How to Bet on ESL Pro League 16?

The ESL Pro League is already one of the largest and most prestigious CSGO tournaments out there – but it’s also a ‘feeder’ series for the BLAST Premier World Finals. The latter will occur in December 2022 and will close out this esports game’s competitive season.

The betting environment has never been better with the 2022 CSGO esports season kicking off in style with IEM Katowice 2022 and continuing with EPL 15. And now, the ESL Pro League Season 16 will begin soon, providing punters the perfect opportunity to place some efficient bets. This is how it goes:

  1. Settle down on a betting operator – Each betting operator is unique in its own right and offers personalized betting odds and betting markets on occasion. Before you make a choice, make sure to compare all of this information as it will be relevant once you start placing bets.
  2. Create an account – Most betting operators don’t require any special information during registration; you will, however, need to input your real-life information, especially if you want to get a betting bonus or two once they become available.
  3. Choose a payment method – All bookies support the two major payment methodsPayPal and credit cards. Most of them will also offer Bitcoin for depositing and withdrawing winnings while some support dozens of various less-used payment methods.
  4. Research the teams, players, and ESL Pro League – Your bets are only as good as the facts behind them so to maximize your chances of winning, you’ll need to equip yourself with the relevant knowledge – in this case, the intricacies of the EPL.
  5. Place your bets and enjoy the show – Once you’re certain that you have enough info about the tournament, go ahead and place a couple of bets that you feel are good. You should also watch live streams as some bookies allow in-play (or live) betting.

ESL Pro League Betting Guide

Now that you’ve prepared your account for betting, it’s time to get into the nitty-gritty behind ESL Pro League betting.

ESL Pro League Betting Markets

  • Outright Winner – This is the most common and straightforward bet where you predict the team you believe will win the ESL Pro Season 16.
  • Map Winner – Predict who will win a certain map. This is not an easy bet to make but if you have watched both teams and understand their strengths and weaknesses on particular maps, then you easily predict who will win.
  • Total Rounds per Map – The bet will be on the over/under of the total number of rounds to be played. A map can end with a score of 16-13, 16-0, or 31-28. This is a broad range that offers numerous betting possibilities.
  • Correct Score – Predict the team that will win the best-of-three or best-of-five. In addition to the correct score for each team, you can also bet on the exact number of rounds or the number of maps that will be played.
  • Pistol Round Winner – The Pistol Round is the first round of each Half of a Map. This bet requires you to predict which of the two teams will win the first round of each Half of a Map.
  • Special Bets – These are unique bets that each betting operator creates individually. There are overlaps but most are either event-specific or game-specific. They can include whether there’ll be a knife kill, if there’ll be overtime, and more.

ESL Pro League Betting Odds

Overall, when it comes to the ESL Pro League, you can expect some pretty balanced odds across the board. The tournament itself features plenty of strong teams from various esports countries so there’s also a dose of anticipation as there is rarely a weak team participating.

The odds that aren’t as good as the rest can be found in the match-winner and map-winner betting markets – these can have weak odds, especially if a team is a clear favorite. So always make sure to give yourself ample time to place viable bets and not rush anything.

ESL Pro League Statistics

As with most CSGO tournaments, these are the stats you should look out for and keep in mind when you’re placing bets. This information will make your betting experience better considering you’ll be able to place potentially winning odds more accurately.

So for starters, you want to take a look at map winning percentage, team performance (kills, assists, deaths), and pistol round wins. These are predominantly team stats. Now, the player stats that are important are kills, assists, deaths, K/D ratio, and percentage of headshots.

On top of that, ESL Pro League betting is excellent due to most betting markets featuring some or all of these stats as well. You can rest easy knowing there are dozens of choices for you to make!

Tips for ESL Pro League Betting

Understand the Odds

It is important to do your due diligence before placing your wagers. This includes understanding the odds available and comparing with several bookmakers to take advantage of the best odds. Lastly, you also need to have background information on the teams you are willing to bet on.

Take Into Account Previous Performance

Although the odds of a team winning may be impressive, it is important to have other statistical insight to understand the teams that are favoured to win. Some of these statistics include ESL World Rankings, team form, previous match results, and fixture history among others.

Understand the Team’s Style of Playing

While watching matches, take note of how a team goes about a match. Which player is assigned a specific role and what is his success rate? This is important because you want to see whether or not a player is sticking to the playstyle or being selfish, ultimately hurting his team.

Balance Risk Versus Reward

Ideally, you need to understand the ‘real’ odds for a match. In most cases betting on a favourite with the odds of 1.2 means that if you bet $100, you will only receive $20 as profit. On the other hand, betting on an underdog can also be profitable. Let’s say that the team's odds of winning are 20%, but from your research, they have shown much improvement in recent matches. Betting on them in this case will bring you more profit, even if the odds don’t reflect the team’s improvement!

Play the Game

Ultimately, the best way to find out which bets are the most profitable is to play the game. Once you start playing, you’ll begin to understand each team’s playstyle as well as important in-game callouts that might have eluded you prior to playing the game. CSGO is not a complicated game and it’s generally very easy to learn so playing it for even a small amount will give you a betting advantage.

What is the ESL Pro League?

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was first released in 2012 by Valve Corporation and Hidden Path Entertainment. It is one of the most promising games in the first-person shooter (FPS) genre and, over the years, it has become one of the most popular esports games. Here’s the most recent trailer that ESL has released (it involves EPL 15).

The ESL Pro League was established in May 2015 by the renowned esports organizer ESL Pro Gaming. And, ever since ESL Pro League Season 11 there have been two seasons every single year. The organization also introduced Partner Teams; esports organizations that have teams in permanent spots in the EPL.

