How To Start Six Invitational Betting

Whether you’re a pro punter or just starting your Six Invitational betting career, this guide is the perfect place to start. Rainbow Six Siege is one of the most popular esports games in the world and as such, the betting process has been streamlined. Most of the process will be very similar to how you’d place bets on other games, but there are still a couple of unique characteristics associated with Rainbow Six betting.

So, let’s  take a look at what you need to do before placing your bets on R6S esports tournaments.

  1. Settle for a betting operatorEsports bookies come in all shapes and sizes so it’s important to take your time comparing them, analysing their pros and cons, and choosing the one(s) that fit your needs best. Take a look at their odds, betting markets, supported payment methods, and whether or not an esports betting bonus is on the cards. You don’t have to spend too much time on this step because most top-of-the-line bookies are only slightly different from each other.
  2. Create your account – This is necessary if you want to bet on esports. But don’t worry; the process is nothing complicated and can usually be completed in a couple of minutes. Simply enter your real-life information, choose an email address and password, and verify your account by using the confirmation link that the bookie sends to your email address.
  3. Set up your preferred payment method – Payment method support is very important; some people use the most popular payment methods (PayPal, Skrill, credit cards, or Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies), while others prefer different methods (usually based on where they live). Your chosen bookie should support your payment method because otherwise, you won’t be able to deposit any money into your account.
  4. Research Rainbow Six Siege esports – The Six Invitational is the largest Rainbow Six esports tournament in its esports calendar, so going in blind is simply not a good idea. You will have to do some research on the competing esports teams, their players, and even the countries the teams are from to get an idea of who to bet on. For this step, you can use VODs to watch how some previous tournaments/matches unfolded and to get a feel for the game's pace.
  5. Place your bets – Now that you've done your due diligence, you are now ready to start Six Invitational betting! However, one word of advice – don’t rush into it. Even if you’ve done the research and are sure of your chances, it’s best to take things slow, at least in the first few days of the tournament. This will also give you a chance to learn how prepared the teams are, based on their initial performances in the tournament.

Six Invitational Betting Markets/Options

Most esports betting operators offer a wide variety of betting markets, especially for prestigious tournaments such as the Six Invitational. However, this might be too complex for new punters, so we’ve decided to talk a bit about the most popular betting markets that are also beginner-friendly:

  • Outrights: Outrights are generally the most popular betting market because of how easy they are to understand and due to their high payout potential. However, they are also the riskiest and most difficult to get right. In simple terms, all you have to do is choose a team you believe will win the entire tournament and place a bet on them.
  • Match Winner: While match-winner bets are also highly popular but less risky than outrights, this also means their payout (and odds) are fairly low. In essence, you’d place a bet on the team you think will win the matchup against the other team. These bets are often placed together to create a betting slip. This means you’ll win more because the odds will be higher, but this comes at the price of your winning chances since you will only win if all the match-winner bets are correct.
  • Most Kills: Usually popular in FPS and MOBA games, this is a pretty self-explanatory betting market. Bookies sometimes offer good odds since you’ll have to choose one player out of 10 in a matchup that you think will have the most kills. There’s also an advanced version of this bet that involves punters betting on players they believe will have the most kills after the tournament is over. Extremely good odds, but challenging to get right.
  • First Blood: As far as this betting market is concerned, it isn’t quite as popular as the others, but you’ll get good odds. It’s also an intriguing type of betting market because getting the first kill in a match isn’t really related to skill but luck, tactics, and proper team play.
  • Special Bets: Special bets are a specific betting market that often offers bets not seen in other categories – for example, ‘Will Team A manage to save the hostages?’. They have great odds but can be tough to get right due to their nature.

What Is the Six Invitational?

The Six Invitational is a Rainbow Six esports event held on an annual basis. It is the ultimate challenge for all competing teams, seeing how the majority of them qualify by gathering enough SI (Six Invitational) points.

SI points are given to teams based on their performances in other Rainbow Six Siege tournaments. Qualifying is a year-long affair and basically the culmination of the teams' hard work in 12 months, thus requiring them to be consistent.

The Six Invitational 2023 tournament will be the 7th iteration of the event, with the first being hosted in 2017. Since then, the number of participating teams and the prize pool both grew, which increased the tournament’s legitimacy and prestige. This year, the event will return with a live audience, and is heading to Montreal, Canada.

