrence in not just League of Legends, but esports as a whole. Devise your betting strategy accordingly.

Take it slow

There’s no need to rush your bets if you’re just starting out. The season is long and will most likely be filled with upsets or team changes so take your time before placing the bets you want.

What is the LEC Summer Split?

The LEC Summer Split is the second ‘regular season’ of the LEC yearly series. Teams would have finished the Spring Split and Spring Playoffs by now and are in the process of starting their venture in the Summer Split.

The teams are encouraged to compete at the highest level because what they do in this stage of the competition determines whether or not they will qualify for the LEC Summer Playoffs and, ultimately, the 2022 World Championship.

The LEC Summer Split will most likely last until September (to be confirmed), with the Regular Season finishing in August (to be confirmed) and the Summer Playoffs beginning at around the same time.

The teams will have more than enough time to gather as many victories as they can before finding out whether or not they’ll proceed to the Playoffs. The overall prize pool is the same as in previous seasons – 200,000 euros.

LEC Summer Split 2022 Teams

Favourites to Win the LEC Summer Split

G2 Esports

G2 Esports may not be the best team when it comes to international stages, but they have been the dominant force in the LEC since it was rebranded in 2019. G2 has consistently finished first or in the top three finishing positions of virtually all LoL tournaments they entered.

2021 was a rocky season with the team failing to qualify for Worlds 2021 due to finishing 3rd and 4th in LEC Spring 2021 and LEC Summer 2021, respectively. However, they seem to have found their footing once more and are most definitely the favourites to win the LEC 2022 Summer Split.

Rogue

Rogue joined the LEC in 2019 when the EU.LCS competitive league was rebranded into LEC. They have been a team that starts their season slow but turns into a behemoth in the second, decimating the opposition.

In 2019, they finished 4th in LEC Summer 2019. 2020 was a similar story – 3rd in LEC Summer 2020. But 2021 is when the team truly popped off and started putting in some impressive performances. Second and third in LEC Spring and LEC Summer 2021, respectively. And, with a 2nd place finish in LEC Spring 2022, they are also one of the favourites to win.

Fnatic

Fnatic have been a staple name in esports for two decades. As for their League of Legends esports career, they are the first team to win the LoL World Championship back in 2011. Since then, the team has gone through its ups and downs but are now a worthy opponent.

Their recent competitive years have always seen them at the top but unfortunately, the team hasn’t quite managed to win a tournament since 2018. Still, many fans are hopeful that Fnatic’s time is finally here and with the LEC Summer Split at their disposal, they have one last chance to make an impact in 2022.

Where to Watch the LEC Summer Split 2022 Live

You can watch the LEC live on Twitch and YouTube from Fridays to Saturdays. Additionally, you can also watch the matches on the official LoL Esports website live stream.

Esports Betting Pro: Our Verdict

There’s no doubt that the LEC Summer Split in 2022 will be incredibly entertaining and inviting to fans and bettors alike. Although there are three main teams that most people think will win, we can also expect some surprising results.

As for LEC Summer betting, it may be best to wait for a competitive week or two and see how the teams are fairing right now. The pause between the Spring Playoffs and the beginning of the Summer Regular Season could have strengthened – or weakened them.

FAQ

LEC Summer Betting FAQs

We recommend Betway for moneyline bets, Vulkanbet for prop and total bets, and Pinnacle for handicap betting! If none of these suit you, then any of the bookies we mentioned at the beginning of this article will suffice.

LEC stands for League of Legends European Championship and it’s the yearly competitive season hosted by Riot Games for the European esports scene. Teams that compete in the LEC pay for their spots (and are considered partners of the league) and they can also qualify for MSI (Mid-Season Invitational) and the World Championship.

Match winner bets are ideal because they’re fairly easy to win but they do require some finesse since you’ll most likely want to combine a couple of these bets into one betting slip. Alternatively, you could try with outrights by betting on the favourites to win the LEC Summer Regular Season; the three teams we mentioned in this article as favourites have the highest potential to finish first, but anything can happen. Lastly, you may want to try your hand with special bets but a word of note – they are very fun but risky. Be mindful when placing special bets!

Currently, G2 Esports and Rogue are considered to be the best teams in the LEC with Fnatic closing in behind them. The truth is that any of these three teams could win it due to their consistency and strength in the game.

The LEC Summer Split starts on the 17th of June, 2022, with the first pairing being that of Team Vitality and MAD Lions.