The partnered teams are the majority stakeholders in the ESL Pro League and they enjoy the privilege of getting a direct invitation. The current prize pool for the ESL Pro League Season 16 is $835,000 and the winner will be awarded $175,000. On top of that, each team will get an extra $5,000 for every group stage win they can muster.

In essence, the EPL rewards teams for continuous strong performances and consistency, something we don’t often see in esports. As such, each team will have to play to the utmost of their ability which provides us, the viewers and punters, a lot of entertainment.

CSGO EPL History

The CSGO EPL has been around for 7 years and a total of 15 tournaments have been held. One could say that CSGO’s history is rich with unfathomable performances and victories coming from even some underdogs.

So this is what the event’s history looks like over the past 2 years:

ESL Pro League 16 Tournament Format

The EPL 16 tournament format is exactly the same as it was in the previous competitive season. The format itself is intriguing and perfect for this type of CSGO esports event and is as follows:

Group Stage:

  • 4 single round-robin groups
    • Each group contains 6 teams
    • All teams play each other once
    • Matches are Bo3
  • 1st placed teams advance to the Quarterfinals
  • 2nd and 3rd placed teams advance to the Round of 12

Playoffs:

  • Single-elimination format bracket
  • Matches are Bo3
  • Grand Final is Bo5

EPL 16 Prize Pool

The ESL Pro League Season 16 has a hefty prize pool; one that’s larger than any previous ESL Pro League tournament. As such, teams will participate to win their share of the $823,000 provided by ESL. The distribution of prize money is as follows:

Placement Amount BLAST Premier Points
1st $175,000 2800
2nd $70,000 1400
3rd-4th $35,000 875
5th-8th $17,500 262.5
9th-12th $12,000 /
13th-16th $9,000 /
17th-20th $7,500 /
21st-24th $6,000 /

Another crucial bit of information here is that the winning team will automatically qualify for the BLAST World Final 2022 and IEM Katowice 2023, so there’s a lot to play for in the EPL 16 CSGO tournament.

EPL 16 features some of the strongest CSGO esports teams on the planet. With a total of 24 teams participating in the Main Stage, there’s sure to be action aplenty throughout the event. Out of those 24 teams, 15 are considered permanent partner teams, with 9 qualifying through various events.

Here’s the entire list of the teams competing in the main EPL 16 event (the main stage).

FaZe Clan

FaZe Clan’s CSGO has been a bouncy one, with consistent ups and downs throughout the years. They were very strong a few years back and then they fell off, but in 2022, the team has been tearing through most opposing teams.

They won ESL Pro League 15, PGL Major Antwerp, and IEM XVII Cologne in the span of three months. However, they also weren’t stellar in IEM XVII Dallas and BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2022.

Nonetheless, they’re one of the strongest participating teams in the ESL Pro League Season 16 and are fully capable of coming out on top. Their current roster consists of rain, broky, Twistzz, karrigan, and ropz.

Natus Vincere

NaVi’s active roster of s1mple, electroNic, Perfecto, and b1t have been together for around a year and a half, with the newest addition of sdy joining the team in June 2022. This team was the dominant force in 2021 winning all but three S-Tier tournaments.

2022 signaled a change thanks to the rise of FaZe Clan but the team is still going strong, especially after winning the BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2022. In IEM XVII Cologne, they lost to FaZe Clan in the finals with a final score of 2:3.

They are one of the favourites to win this event, alongside FaZe Clan and Cloud9. There is no doubt, however, that they will cause headaches to most other participating teams.

Cloud9

Finally, we have Cloud9. This team has always been in the shadow of other teams such as Astralis, NaVi, and FaZe Clan, but in 2022, they managed to reach rank 3 in the global standings.

You wouldn’t expect this judging by their past results (that weren’t spectacular), but somewhat surprisingly, Cloud9 won the IEM XVII Dallas event by beating ENCE 3:0 in the finals. They also finished 3rd in the Roobet Cup after losing to eventual champions BIG.

Cloud9’s current roster of nafany, sh1ro, interz, Ax1Le, and HObbit joined the team on the 24th of April 2022, and have looked pretty strong together. Being the third best team in the world, they are also one of the favourites to win EPL 16.

Where to Watch ESL Pro League 16 Live

You can watch the ESL Pro League Season 16 through one of two main streaming mediums. The first choice is by visiting the official ESL website; alternatively, you can take a look at ESL’s official Twitch channel if that is the streaming provider you prefer.

Esports Betting Pro: Our Verdict

The ESL Pro League Season 16 is an excellent opportunity for you to bet on your favourite team. What makes this season even more fun is the fact that the competition will be offline (the power of fans should never be underestimated!) but we’ve yet to find out where the event will be hosted.

Everything is ready for the showdown to begin. Remember to not make rash decisions and wait until the right moment arrives to place your bets. The CSGO competitive scene in 2022 has been exceptional so far and we’re in for even more superb esports events throughout the year.

ESL Pro League Season 16 Betting FAQs

We have provided a list of recommendable ESL Pro League Season 16 betting sites among which 1xBet, bet365, and GG.BET are excellent choices.

ESL Pro League Season 15 was won by FaZe Clan who were one of the favourites to win while ENCE came in second place.

There will be 24 teams competing this season in the main event so there’ll be plenty of action and matches to place your ESL Pro League Season 16 bets on.

In general, the betting markets that can bring you potentially huge winnings are outrights and special bets. However, keep in mind that these can be difficult to get right so you shouldn’t simply put all your eggs in one basket. Match or map-winner bets are easier to get right and can have some pretty good odds, depending on the matchups.

The winners of the previous iteration of the ESL Pro League, FaZe Clan, are also considered the favourites in this event. However, they aren’t the only strong team and many analysts have predicted that there are two more teams with the potential to win the tournament – Natus Vincere and Cloud9.
