How to Bet on the RLCS Winter Major

For those of you who have absolutely no experience with betting on Rocket League or other esports, here’s what the process of placing online bets looks like:

  1. First up, you’ll need to set up an account at an online esports betting site. There are a whole lot of options out there so take your time and choose a good one.
  2. The process won’t take too long, but you will have to use your real data (name, address, etc) as you will have to confirm your identity later on (or even during the registration process, on some platforms).
  3. After registering, you’ll have to deposit some money into your betting account. The initial deposit is often connected to the registration process. Some bookies won’t even let you register without depositing some funds.
  4. If you don’t have an online payment method set up yet, now is the time to do so. Head on over to our online payment methods guide for more information on how to set everything up.
  5. After depositing some funds into your betting bankroll, it’s time to place your bets. First task – head on over to the esports category and locate Rocket League betting options.
  6. Now that you’ve found RLCS Winter Major betting odds, choose the matches/bets you’re interested in and select your picks.
  7. One last thing is needed to wrap the deal up – stake. Enter the stake (amount of money you’d like to bet) and confirm your bet.
  8. That’s all you need to do to start Rocket League esports betting!

Betting on Rocket League is legal, don’t worry, but only if you’re using licensed bookmakers. If you’re looking for such sites, make sure you give our favorites a go.

Outright Winner Odds for RLCS Betting

Team Liquid9.00
G2 Esports10.00
Complexity Gaming12.00
Oxygen Esports12.00
Team Vitality12.00

By referring to the table above, you can find the top ten teams according to betting sites that have the highest chance of going all the way and lifting the RLCS Winter Major 2023 trophy. Alongside these teams, there are six more teams attending who do not stand that high of a chance hence why we did not mention them.

Tips for RLCS Betting

If you still don’t feel ready to place RLCS bets, here are three tips to help you hit the ground running:

Learn the Basics

Believe it or not, there are still people who’ve never placed an online bet in their life. If you’re among them, worry not because it’s not nuclear science. The biggest mistake most people do is invest a large sum of money without really knowing how things work in the online esports betting sphere.

Don’t make that mistake. That’ll just leave you with a hefty dent in your wallet and a blank experience from which you didn’t really learn anything valuable.

You should do things the proper way. You should learn about the basics of betting. You should learn about how bonuses work, what’s the best time to place bets, and how to get the most value out of the available betting markets and utilizing betting strategies.

This won’t be an overnight thing, but with perseverance, we’re sure you’ll see improvements!

Recent Results

Obviously, recent results paint a proper picture of every RLCS team. Form is one of the most important aspects of the game, with one dominating performance pulling others to its side. One poor display and your tempo will fall off and you’ll risk others catching up to you.

That’s the story of RLCS teams – even though games aren’t won on paper, the paper trail will tell you a lot about the complexity of each match. So, if you’re serious about your RLCS betting habits, you need to stay on top of recent results… If not for the entire league, then at least for the region/teams you’re most interested in.

Paying Attention to Roster Alterations

Roster alterations in Rocket League tend to drastically skew the image of a team. By image, we’re not talking about their reputation but their roster composition. Rocket League is a 3v3 game and if one piece of the puzzle resigns, others will feel… incomplete.

If you want to be a successful Rocket League betting enthusiast, you need to stay on top of everything that’s going on in the scene. Yes, staying up to speed on the recent results is important… but so is staying on top of transfers and RLCS news in general. That’s what tends to separate winners from losers in this hobby.

History of RLCS Winners

If you’d like to bet on Rocket League Winter Major, you need to know more about its history. Year in and year out, it’s one of the game’s most prestigious events, with players dreaming of winning the lucrative title. Sure, it wasn’t typically called World Championship but simply Finals, but the gist has remained the same.

It’s charming, it’s lucrative… and my oh my is it a real fly trap for esports betting enthusiasts. Rocket League betting isn’t as popular as other esport titles. But during the RLCS events there’s always an extra pop to the quantity (and quality) of available betting options.

Here’s what you need to know when it comes to past iterations of RLCS World Championship events:

EventLocationWinnerPrize PoolDates
Season 1 FinalsLos AngelesiBUYPOWER Cosmic$55,000Apr – Aug 2016
Season 2 FinalsAmsterdamFlipsideTactics$125,000Oct – Dec 2016

Season 8 FinalsMadridNRG Esports$529,500Oct – Dec 2019

Season 9 and X didn’t have their equivalent of Finals. That’s probably why the folks over at Psyonix and Epic Games decided to give the first post-break tournament a brand-new name, World Championship.

Now that you know how the finals concluded in recent years, it is time to move on and provide an overview for each region. There are two top regions battling it out in Rocket League esports, that being Europe and North America. This is why we want to offer you tables consisting of past winners for RLCS events in both regions. Without further ado, let’s get straight into it.

Where to Watch RLCS Winter Major 2023?

You can watch Rocket League esports action live on their Twitch channel. If you’re a hardcore RL esports fan, what are you waiting for, that channel has a ton of content just waiting for you. For enthusiasts that are not a fan of Twitch, Rocket League put in place a YouTube channel for live streaming the event as well.

It is also very important to touch base on Rocket League fan rewards. In late 2022, Psyonix Studios made some changes regarding the rewards. Keep in mind that now, you will have to link your Twitch account to the Epic Games account in order to be eligible for drops. For more information about Rocket League fan rewards, refer to the official Rocket League esports website.

