Week 8 – NA LCS Summer Split 2018

The North American LCS Season 8 is a rollercoster at the moment and Week 8 of the 2018 Summer Split will continue this trend! I guess with 8.15 we could see even more ADCs again as carry-items have been significantly gold reduced. In North America, it remains still exciting who will be allowed to win the split title in the week before last. Actually everything remains exciting – Echo Fox and 100 Thieves are very close to Team Liquid, who are currently leading the table with 10 wins. The incentive is great, because it is about precious championship points for the LoL World Championship 2018 (LoL Worlds). Another ticket if things don't go well in the playoffs. Currently TSM has to worry about the playoffs, the team has 6 victories, but it's been a long time since TSM finished the split with such a bad result. In addition, Clutch Gaming, Counter Logic Gaming and the Golden Guardians also have 5 victories and could pass by at TSM at any time. The fight for the relegation tournament has not yet been decided and nobody wants to finish within the last three places of the table. Since LCS Season 8 the relegation-“tournament” only takes place in the summer split. We are looking forward to week 8 and will not miss the live stream for game 1 on August 11th starting at 23 pm CEST!

Schedule and Results – 2018 LCS NA Summer Split Week 8

In North America, week 8 starts with the top game of the week. The 100 Thieves encounters Echo Fox and it's about no less than first place in the NA LCS table. At the bottom end of the standings, the matches won´t be less exciting, as everyone is worried about the relegation tournament and remaining in the lcs. The points are just as tightly packed, as in the upper part of the NA standings and since 2018, relegation is only taking place in the summer split, so that the teams have more planning security for their sponsors.

NA LCS 2018 Week 8 100 vs Fox

Match #1: 100 Thieves League of Legends LoL Team Logo 100 Thieves vs. Echo Fox Echo Fox League of Legends LoL Team Logo

August 11th, 02:00 PM PT / 05:00 PM ET / 23:00 CEST

The opening game in week 8 will be played by the 100 Thieves against Echo Fox. Both teams currently can count on 9 victories in the table and are on the chase of Team Liquid. The 100 Thieves lost against Team Liquid in week 7, but won against the Golden Guardians. Echo Fox must have been pleased as they are now on equal points with the 100 with their double win against Counter Logic Gaming and Team Solo Mid. This game will be a first small decision at the top of the NA LCS standings, as neither of them got an easy opponent match on day 2.

Experience has shown that a lot is decided about the Midlane in the regular strategy of both teams. The 100-Midlaner Sangwook “Ryu” Yoo (formerly playing for Phoenixx1) faces against the strong FOX-Tanner “Damonte” Damonte. FOX-Damonte is a solid midlaner with 9.3 CS/minute he is not one of the best, but is far above the performance of Ryu with 8 CS/minute. This is not least due to Ryu's outstanding sniper skills on Zoe and his constant efforts to roam. I guess that even with a good support from the jungle for Ryu, Echo Fox can still dominate the early and mid in this round. In the further course Fox must keeping the pressure and under no circumstances leave out the objectives (drakes, peripheral towers T2/T1), of which 100 have on average reached the second most.

It will be the most exciting match on day one, but I am convinced that Echo Fox will win this game. So I'm betting on a hard-fought 0:1 for Echo Fox!

NA LCS Spring Split 2018 Week 8 C9 vs GGS

Match #2: Cloud9 League of Legends LoL Team Logo Cloud9 vs. Golden Guardians Golden Guardians League of Legends LoL Team Logo

August 11th, 03:00 PM PT / 06:00 PM ET / 00:00 CEST (the next day)

Cloud9 plays against the Golden Guardians! The performance of Cloud9 in the last two weeks reminds me of the movie Cloud 9 – “at the end” they got the fire again! Also in week 7, C9 scored two points against Clutch Gaming and Counter Logic Gaming. Whereas the Golden Guardians have weakened recently and lost both games of week 7. The second game against the 100 even with a below-average performance. Although the team with GGS-Poppy, Gragas, Orianna, Varus and Braum could not have more crowd control, they still lost all fights straight on the Midlane. Slowly the memories of the patch 8.13 are fading, with which the Golden Guardians were right on the way in course of playoffs. Currently, however, the Guardians have to rather defend their LCS-status in the relegation tournament. I'm betting on a clear 1-0 victory for Cloud9.

