Who Are Team KOI Esports?

KOI is a Spanish organisation that was formed by Gerard Piqué and Ibai Llanos, a Spanish esports caster. Despite being new, the team has already competed in a couple of esports tournaments, albeit B-Tier or lower.

Nonetheless, Team KOI looks fairly solid judging by their rosters, so there’s definitely potential for greatness. They’ve also attracted a lot of fans that are hopeful about the team’s future in esports.

It’s also worth noting that the KOI organisation already has four teams for four different esports games, namely VALORANT, League of Legends, Rocket League, and Rainbow Six Siege. Their VALORANT and LoL rosters seem to be the strongest of the bunch, with the League of Legends team featuring players from five different countries: Denmark, South Korea, Sweden, Greece, and Poland.

It’s already evident that, although they’re a Spanish organisation, KOI is supportive of multi-nationalist rosters and are more focused on player strength than making communication easy by getting five players from the same country. Whether this will be a benefit or a drawback remains to be seen.

Team History

Because the KOI organisation is so young, there’s not a lot of history behind them. VALORANT and League of Legends are the only games they have actively competed in, while their Rocket League and Rainbow Six competitive histories are empty for the time being.

When it comes to VALORANT, they have competed in three B-Tier tournaments and three Qualifiers. Their first truly competitive outing was in VRL 2022 Spain: Rising Stage 1, where they finished 3rd. Three months after that event came VRL 2022 Spain: Rising Stage 2. This time, they were eliminated in the Group Stage.

Finally, Team KOI participated in the LVP Crossfire Cup, where they grabbed another 3rd-place finish. Other than that, there’s not much to note about their VALORANT history.

League of Legends isn’t a much different story in all aspects compared to VALORANT. They competed in Superliga Spring 2022, Superliga Summer 2022, and the Iberian Cup 2022. Team KOI finished 4th, 4th, and 3rd, respectively.

However, it seems that they will be a force to be reckoned with, seeing how they merged with Rogue and basically inherited the entire roster (except for Szygenda). Based on this, KOI has high chances of doing very well in the next season of the LEC.

This brings us to KOI’s most valuable player signings:

What Games Do Team KOI Compete in?

At the moment, Team KOI is active in four different esports games — VALORANT, LoL, Rocket League, and R6S. The organisation will probably expand the number of teams they have, but past experiences dictate that this would only happen if the current teams become successful.

VALORANT

VALORANT was the second game they began competing in, following their League of Legends roster’s foray into the Superliga. Virtually their entire roster is new, with four players joining the organisation on the same day: koldamenta, Sheydos, trexx, and Wolfen. The fifth player to join is starxo, who joined the squad on the 4th of January 2023.

Seeing how all five players are new, there is no basis with which we can predict how well this team is going to play. Nonetheless, fans are hopeful that this fresh roster will bring some glory to the organisation.

League of Legends

Many KOI supporters believe that the League of Legends team is their best bet at esports glory and bringing even more attention to the org. And, with such a strong roster (inherited from Rogue after KOI merged with them), it might actually come to pass.

Malrang, Larssen, Comp, and Trymbi working together toward a common goal — just like in the good old days when Rogue always managed to pull some incredible performances out of nowhere. And Szygenda as the newest team member.

Rocket League

KOI’s Rocket League roster was assembled on the 16th of December 2022, following the merger with Rogue. But, because there have been no Rocket League tournaments since KOI became a reality, there’s not much to say about them.

Their current roster features Gyro, Aqua, and CorruptedG (who doubles as a coach).

Rainbow Six Siege

And finally, we reach Team KOI’s Rainbow Six Siege team. It’s a similar story here — KOI inherited Rogue’s R6S roster following their merger. The team is yet to play under the KOI banner, but seeing how Rogue started playing better near the end of the organisation’s existence, there’s no doubt that they’ll be a difficult opponent.

Their roster consists of cryn, Deapek, Kantoraketti, LeonGids, and Spoit.

Team KOI Esports Betting for Beginners

Esports is filled with various betting opportunities; punters can enjoy a wide selection of bookies to choose from, along with various betting markets spread across all esports games. League of Legends and VALORANT are some of the most popular betting choices in recent times, and with the acquisition of Rogue, KOI are potentially going to be an excellent betting option.

However, you probably won’t get much earnings since they’re a high-risk, high-reward team right now. This isn’t to say they won’t become favourites in the future, but since they’re so new to the game, we advise against betting on Team KOI.

Alternatively, you could place a few Moneyline/Match-Winner bets when the LEC begins, since they’ll definitely be able to win at least a couple of matches (maybe even more if the team gels together).

Summary

In the end, it’s awesome to see a new organisation join the esports world — especially when stars such as Piqué are involved. Esports' Team KOI is a welcome sight in all regards, but sadly, Rogue had to be ‘eaten’ in order for KOI to enter the fray.

Nonetheless, the future is definitely looking bright for them and we’re excited to see what they can do once the esports season really kicks off!