RLCS Winter Major 2023 Favorites to Win

Gen.G

At the time of writing, Gen.G are the biggest favourites to go all the way and lift the Winter Major trophy. It is important for you to know that Gen.G esports acquired the former Stormtroopers rosters, and currently, they are fielding these players:

  • Jack “ApparentlyJack” Benton
  • Nick “Chronic” Iwanski
  • Joseph “noly” Kidd
    • Noe “Pollo” C. (Substitute)
    • Braxton “Allushin” Lagarec (Coach)

If you are wondering why Gen.G are the biggest favourites, it's because of their recent form. Alongside winning RLCS Fall Split Major back in 2022, Gen.G had success in the regional scene during the NA Regional 1 – Winter Open where they sealed the #1 place yet again.

But, they have been on the decline in recent weeks. After dropping NA Regional 2 – Winter Cup to FaZe Clain, they did not show much in the Winter Invitational either. Once again, FaZe Clan got the better of them in a one-sided affair.

In our books, Gen.G is fielding some of the best Rocket League esports players out there. They definitely have what it takes to go all the way and win RLCS Winter Major. To be fair, the odds are more than rewarding and for a small bet, it is definitely worth placing a wager on this team.

FaZe Clan

FaZe Clan has been winning matches left, right, and center. Right now, they seem unstoppable and it is going to be interesting to see whether they will be able to keep up their run going. Here is the roster FaZe Clan is bringing to the table:

  • Jason “Firstkiller” Corral
  • Caden “Sypical” Pellegrin
  • Nick “mist” Costello
    • Raul “Roll Dizz” Diaz (Coach)

When it comes to recent results, there is no one better than FaZe Clan. After placing 3rd at the RLCS 2021-22 World Championship, they bounced back by winning NA Regional 1 – Fall Open. However, they once again slipped on the big stage by placing 3rd at the Fall Split Major.

Once they returned to the regional scene, they were a force to be reckoned with. Firstly, they won NA Regional 2 – Winter Cup. On top of that, they completely stomped G2 Esports at the grand final of NA Regional 3 – Winter Invitational.

All in all, FaZe Clan won five straight matches and they are looking better than ever. In recent outings, they barely received any goals and their offense looked spectacular. The only problem FaZe Clan is running into is the “big stage” pressure. If they can sort this out before Winter Major 2023 starts, they will definitely be one of the favourites to lift the trophy.

Karmine Corp

There are no ifs and buts regarding Karmine Corp being the best Rocket League esports team in the world. Ever since making roster changes back in late 2022, Karmine Corp looked solid. Here is the line-up:

  • Amine “itachi” Benayachi
  • Axel “vatira.” Touret
  • Brice “ExoTiiK” Bigeard
    • Benjamin “Eversax” Wagner (Coach)

Vatira. Has been known for his offensive skills. For his efforts, he received the Fall Major Offensive MVP award and that says a lot about how good he is. Right now, Karmine Corp is having their way in the European region by winning both Winter Open and Winter Cup.

However, it is important to mention that they fell short in a real nail-biter against Team Liquid during the EU Regional 3 – Winter Invitational, where they suffered a 4-3 defeat. To be honest, we can’t find a reason why Karmine Corp is the third most favored team to win RLCS Winter Major. The fact is, they will make it to the playoffs relatively easily, but Rocket League is not just about offense and they will learn it the hard way.

Team Liquid

In recent months, Team Liquid picked up the pace and they are looking really good. With the roster they are fielding, most punters and enthusiasts are expecting big results, and where better to prove it as RLCS Winter Major awaits? Here is the team Team Liquid is sending to represent them at the Major:

  • Bruno “AcroniK.” Lopes
  • Oskar “Oski” Gozdowski
  • Tristan “Atow.” Soyez
    • Andre “Xpere” Ruivinho (Coach)

As we mentioned above, Team Liquid had a solid start to 2023. Firstly, they placed second at the EU Regional 2 – Winter Cup. A couple of weeks later, they have been crowned the Winter Invitational champions as they defeated Karmine Corp in a tense match where they showed excellent passion and cohesion.

If you believe that Team Liquid is going to evolve even further, betting sites are providing very high odds for them winning Winter Major. By placing a wager on AcroniK. and his squad, you can multiply your wager 9 times!

G2 Esports

There is a weird aura with G2 Esports and major Rocket League tournaments. The fact is, this roster has been unchanged for quite some time now and there is no one better at teamwork and synergy than them. Here is what the roster looks like:

  • Jacob “JKnaps” Knapman
  • Reed “Chicago” Wilen
  • Massimo “Atomic” Francheschi
    • Matthew “Satthew” Ackermann (Coach)

Here are a couple of interesting facts regarding G2 Esports. First and foremost, this team did not show up and offered much in any of the regional events they played. They were battered by top contenders such as Gen.G and FaZe Clan.

However, the big-stage results are something else for this team. Placing 2nd at the RLCS 2021-22 World Championship and winning Winter SPlit Major back in 2022 tells a lot about the capabilities this team has. Even though they are in a slump right now, we believe that they can bounce back from it and perform to their full potential during the Winter Major.

If you are looking for a potential dark horse in order to make your RLCS Winter Major 2023 experience much more interesting, then we would suggest you place a small wager on G2 as you are provided with a chance to multiply your initial wager ten times.

Summary

With the RLCS Winter Major just around the corner, we believe that here, you found all the necessary information to make profitable bets.

Despite Rocket League not being as popular as some other esports MOBA and FPS titles, we believe that RLCS betting provides an excellent way for both punters and casual fans to join in on the action.

There are plenty of teams to bet on, and if you decide to test things out and wager some money on the tournament winners, make sure you refer to our review of five RLCS Winter Major favorites in order to get the most bang for your buck.
