Teams and Players – LoL MSI 2017

It’s that time of the year again: the LoL MSI 2017 is happening soon and using this opportunity we give you an overview of the participating teams and players. This year’s MSI is shaping up to be really exciting due to format changes that allow a better direct international comparison. Another welcome change is the increased amount of slots. Basically every region has qualifiers and a regional champion participating in the tournament now, so more teams and players have a chance to win big and make themselves a name at the MSI 2017. The remaining unanswered question is if South Korea are once again the dominant region or if someone else can stake a claim to their throne in League of Legends. The new format is the big test before the LoL Worlds Championship coming later this year, we are really excited and look forward to many breathtaking games and high quality League of Legends on Summoner’s Rift.

Qualified Teams

You will find an overview of all participating teams right here segmented by the tournament stage in which they will enter the competition. These seedings were determined by the success of all regions at the last Mid-Season Invitational tournaments and World Championships. Ranked among the best regions only South Korea, Europe and China got a direct seeding into the group stage of the MSI 2017.

Flash Wolves MSI 2017 Team LogoThe Flash Wolves are the dark horse of the tournament and maybe the only team that can go toe-to-toe with SK Telecom T1. They defeated the ahq e-Sports Club in the Spring Split finals and are once again the champions of the LMS region.

RED Canis Mid-Season Invitational 2017 Team LogoRED Canids is a Brazilian team and thus playing on their home turf for the MSI 2017. They’ve been founded in December 2015 and qualified themselves by winning the CBLoL 2017 Stage 1 Playoffs. With Brokenshard as their new coach for the tournament the local home favorites will try their best to qualify for the main tournament.

Marines Esports Mid-Season Invitational 2017 Team LogoGIGABYTE Marines, formed in May 2015, hail from Vietnam and qualified by winning the 2017 GPL Spring. They crashed their opponents in the finals with a 3:0 score and some will recognize internationally known players in their starting roster.

Virtus.pro Mid-Season Invitational 2017 Team LogoVirtus.pro is a multi-gaming organization that has their LoL squad since June 2014. They won the 2017 LCL Spring Playoffs to qualify for the MSI 2017. Furthermore the organisation is well-known for their famous Counterstrike: GO roster which is very successful.

Isurus Gaming Mid-Season Invitational 2017 Team LogoIsurus Gaming is a multi-gaming organization from Argentine and since February 2013 they are fielding a LoL Team. Winning the 2017 LAS Opening Cup Playoffs, they qualified for the Mid Season Invitational 2017.

Coming from South America the team has also many local fans in Brazil trying to cheer their team to victory.

SuperMassive eSports MSI 2017 Team LogoAfter aquiring the license of the Beşiktaş e-Sports Clubs in 2016 the BAU Supermassive team showed great strengths in the Turkish TCL league. With the 3:1 victory over CREW eSports the team qualified for the Play-In stage of the MSI 2017.
