Less than a month remaining before the biggest tournament in Dota 2 and Valve has finally released the format and schedule for the upcoming the International 2014 tournament. The International 2014 main event will be held on July 18, 2014 to July 21, 2014 at Key Arena in Seattle. The Dota 2 tournament will be divided into three phases.
Schedule TI4 | The International 2014:
Phase 1 has been completed with the regional qualifiers. Next would be the playoffs which would be divided into two days.

Phase one would be the Wild Card tournament in which the runners up from the four regional qualifiers will be duking it out in a best of three single elimination for a spot at the International 2014.
Phase two would be the group stage of the play-offs. Each team will be facing each other once and will determine the seeding for the next stage. The top 2 teams will be seeded directly into the main event upper bracket, the bottom six team will be eliminated and the middle eight teams will enter phase 3 of the play-offs which will again be divided into two days.
In phase three of the play-offs the teams will be divided into two brackets. Seeding will be determined by the results of the group stage. All matched will be best of three.
Day two would be the second bracket of the play-offs. The winner of matches F and C will advance to the upper bracket of the main event. The loser of the matches E, F, B and C will advance to the lower bracket of the main event.
The main event will feature eight teams in a double elimination tournament. This means that teams must lose two matches in order to be eliminated. The upper bracket will have to go through less teams and matches in order to reach the grand finals while the lower bracket will have a much harder and longer road ahead, seeding is almost everything in this tournament format. The grand finals will be a best of five match.