NA LCS 2018 Week 8 CLG vs TSM

Match #3: Counter Logic Gaming League of Legends LoL Team Logo Counter Logic Gaming vs. Team Solo Mid Team SoloMid League of Legends LoL Team Logo

August 11th, 04:00 PM PT / 07:00 PM ET / 01:00 CEST (the next day)

Counter Logic Gaming encounters Team Solo Mid. Counter Logic Gaming has lost both games of week 7. On the first day they met split favourite Echo Fox and on the second day they lost against C9. As well for Team Solo Mid it was anything else than successful; also in week 7 they could “only” secure one victory against the Golden Guardians. Nevertheless, I am very curious what TSM is working out right now for the upcoming weekend. The patch notes of 8.15 leave no doubt – we will see real AD-Carries again and TSM- Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen and Alfonso “Mithy” Rodriguez will think about some new or long forgotten moves again. This does not affect the obvious agreement between Mithy and the rest of the team regarding the style of play, which have to be solved in the next weeks. Still, im betting on a 0:1 victory for Team Solo Mid.

OpTic Gaming vs. Team LiquidNA LCS 2018 Preview and Predictions

Match #4: OpTic Gaming League of Legends LoL Team Logo Optic Gaming vs. Team Liquid  Team Liquid League of Legends LoL Team Logo

August 11th, 05:00 PM PT / 08:00 PM ET / 02:00 CEST (the next day)

In the penultimate game of the evening, Optic Gaming will meet the current standin-champion of the North American LCS. Team Liquid currently stands on 10 victories, because the racehorse won against 100 as well as on day 2 against FlyQuest. Nevertheless, there are still 4 upcoming match-days and in the end only the cross section of the table counts. Optic Gaming surprisingly lost to clutch gaming in week 7, after heroically surviving 42 minutes in the defensive, CG-Solo on #Critplank (28K total damage to champions) simply couldn't be resisted anymore in the late. I never  get tired of saying it's a best-of-one, so anything can happen. But still, I expect Team Liquid to win 0:1.

NA LCS 2018 Week 8 CG vs Fly

Match #5: Clutch Gaming League of Legends LoL Team Logo Clutch Gaming vs. FlyQuest FlyQuest League of Legends LoL Team Logo

August 11th, 06:00 PM PT / 09:00 PM ET / 03:00 CEST (the next day)

The last game of the evening will be played by Clutch Gaming against FlyQuest. The latter were victorious in the last week and there are only four more rounds left (=4 games). FlyQuest and Optic Gaming currently stand at 7 points, TSM at 6 points and Clutch Gaming/Counter Logic Gaming/Golden Guardians at 5 points. Everyone should be aware that every game is even more important from now on and only two of the five teams mentioned above can qualify for the playoffs. FlyQuest showed solid performance throughout the split, so I'd dislike seeing the team to run out of air before reaching the playoffs. Anyway, both teams have a chance to win but I'm expecting a 0:1 for FlyQuest in terms of continuity throughout the split.

Who is going to win?

NA LCS 2018 Week 8 Echo Fox vs Optic

Match #1: Echo Fox League of Legends LoL Team Logo Echo Fox vs. Optic Gaming OpTic Gaming League of Legends LoL Team Logo

August 12th, 12:00 PM PT / 03:00 PM ET / 21:00 CEST

Echo Fox will play against Optic Gaming as the opening match of the second day. Both teams have played in week two against each other and the Optics have won the game. Week 2 was still under the never-to-be-forgotten patch 8.11. Optic Gaming was able to bring Echo Fox to his knees in just 39 minutes with a wall of tanks (Orrn, Nunu, Tahm Kench) and showed us the limits of the new Mage-Meta. Week eight brings us, thank goodness, patch 8.15, in which shooters become more in the focus again. Instead of Fox-Altec stage belongs now to Lawrence Sze Yuy “Lost” Hui and I hope that Optic Gaming invests at least one ban in Varus. Otherwise, I'm guessing 1-0 for Echo Fox.

