NA LCS Spring Split Teams 2015 | Season 5

The spring split of the North American LCS Seaon 5 | 2015 is just around the corner. For the first time the LCS will feature 10 instead of 8 teams. 5 teams have qualified for their position in the last LCS Split and another 3 qualified for Season 5 in the LCS Promotion Tournament.  The last 2 teams qualified for the LCS NA Spring Split 2015 in the Expansion Tournament. As all the teams are revealed, fans can’t wait for January to arrive! With the preseason boosting the largest patch ever of league of legends, the spring split will be a keen platform to check out how professionals adapt to the changes. Here are the 10 teams that are qualified for the 2015 NA Spring Split:

Logo of LCS NA Spring Split Team C9 (Cloud9)Competing in the North American League championship series, Cloud9 is one of the few teams in the world with a noteworthy fanbase. The team gained popularity after winning two LCS seasons, while finishing in the top eight at the Season 3 World Championship.

Competing under Cloud 9 Hyper X (as they are sponsored by Kingston Hyper X), c9 was initially formed by the roster of Quantic Gaming after players left Quantic gaming due to financial struggles. Cloud9 also has subdivisions playing in following games: Hearthstone: Heroes of WarCraft, DotA 2, Smite and Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Counter Logic Gaming

Notable achievements: 1st in 2011 MLG Raleigh, IEM Season VI – Global Challenge Cologne, 2010 WCG Grand Finals. 2nd in IEM Season VI – Global Challenge Guangzhou, IGN ProLeague 4, 2012 MLG Spring Championship. 3rd positions in IEM Season VI – World Championship, IEM Season VI – World Championship, IGN ProLeague 3, 2014 NA LCS Spring Playoffs, 2014 NA LCS Spring Regular Season.

Logo of LCS NA Spring Split Team CLGMore commonly known as CLG, Counter Logic Gaming is a North American eSports organization. It was founded by “HotshotGG” in April of 2010. One of the most interesting fact about this team is the fact that they are one of the oldest teams in the League of Legends scene. CLG is only hosting its flagship team at the moment, though in the past they were also sponsoring Counter Logic Gaming Black, Counter Logic Gaming EU, and one Defense of the Ancients 2 team.

Winterfox (taken slot of Evil Geniuses)

Notable achievements (as EG): 3rd at LCS Europe Season 3 Summer Regular Season, LCS Europe Season 3 Spring Playoffs.

Logo of LCS NA Spring Split Team WinterfoxWinterfox has taken the slot of Evil Geniuses, one of the oldest gaming organizations in the world, sponsoring players and teams over a collection of games including CS 1.6, CS: GO, DotA 2, League of Legends, Quake Live, StarCraft II, Super Street Fighter IV, and World of Warcraft. In January 2013, the organization formed its NA league of legends team by acquiring the roster of CLG EU. For Season 5 there are none of the original EG members remaining and the team was forced to rebrand as per the new rules enforced by Riot. Winterfox is bringing new players to the LCS. We will see which impact they can have on the North American LoL League.

Team Impulse (formerly known as LMQ)

Notable achievements (as LMQ): 1st in 2014 NA Spring Challenger Series Playoffs, 2014 NA Spring Challenger Series #2, North American Challenger League Season 2, 2014 NA Spring Challenger Series #1. 2nd position in 2014 NA LCS Summer Regular Season. 3rd at 2014 NA LCS Summer Playoffs, National Electronic Sports Tournament.

Logo of LCS NA Spring Split Team Team ImpulseTeam Impulse comprises mainly of Chinese players, previously a sister team to Royal Club Huang Zu known as LMQ. However, the team moved to North America on December 15th, 2013 after deciding to compete in the North American LCS.

They are currently playing under the name Team Impulse.

Team Liquid (formerly known as Team Curse)

Notable achievements: 2nd in IGN ProLeague Face Off, LCS North America Season 3 Spring Regular Season.

Now known as a Team liquid, after merging with Team curse, team Liquid is one of the notable LCS NA teams. In 2010, their roster was first formed by LiQuiD112, and the team was named Team XXX. Initially receiving a sponsorship from unRestricted eSports, the team managed to acquire a sponsorship from Curse, after qualifying for MLG Raleigh in August 2011, as such they renamed to Curse Gaming.

In 2012 they had their first tournament, the curse invitational, and they also released their new site, lolpro.com on the same date.

They merged with Team Liquid in January 2015, although the starting lineup for the  LCS 2015 Spring Split remains the same as that of Curse.

Hosting one on the major teams in the NA LCS, Team Dignitas has managed to place itself highly in many major events, both regional and international, since its formation with the acquisition of Rock Solid in September of 2011.

Team 8 is new to the professional LCS scene, but they are notable for competing in both splits of the 2014 North American Challenger Series and in the second season of the North American Challenger League.

Team SoloMid

Team SoloMid (TSM) is now one of the most popular and successful North American eSports Team, winning a multitude of trophies and titles as well as events. Their first performance was seen in early 2011 when they were prepping for the first world championship of League of Legends.

Gravity (formerly known as Curse Academy)

Notable achievements (as Curse Academy): 2nd position in: 2014 NA Challenger series summer playoffs, 2014 NA summer series summer #2, IPL summer promotion qualifier. 3rd position in 2014 NA Challenger series summer #1, 2014 NA Challenger Series Spring #2.

Logo of LCS NA Spring Split Team GravityFormerly known as Children of IWDominate, Curse academy was picked up by the mother team Curse before the start of season 3. They have managed to qualify for the 2015 season with some roster updates, banking on the skill of saintvicous and bunny Fufuu to do well in the upcoming season. Moreover they changed the name to Gravity. As Team Curse itself is in the 2015 season as well, it will be interesting to see how the two teams perform when they go head to head against each other even though both teams changed their name for the LCS Season 5 Spring Split.

Team Coast

Notable achievements: 1st in: 2014 NA Challenger Series Summer #2, 2014 NA Challenger Series Summer #1, North American Challenger League. 2nd in: LCS North America Season 3 Spring Playoffs and 3rd position in 2014 NA Challenger Series Summer Playoffs.

Logo of LCS NA Spring Split Team Team CoastTeam Coast was previously known as Good Game University, a name which they dropped for their current name in June of 2013. The roster of this team when it was founded comprised of players from Team Dynamic, who broke away from their organization to found this team. They have been relegated from the LCS once before, but they have managed to qualify for their 2015 spot and hope to never face the crisis of a relegation again.
