Teams:

The following teams were considered the top in the world and earned a direct invite to the tournament:

  • Vici Gaming Team Logo Dota 2 Vici Gaming
  • OG Team Logo Dota 2 OG
  • Evil Genius Team Logo Dota 2 Evil Geniuses
  • LGD Team Logo Dota2 LGD Gaming
  • EHOME Team Logo Dota 2 EHOME
  • Team Secret Logo Dota 2 Team Secret

Three teams from china, two from Europe and one from America. These teams are considered the best because of their performance during the past months. Something we should add is that teams that are considered part of the meta right now, like Alliance, didn’t get an invite. This tournament clearly took into consideration teams’ performance in a longer time period. Alliance was performing poorly before December 2015, but since then they’ve won the latest important tournaments. Still, they didn’t get an invite to the MDL Winter.

Marstv Dota 2 League Winter | LAN Finals

This tournament’s LAN Finals consist of two phases that are similar to the recent Majors organized by Valve.

First, the Group Stage consists of a Bo2 round robin where the teams are divided into two groups. The top two teams from both groups will advance to the Upper Bracket of the double-elimination Playoffs, the bottom two will be eliminated and the rest will start in the Lower Bracket.

During the Playoffs, all matches are Bo3, excepting the Grand Finals that are Bo5.