NA LCS 2018 Week 8 GGS vs CG

Match #2: Golden Guardians League of Legends LoL Team Logo Golden Guardians vs. Clutch Gaming  Clutch Gaming League of Legends LoL Team Logo

August 12th, 01:00 PM PT / 04:00 PM ET / 22:00 CEST

The second game of the evening is played by the Golden Guardians against clutch gaming. Both last split up with a win for the Golden Guardians in week four. Both are currently on five victories in the North American standings, but I still see a strong clutch gaming in this encounter. CG-Apollo “Apollo” Price is currently one of the formally strongest With a 4.1 KDA and 9.6 CS/Min he belongs to the upper elite of AD-Carries. The patch should play Clutch Gaming in the cards and the GGS botlane Deftly and Matt should have a hard time in the early game. I bet on a 0:1 victory for Clutch Gaming.

NA LCS 2018 Week 8 TSM vs 100Thieves

Match #3: Team SoloMid League of Legends LoL Team Logo Team Solo Mid vs. 100 Thieves 100 Thieves League of Legends LoL Team Logo

August 12th, 02:00 PM PT / 05:00 PM ET / 23:00 CEST

Team Solo Mid plays against the 100 Thieves. Those who have been following the predictions for a long time will have noticed that the TSM games almost always get the most attention. At the moment, however, the team seems as changed. In my opinion, only Kevin “Hauntzer” Yarnell is currently doing well on the top lane. AD-Carry Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen, who was recently voted “Player of the Game”, has also made serious mistakes in the recent games, especially the important early games. As mentioned, all other players have too often made objectively incomprehensible mistakes lately. Week 9 will bring us clarity, if TSM qualify for summer split playoffs. I'm betting on a 1-0 win for the 100 Thieves.

NA LCS 2018 Summer Split week 8 TL vs, C9

Match #4: Team Liquid League of Legends LoL Team Logo Team Liquid vs. Cloud9 Cloud9 League of Legends LoL Team Logo

August 12th, 03:00 PM PT / 06:00 PM ET / 00:00 CEST (the next day)

Team Liquid will face Cloud9 in the top match of the day. The last encounter is not that long ago and i can clearly remember Cloud9´s domination in week 5 over Team Liquid. In week 7, NA once again proved to us that it is currently impossible to predict. C9 has won against both Clutch Gaming and Counter Logic Gaming. The game against CG was also won in a straight lead throughout the game, against CLG it was 30 exciting minutes back and forth. In a very kill-poor and tactical game it was once again C9-Sneaky and C9-Zeyzal, who were present in every teamfight and could deliver enormous damage peaks in tf.

In the last encounter in week 5 of patch 8.13, Cloud9's superiority came from the top and midlane. Cloud9 Eric “Licorice” Ritchie showed us excellent performance beyond the entire split. With 9.7 CS/minute and a 4.2 KDA, he is one of the best in objective terms, and his champion pool also fits wonderfully into the metas. Against Echo Fox we could already marvel at Licorice performing the new Aatrox, on which he played a 7 KDA rating. The lane duels in the middle and on the top lane will definitely be won by C9 in the game against Team Liquid, but the team must not fall back into the feared T2 hole. All T2 Towers are defeated, the Jungle-Objectives unattainable – nevertheless they must not get involved in fights. That could backfire in a Bo1. Without taking sides, the pursuer usually has my sympathy points therefore I wish Cloud9 much success in the encounter, but still bet on a 1-0 for Team Liquid.

NA LCS 2018 Week 8 FLY vs CLG

Match #5: FlyQuest League of Legends LoL Team Logo FlyQuest vs. Counter Logic Gaming Counter Logic Gaming League of Legends LoL Team Logo

August 12th, 04:00 PM PT / 07:00 PM ET / 01:00 CEST (the next day)

The last match of week 8 is the encounter between FlyQuest against Counter Logic Gaming. FlyQuest currently on 7 points needs a victory in this game. Also in the last match in week 3 FLY could win the game. In a 40 minutes game the FlyQuests could turn the game after 30 minutes and a 10/3/6 FLY-Santorin on Kha´Zix could prevent the worst. Despite a fat Kha´Zix, CLG often took the dangerous path through the jungle and several times some players were subject to a “oneshot”. CLG has recently found its ambition again, but this encounter will clearly goes to FlyQuest. So I'm betting on a 1-0 victory for FlyQuest.

Who is going to win?
