In the 2019 Brawl Stars Championship, they crowned Brawl Stars’ first-ever World Finals champions in Nova Esports EU at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center. Back then, Nova Esports had been dominating tourneys across Supercell’s titles, such as in the Clash Royale League and the Clash of Clans World Championship in 2018.
Then, despite the pandemic in 2020, Supercell redid the format of the BSC with month-long seasonal tournament challenges that ran from January to October. This culminated with the World Finals in November, with a million dollars up for the taking. In that year, Asia Pacific’s PSG Esports redeemed themselves to win the crown with an impressive undefeated 9-0 record.
Then, in 2021, ZETA DIVISION kept the status quo, winning $400,000 and putting themselves and East Asia as the region to beat in the years to come. Now, with their streak coming from the Mid-Season Invitational, ZETA DIVISION are the reigning champs who are poised to mark their names in the history books of Brawl Stars esports.

Ever since its first World Finals, Brawl Stars has kept the same formula across every championship. In 2022, it is no different, with all 16 teams going head-to-head in a single-elimination tournament played out in matches of five sets of best of three each (Bo5xBo3). This continues all the way up until the finals, where the finalists duke it out in seven sets of best of threes (Bo7xBo3).

The Tribe returns to the Brawl Stars World Finals, as they have since the first-ever championship in 2019. This season, it feels as if the competition is much closer than it was in the previous year, with close five-game series throughout the Mid-Season Invitational. Last June, North America’s Tribe Gaming came so close to taking down SK Gaming who, by the way, almost beat the seemingly unbeatable ZETA DIVISION ONE.
Meanwhile, across the world, their sister team Tribe Gaming EU is coming in to represent their region once again. But this time, the first seed team is led by the former 2019 Brawl Stars World Finals champion. Alongside STMN’s LeNain and AC Milan QLASH’s Yoshi, Tribe Gaming EU has created a European super team that gives the region much hope come the World Finals.
This could perhaps be the year that one of Tribe Gaming’s squads takes home the trophy for the organisation.
After placing in the Top 8 of last year’s World Finals, it came as a surprise that the Italian team chose to release their entire roster and rebuild for the coming season. But thankfully for AC Milan Qlash, their investment paid off and this all-Brazilian squad of rookies have made it big in 2022. In their region of LAS, ACMQ are leagues above the competition with about 300 points more than second seed Chasmac Gaming BR.
Brazil has always been a thorn on the West’s side, with past teams like INTZ knocking out crowd favourites in 2020 and 2021. However, this rookie lineup has a lot to prove as they dropped Top 16 in the Mid-Season Invitational. Perhaps their experience at Jönköping will finally be enough to push them to greater heights in the World Finals.
The Brawl Stars World Finals 2022 is a three-day tournament that’s set to begin on November 25 and end on the 27th. The magic begins on 17:00 CET on day 1, November 25 with the first round of teams to qualify for the quarterfinals, and continues the same time on day 2, November 26 for the last teams to join quarters. The last day of the World Finals begins at 14:00 CET, with the top 8 teams duking it out until a champion is crowned at the end of the day.
For the first time since the pandemic, the 2022 World Finals will be open to the public in Disneyland®︎ Paris. The sad news, however, is that tickets are already sold out at Eventbrite.
