The Season 8 of the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) ends March, 2014 with the World Championship in Katowice (Poland). This is the first time the IEM World Championship is not held in Germany. During the the last Event of Season 8 of Intel Extreme Masters 4 Games will be played: League of Legends, Starcraft 2, Hearthstone and CS:GO (Counter Strike). The IEM Worlds have a total prize pool of $ 500,000,- which is divided on the 3 tournaments not including Hearthstone. The event starts with the EMS One Katowice CS:GO Championship tournament on Thursday, March 13th and will end on Sunday, March 16th. All matches will be streamed live and betting should be available for all major matches during the event.

IEM Katowice 2014: League of Legends
League of Legends will kick off with 8 professional teams that have garnered a spot in the different IEM Season VIII tournaments. Four teams on the other hand are also invited to join the other four qualified teams as well. Team World Elite, Gambit Gaming, Invictus Gaming, Millenium, Taipei Assassins, Cloud 9, KT Rolster Bullets, and Fnatic will take stage and battle it out for the prize of $150,000. During the Group stage, there will be two groups of four with a double elimination formating. The top 2 teams from each group will move on to the Playoff bracket. The playoff bracket will be a single elimination based format. The semifinals on the other hand will be Best of Three series and the Grand Final will be a Best of Five series.
The teams will be joined with some of the best casters in League of Legends including Leigh “Deman” Smith, Joe Miller, Trevor “Quickshot” Henry, and Martin “Deficio” Lynge. Eefje “sjokz” Depoortere will host the event. They will also be joined by some of the best professional League of Legends players to analyze each game and provide insider information. Henrik “Froggen” Hansen and Mitch” Krepo” Voorspoels will provide great information on the game at the Analyst desk.
In Group A, the newly rebounded Invictus Gaming will fight off against Fnatic while KT Rolster Bullets will have to go through Millenium first before they can proceed to the next round. In Group B, Gambit will face the Taipei Assassins once more since Season 2 and Cloud 9 will battle against World Elite who have recently rose from their standings in the LPL. Will Fnatic finally get to come together and win games or will their slump hover over the event? Can the Taipei Assassins regain their foothold in International tournaments much like they did by winning the Season 2 World Championship? Or will the Chinese team and long time rivals Invictus Gaming and World Elite meet up and finish the deal once and for all? In the League of Legends tournament during the IEM World Championship 2014 8 teams for all around the world will battle it out for total prize money of $ 150,000. The 8 teams are divided into 2 groups. The action starts on Friday, March 13th 2014 on 13:00 CET / 04:00 AM PDT. The finals will be held on Sunday at 17:30 CET.

IEM Katowice 2014: Starcraft 2
Starcraft 2 games of the IEM World Championship 2014 will be played starting on the 13th with players from different parts of the world. The 10 spots are gathered from the different winners and runners-up of the other five events that the Intel Extreme Masters Season VIII have conducted over the past few months. There will be two spots each from the winner and runner-up of IEM Shanghai, New York, Singapore, Sao Paulo, and Cologne. For the other seven remaining slots, there will be one slot for the Asian Qualifier, 1 for the American Qualifier, 1 from the European Qualifier, 2 spots from invites, and 2 from the Open Bracket Qualifier. The matches will be played on a single elimination format in a best of five match. The Grand Finals will be played in a best of 7 games. The winner will be awarded with $100,000 and 7,000 WCS Points.
14 of the worlds best Starcraft 2 players are competing for a winner takes it all prize money of $ 100,000. The tournament starts on March 14th, 2014 and ends on Sunday 16th.