At this point in time, it is the most anticipated Rainbow Six Siege esports tournament of the year and the one where most R6S punters prefer to place their bets.

Six Invitational 2023 Participating Teams

The Six Invitational 2023 will have 20 participating teams, 16 of which will qualify by global standings (based on total SI points), while the other four will qualify through the regional qualifier events.

The full list of participating teams has been confirmed:

Now that all the participating teams are confirmed, let’s take a look at the current two favourites to win:

w7m esports

W7m esports joined the Rainbow Six bubble in 2020 and have since gone from complete beginners to hardened professionals with a realistic chance of winning the Six Invitational.

In fact, this team’s 2022 season has been relatively good so far, especially in recent months. They finished 4th in the Six Berlin Major 2022 and won the Brasileirão 2022 season. They have the most SI points out of all teams and can be a pain for even the strongest organisations.

Their current roster consists of:

  • HerdsZ
  • Kheyze
  • Jv92
  • volpz
  • Julio

DarkZero Esports

DarkZero Esports is a chaotic, inconsistent team that is capable of producing some truly memorable performances. For starters, they finished a lowly 5th in the NAL Season 2022 stage 3 and 2 tournaments, and an acceptable 3rd in stage 1.

However, between stage 1 and 2, DarkZero Esports managed to win the Six Charlotte Major 2022 tournament, defeating Astralis 3:2 in the finals and taking home $200,000. They can be quite a difficult team to go through because they often change strategies, but this also makes them prone to mistakes. Having said that, they are an exciting team to watch and definitely have the chance to win the Six Invitational.

Their current roster is as follows:

  • Ecl9pse
  • njr
  • Panbazou
  • Canadian
  • Skys

Six Invitational 2023 Tournament Format

As the tournament is still some time away from happening, the organisers haven’t yet released information surrounding the format. However, there hasn’t been any news regarding changes to it so we can assume it will be the same as last year’s. It is as follows:

Group Stage:

  • Round-robin format groups
    • 4 groups with 5 teams each
    • All teams play against each other once
    • Every match is a Bo3
  • 1st-placed teams from each group continue to the Upper Bracket Round 2 of the Playoffs.
  • 2nd and 3rd-placed teams from each group continue to the Upper Bracket Round 1 of the Playoffs.
    • 2nd-placed teams choose their Playoff opponents from the 3rd-placed teams from any group other than their own.
    • Pick order is determined by the overall scores of all 2nd-place finishers.
  • The bottom team of each group is eliminated from the tournament
  • All remaining teams continue to the Lower Bracket of the Playoffs.

Playoffs:

  • Double-elimination bracket
  • Every match is a Bo3 (except the Grand Final)
  • Grand Final is a Bo5

Prize Pool Distribution

While we do not yet have information about the size of the prize pool, we do know what the SI (Six Invitational) points distribution will look like.

In terms of the prize pool itself, last year’s event featured $3,000,000 in prize money, so we can expect the same or similar amount for this year’s tournament.

Where To Watch the Six Invitational

There are three ways of watching the Six Invitational tournament live, the first being watching the games on the official Ubisoft website. Otherwise, you can tune in on the action by watching either the live stream on the official Rainbow 6 Twitch channel or the stream on their YouTube channel.

Summary

The Six Invitational is the most prestigious Rainbow Six tournament out there, featuring some of the best teams in the world. It lasts around two weeks, offering plenty of action to both watch and bet on!

Take the time and do your research. Be prepared for when the tournament starts so you can kick off your Six Invitational betting adventure in style (plus, you’ll maximise your chances this way). Good luck and have fun!

The 2022 Six Invitational was won by Team SoloMid after they defeated Team Empire 3:1 in the Grand Finals.

The tournament organisers haven’t yet released info on the tournament location. Sit tight, we will update this section as soon as they do!

Currently (until we see the rest of the teams), w7m esports and DarkZero Esports are the favourites to win the tournament.

If you’re just starting out, we’d recommend playing match-winner bets. These are the easiest and, although they don’t have high odds in most cases, they’re perfect for bringing you into the Rainbow Six betting world.

Alternatively, if you want a challenge, outrights or first-blood bets are a good choice. Just make sure not to rush with these.
