Team Heretics is a Spain-based esports organisation with a focus on their LOL, VALORANT, Fortnite, and FIFA sides. After their moderate regional success, they have now bought in to the LEC, attracting attention from esports punters around the world. This article will cover everything you need to know about Heretics esports betting in 2024!

Who Are Team Heretics?

Team Heretics is a Spanish esports organisation based in Madrid. It was founded in 2016 by Youtuber Jorge “Goorgo” Orejudo. It has fielded teams in several esports, including Call of Duty, Counter-Strike, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege.

These days, they focus on three esports: League of Legends, with star Polish player “Jankos”; VALORANT, where they are currently the 61st ranked team in the world (according to Gosu Gamers); FIFA, where they won the FGS 22 Team of the Season Cup. They also have a Fortnite squad.

The team has several prestigious sponsors, including Lenovo, Motorola, beer brand San Miguel and G-FUEL.

Team Heretics League of Legends

Heretics esports has had a complex start in the world of League of Legends. Originally, in 2017, they created a LoL squad to compete in Spain, however, the team was disbanded December of the same year. The organisation went without a LoL team through 2018, before partnering with G2 Esports to compete in LVP Super Liga Orange as “G2 Heretics”.

For the 2020 season, the organisations decided to part ways, causing Heretics not to compete for the 2020 and 2021 seasons. At the end of 2022, it was announced that they would rejoin the LVP, in the Segunda División, though they eventually bought Cream Real Betis' place in order to compete in the LVP Super Liga.

After buying their way to the highest level of Spanish competition in 2022, they made an even bigger purchase in 2023, acquiring the spot Misfits Gaming left in the League of Legends European Championship (LEC).

Currently the squad consists of:

So far, we haven’t seen this updated squad compete on the highest level, so it could be anybody’s guess how well they will perform against the likes of Astralis, G2, Vitality and the rest in the upcoming LEC winter 2023 tournament. Still, with several experienced players from the European and Asian scene, they could easily be one of the dark horses.

Team Heretics VALORANT

Team Heretics’ esports venture into the world of VALORANT was an immediate success. 2020 was an almost perfect year for them, as they closed the season with six titles out of a possible six, and a win/loss record of 35 and 1. Their biggest win was the 2020 First Strike Europe title, where they bested the likes of G2 Esports and Team Liquid to win the main prize of $40,000.

In 2021 they placed second on the VALORANT Champions Tour and in 2022, they continued this success with wins in several in A and B tier tournaments. We expect more of the same in 2023, especially with the likes of Denmark’s AvovA and Lithuanian team captain Boo on the roster.

Currently the squad consists of:

Team Heretics FIFA

Team Heretics also fields one of the best FIFA squads, with their side consisting of two of the best Spanish and Latin American players in the game.

  • Matias is one of the most promising South American talents. After this Argentinian player won the CONMEBOL eLibertadores tournament, he decided to try his fortune in Europe.
  • At just 18 years old, H1dalgo is already one of the best Spanish FIFA players. He is the current champ of the #eCopaRFEF, and he also represents the Spanish national side.

Their biggest prize together so far was the FGS 22 Team of the Season Cup, worth $100,000. And we expect more of the same in 2023. The team is also partnered with Real Zaragoza eSports.

Team Heretics Fortnite

The Heretics esports Fortnite squad has had several prominent members, though currently only NAKOO is considered pro. While the team placed fifth in the S-Tier tournament FNCS: All-Star Showdown – Grand Finals: Europe, with the help of Kinzell in 2021, it is unclear whether this team is still active, as they only won a prize in one match in 2022.

Team Heretics Betting Tips

  1. Remember to manage your bankroll!
Anyone can get lucky and win a few bets, but your luck can run out, which is why you need to learn bankroll management. A smart punter will not blow his whole bankroll on a single risky wager. Rather, he will divide his budget into multiple units and wager only several of them, depending on the perceived value of each bet. That way, there will always be money left over for more bets.
  2. Always look for value!
Value is the most important concept in betting. All bookies’ odds come with what is called implied probability, which means they correspond with how likely the bookie thinks it is that your team will win. When you see some juicy odds, don’t just rush to take them. Instead see if they correspond with your perceived assessment of a team’s chances of winning — which might mean betting against your favourite team if the odds are right.
  3. Get welcome offers.
These days, almost all esports bookies offer some kind of welcome bonus, often in the form of free bets. This can be a great way to start your bankroll and experiment with smart betting strategies.
  4. Bet while matches live!
Live betting is often one of the smartest ways to bet. This allows you to adapt your betting strategy, depending on how the game develops. In some cases, you can even use it to correct your previous betting mistakes by betting against the previous bet if you see it losing.
  5. Trust in the underdog every now and then.
While favourites are usually just that for a reason, the fact that so many people bet on them often moves the odds to the extent that there is no longer any value in betting on them. Betting on several favourites in a row and losing even just one of your bets might already leave you in the minus, while betting on several underdogs and winning just one bet might leave you in the plus.

The Heretics esports squad seems to have sprouted up from nowhere, to where they are now competing against some of Europe’s top talent in several disciplines. They are some of the pioneers in VALORANT, and managed to find their way straight to the top. Their FIFA side is also consistent in good results.

The main question is how their new VALORANT side will do in the LEC. With some up-and-coming talent along with veterans, they could upstage some of the more established teams in this year’s LEC. Still, they have big shoes to fill, taking the place of Misfits.
