Who should you bet on in the Horizon Cup and why? In this section, we will give you some pointers, but the rest is up to you.
Out of the 10 teams competing, SBTC Esports are the highest ranked, as they stand second in the world and first in South East Asia. To give bettors even more confidence, SBTC are coming into the event after winning the League of Legends: Wild Rift SEA Championship 2021.
But if you aren’t convinced by SBTC, Team Queso, from Europe, should be taken very seriously. They have the most prize money from Wild Rift competition. They also won the Wild Rift Origin Series Championship to qualify for the Horizon Cup, beating Rix.GG in the final, the team that’s ranked number one in the world.
Here is the full list of teams competing at the Wild Rift Horizon Cup:
Team Secret are ranked ninth in the world in Wild Rift competition and came second to SBTC Esports at the League of Legends: Wild Rift SEA Championship 2021. However, they came first in the Philippines Pro Gaming League 2021 Fall.
At the SEA Championship, Secret’s only losses came against SBTC, while they picked up seven wins and two draws, including wins against Buriram United Esports who are ranked sixth in the world.
If you’re curious about Horizon Cup betting but you’re still mulling over what markets to look for and bet on, this section explains some bet types you can expect for the competition.
You can bet on the overall winner of the Horizon Cup. This is an outright bet. An outright bet is the kind of market you are likely to see several weeks before the event starts and will be based on factors like recent form and each teams’ reputation and ranking.
Match winner markets are very popular and allow you to bet on the team you think will win the match. Part of its beauty is its simplicity. Plus, there’s almost always a favourite, who is expected to win, and an outsider, who is expected to lose. So, if you’re ITK about the esport and the teams involved, you might want to take a chance on the underdog winning or you might go all in on the favourite. You can bet on match winner markets at Betway.com.
If you know which teams do well on which maps, then you can gain an advantage here. You might even know more than the bookies, so look out for generous odds for a team playing its favourite map.
If you know one of the teams in a match tends to go straight for the jugular, you could bet on them to get the first kill or ‘first blood’.
Towers, or turrets, in LoL, attack enemies on sight. Moreover, there are more towers per team on different battlegrounds. For example, there are 11 turrets per team on Summoner’s Rift and there are four per team on Howling Abyss. You can bet on how many towers each team will destroy.
You can bet on two teams, usually favourites and always playing in separate matches, to each be victorious. As individual bets, the odds might be unappealing but as a special bet like this, the odds are increased.
Some betting sites already have Wild Rift betting odds and they might be your best bet for Horizon Cup markets. In the following section, we talk about those sites, plus others we expect to cover the event in Singapore.
Loot.bet is something of a unicorn when it comes to Wild Rift betting sites. They already offer esports betting odds specific to Wild Rift, not just League of Legends. When we visited, they had odds on three 2021 Wild Rift Wild Tour matches, including Katrishiso versus DreamMax, TSM versus Omegha and Xisde versus Havan Liberty.
One of the beauties of Loot.bet is how they regularly update their esports markets to include new and exciting games like Wild Rift. They also have odds on niche esports like Street Fighter 5 and Pro Evolution Soccer.
But that’s not all. You can get a welcome bonus of up to €100 plus 35 free spins to use on Loot.bet’s online slots.
Betway has to be one of the favourite esports betting sites around at the moment. They have created an attractive esports betting proposition with several smart moves. One thing they have done is sponsored some leading esports teams, such as Berlin International Gaming (BIG), Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP) and Made in Brazil (MIBR).
What’s more, unlike most other esports betting sites, Betway has special offers just for esports fans. You can get €10 free bets every week when you bet at least €25 on multiples and there are free bets when you bet a certain amount on competitions like the IEM Fall Europe.
They have also recently offered money back free bets up to €10 when punters lost a double bet on the League of Legends World Championship.
VulkanBet had a range of League of Legends markets when we visited, covering 36 matches in total. They had more than 90 markets on some fixtures, such as BIG versus Schalke 04 Evolution in the Prime League Winter Cup 2021 Playoffs.
When we visited, there were lots of markets on LoL’s World Championship 2021. For instance, they had more than 100 markets on matches like Gen.G versus LNG Esports. Some of these were ‘race to kills’ (the first to 5 and 10 kills), first dragon, total towers and total kills.
EGB has an excellent selection of League of Legends markets so you can expect Horizon Cup odds there too. You can also deposit with bitcoin, Skrill, e-wallet and credit card. Apart from Wild Rift and League of Legends (LoL), at EGB you can bet on Apex Legends, Overwatch, Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
GG.Bet has a fantastic esports betting section, covering hundreds of matches and tournaments in CS:GO, Dota 2 and LoL. They also have League of Legends: Wild Rift markets. When we visited their site, they had betting on the Wild Rift Douyu Master Legends match in China between CEGM and MAX Esports, including markets like map 1/2 first blood, total kills odd/even and correct map score. It’s good to see before the Horizon Cup that betting sites are already covering the game.
The Wild Rift Horizon Cup signals the end of the Wild Rift preseason and acts as the game’s ‘kick-off tournament’. There will be 10 teams competing, from all regions of the game, in an eight-day championship.
There will be 10 teams heading to Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre to compete at the event. The teams who have qualified from their respective regional competitions are Team Queso (EU), eBRO Gaming (LATAM), Sengoku Gaming (Japan), Da Kun Gaming (China), KT Rolster (Korea), ThunderTalk Gaming (China), Team Secret (SEA), SBTC Esports (SEA), Tribe Gaming (NA) and TSM (Brazil). Tribe Gaming and TSM were the last two teams to qualify for the Wild Rift Horizon Cup after TSM beat Só Agradece in the finals in Brazil and Tribe beat Immortals in North America.
