Paladins is a fast-paced free-to-play first-person shooter from the makers of SMITE, Hi-Rez Studios. The game has been out for quite a while, having been released back in September 2016. Even though it’s not enjoying massive popularity, Paladins online esports scene is still alive and kicking. If you’re here to learn how to bet on Paladins esports though, you better stick around!

What is Paladins?

Let’s start off with the basics – Paladins is a first-person shooter in many ways similar to Overwatch. It has distinctive differences in some mechanics, though the majority of factors and gunplay feel similar to Blizzard’s FPS wonder.

Just like Overwatch, Paladins has numerous playable champions, each bringing a unique set of abilities to the table and can help the team in certain ways. The gameplay is fast-paced, with gunplay and magic coupled to create a fantastic and mechanically demanding gameplay experience.

Paladins has two game modes right now – Siege and Payload. Both of them pit two teams of five players up against each other, but there are distinctive differences between the two.

Siege’s main objective is to reach nine points before the opponents. Two points are rewarded for capturing each objective, after which you’ll see a payload cart appear. To get two additional points, you need to push the cart all the way to the opponents’ base. If the push is prevented, the defenders will get one point for their efforts.

As for Payload game mode, it’s pretty similar to Siege, but there are no capture points or carts. Instead, it’s just a defending team playing against an attacking team, and that’s it.

Paladins History

There’s not much to be said about Paladin’s history, really. As mentioned earlier, the game was released back in September 2016 and has never really lived up to its expectations. True, it had a decent player base at one point, but it was never really enough to push Paladins online esports into the limelight.

Paladins Esports History

Everything started with DreamHack Summer 2016 when Paladins got the first glimpse of the esports life. Paladins Founders Tournament featured four teams, with District 69 eventually taking the title and $50,000 in prize money.

2017 was still kind of slow, with just several notable events most of them being a part of the PPL (Paladins Premier League) and most handing out spots at the 2018 Paladins world Championship.

Even to this day, the 2018 DreamHack World Championship is the biggest Paladins esports event. It showcased twelve teams consisting of all the top esports names back then, including NaVi (title winners), Ninjas in Pyjamas, Fnatic, and more.

The second World Championship that year, held in November in Atlanta, had a slightly higher prize pool ($300,000), but couldn’t exceed the expectations set by the DreamHack spectacle in January.

Coupled with several additional top-tier events, 2018 is by far the best calendar year for Paladins esports.

Top 5 Biggest Earners in Paladins Esports

As you probably know, the esports games are a lucrative business. Not just for the teams / organizations and game developers, but for the players and staff members too.

But, do we have any information as to just how much money professional Paladins players have earned over the last few years? This sort of information is readily available for the most popular esports like CSGO, Dota 2, and League of Legends.

What about the top five biggest earners in Paladins esports?

Luckily, Esports Earnings has all the information we need. Here’s what you need to know:

Nickname Player Name Paladins Earnings Country
Spunkki Teemu Tenhunen $65,667 Finland
Gerrah Jordy Haast $59,095 Netherlands
Bird Erik Sjosten $53,960 USA
Bonkar Malkolm Rench $53,960 Sweden
Mutustiina Kari Parviainen $47,601 Finland
Laizy Kevin Jensen $47,210 Denmark
Faenex Kai Duppen $47,162 Netherlands
rockmonkey Sean Boswell $46,416 USA
Bugzy Adrian Bugajski $43,679 Poland
RuBBu Ryan Wong $43,550 USA

Most Notable Paladins Esports Teams

There’s a handful of teams that need mentioning here. For starters, we need to point District69 out as they’re the winners of the first-ever Paladins esports event.

Furthermore, teams like NaVi, Envy, G2, and Fnatic have all won a fair share of events. The same goes for Sanguine, who have won the two latest premier-tier Paladins esports events.

Here’s our list of the six most notable paladins esports teams:

  • Sanguine
  • NaVi
  • Envy
  • G2
  • Fnatic
  • District69

Paladins Esports Betting Options

Even though Paladins isn’t as popular in many countries as the biggest esports games out there, it still has a decent number of betting markets. Here are short overviews of the two most common ones:

Match-Winner Bets

This is the most basic bet type out there. The bookies allow you to choose between team A and team B. If you pick team A and it wins the match, your bet will go through. If you pick the losing side… well, better luck next time!

Outright Winner Bets

In addition to bets focusing on match-winners, some bookies are known for offering tournament-winner betting options too. Typically, though, these are only available during the biggest events. In the case of Paladins, that would be the World Championship and Paladins Premier League.

Esports Bonuses for Paladins Betting

Unfortunately, you won’t find any esports bonuses when betting on Paladins because, quite frankly, there’s nothing to bet on. If generous bonuses for investing in esports lines are your thing, then you should pay attention to the biggest esports out there like LoL, CSGO, Dota, and VALORANT.

Biggest Paladins Events to Bet on

What are the biggest Paladins esports events you can bet on? In the past, that would be the likes of Paladins Premier League and Paladins World Championship. These are the two biggest and most notable event series in the game, and basically the only events that had somewhat solid betting coverage.

These days, though, you won’t find any Paladin bets to invest in. Why is that so?

Well, the game’s esports scene has come to a halt with no big tournaments being organized. There’s little to no esports action, which means betting coverage just doesn’t make sense for online esports bookmakers.

Paladins Betting FAQs

Paladins is a fast-paced first-person shooter with unique playable characters bringing forth different sets of abilities. Made by Hi-Rez Studios, the makers of SMITE, Paladins was supposed to be a big name in the FPS esports niche, but never really lived up to its expectations.

Paladins came out on September 16th, 2016. That’s more than five years ago, though the game’s esports ecosystem has been pretty much dead for two years now.

Mixer points are used for buying skins and other cosmetic items from the game’s store. Mixer points could be obtained by watching Paladins streams on the Mixer platform. But, since Mixer is now out of the equation, there’s no more ways to get Viewer points in Paladins.

You can get Twitch drops, though, but that’s a topic for another time.

You can bet on Paladins in several ways. The legit way involves betting at licensed online betting platforms that typically offer two or three distinctive betting options for Paladins. We’re talking match-winners and outrights in most scenarios, with spreads reserved for the biggest competitions.

Bet365, Vulkanbet, and betway are some of the best online betting platforms supporting esports bets. However, since Paladins esports isn’t really a thing anymore, you’ll have a hard time finding stuff to bet on.
