What is Honor of Kings?

Honor of Kings (also called King of Glory) is one of the world's biggest Multiplayer Online Battle Arena games (MOBA). It is a game available on Android and iOS platforms. It was developed by TiMi Studio Group and published by Tencent media.

HoK is a quick-match mobile MOBA game inspired by League of Legends, a similar-genre PC game developed by Riot Games, a division of Tencent Games. It is one of the first of its kind.

The game was initially named League of Kings. However, Riot games complained that the new game was ripping off the intellectual property of their game League of Legends, based on the similarities in abilities and gameplay. This made Tencent media make a few changes to the game and rename it Honor of Kings before releasing it. Honor of Kings immerses players in its distinctive and captivating universe with its cast of colourful heroes, a colourful battlefield, and music to inspire them to victory. To access the game, you must have either a Tencent QQ or a WeChat account. Additionally, a player can add friends and invite users from various platforms to join guilds.

Since its 2015 launch in China, Honor of Kings has enjoyed unprecedented success, with 100 million Daily Active Users and over 200 million monthly users averaged by November 2020. It is both the most downloaded app and the most widely played game in the world, with sales of more than $13.4 billion making it the highest-grossing mobile game of all time. Honor of Kings was the second-highest grossing mobile game worldwide in February 2021, with gross revenue of $218.5 million. HOK is mainly concentrated in China, providing nearly 96% of Honor of Kings' income, and Thailand is second with less than 2 percent.

Arena of Valor is an international adaptation of Honor of Kings that uses the same game engine and UI design but has significantly changed heroes to appeal to the Western market, was released in October 2016. However, Honor of Kings will be made available worldwide by the end of 2022, according to a recent announcement by Level Infinite, the company that publishes Arena of Valor.
