How To Start Esports Betting

Esports betting is similar to traditional sports betting, and it is available at select bookies around the world. Here are some general steps to get started:

  1. Choose a reputable esports betting site — With so many online bookmakers that offer esports betting, it's important to choose a site that is reputable, safe, and secure. Look for bookies that are licensed and regulated in your jurisdiction, and that have a good reputation for fair and transparent betting practices.
  2. Create an account — Once you have chosen an esports betting site, you will need to create an account. This typically involves providing some personal information, such as your name, email address, and date of birth.
  3. Make a deposit — Before you can place bets, you will need to fund your account. Most esports betting sites offer a variety of payment options, such as credit cards, e-wallets, and bank transfers.
  4. Verify your account — Make sure to upload the necessary documents to verify your account, that way you can withdraw your winnings right away.
  5. Choose your bets — Once you have funded your account, you can start placing bets on your chosen esports events. Most betting sites offer a wide range of markets, including match winner, tournament winner, map winner, as well as individual player or team performance.
  6. Monitor your budget — As with any form of gambling, it's important to keep track of your bets and your bankroll. Set a budget for yourself and stick to it.

What Is Assetto Corsa?

Assetto Corsa is a racing sim developed by Italian developer Kunos Simulazioni. The game was first released in 2014 and is now available on multiple platforms, including Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Linux, and is also available on Steam.

The title is known for its realistic physics engine, accurate representations of real-world cars and tracks, and extensive modding capabilities. In fact, it features a wide range of cars — from classic sports cars to modern supercars, as well as a variety of tracks from around the world. Moreover, Assetto Corsa offers a variety of game modes, including career mode, time attack, and multiplayer.

In addition to the content included in the base game, Assetto Corsa esports has a thriving modding community that has created additional cars, tracks, and game modes.

Assetto Corsa Competizione

Assetto Corsa Competizione is a second video game developed by Kunos Simulazioni. It was first released in 2019 and is also available on multiple platforms, including Microsoft Windows, Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Competizione focuses solely on GT Racing, with cars based on those from the official GT3 series. This includes real-world teams and drivers in accurate liveries.

The game boasts the most accurate and realistic sounds and handling; however, it is limited to this specific type of racing. You could even call the game ACC GT, as that would be an even more accurate title. Thanks to tournaments, this is becoming a popular esports game for sim racing enthusiasts.

Assetto Corsa Competizione setups

While the game allows you to customise and set up your car within certain parameters, various sites offer setups (both paid and free), which you can download and install to hopefully boost your car’s performance.

Assetto Corsa 2

Assetto Corsa 2 is scheduled for 2024. It will use Kunos Simulazioni’s proprietary game engine, and not Unreal Engine 4, like Competizione. It will likely allow users on consoles more modding options, which was not available on the first version. Since it has a higher budget, it will have more car models licensed. Other than that, not much has been announced so far.

Assetto Corsa Mods

Assetto Corsa has a very active and enthusiastic modding community, which has created a vast range of mods that can be used to enhance the game. These mods can add new cars, tracks, and game modes, as well as add new features, such as improving the graphics, physics, and sound. There are also mods that add weather effects and dynamic time of day.

Assetto Corsa Car Mods

The modding community has also created mods for almost every type of car imaginable, from vintage sports cars to modern hypercars.

Can You Bet on Assetto Corsa?

At the time of writing, we have not found any esports betting sites that offer real money bets on Assetto Corsa. Still, with the launch of Assetto Corsa 2 set for 2024 and an increasing number of Assetto Corsa Competizione tournaments, we expect there will soon be a more professional league for the game, which will likely draw attention from the betting community.

This puts it in nearly the same status as F1 esports, which is slowly getting a more professional league structure, and is supported by the F1 organisation.

While most esports betting focuses on CS:GO, DOTA 2 and LOL, certain bookies do offer bets on smaller esports. For example, you could check out betting on F1 esports or Rocket League.

Top Assetto Corsa Esports Tournaments

2022 saw several tournaments for Competizione, most based on specific models or brands in the game.

These branded tournaments included the Alpine Esports series, Ferrari Vellas Esports Series, BMW Sim Time Attack, FIA Motorsport Games, and the Logitech McLaren G Challenge.

Each of these was held over the course of three weeks, often spread over three continents. In many cases, the winner was chosen as the team representative for the brand.

2023 looks to follow a similar format, starting with the 2023 Alpine Esports Series.

Alpine Esports Series 2023

The Alpine Esports Series is the first event to be announced for 2023. Over the course of three weeks, sim racers from around the world will compete for a prize pool of $100,000 in Alpine Fan Tokens, over three iconic circuits. Each racer must use the new Alpine A110 GT4 car.

In order to participate, you need to own the game on Steam, and have purchased GT4 DLC.

The qualifying round was from 27th of March to the 9th of April 2023, and the 35 best drivers made it to the championship stage.

From then, there will be three broadcasts, each with an Endurance Race and a Sprint Race on the same circuit:

  • Paul Ricard (Race 1 & 2): 27th of April – 8:30pm CEST
  • Silverstone (Race 3 & 4): 11th of May – 8:30pm CEST
  • Valencia Ricardo Tormo Circuit (Race 5 & 6): 25th of May – 8:30pm CEST

Where to watch

Other events to look forward to in 2023

While the dates have not been announced yet, we expect a rerun of most of last year’s popular races.

  • Ferrari Vellas Esports Series 2023
  • BMW Sim Time Attack 2023
  • FIA Motorsport Games 2023
  • Logitech McLaren G Challenge 2023

Assetto Corsa Daily Races

Various sites, such as Worldsimseries, also organise their own daily races, which are often broadcast on YouTube. Users can use a public server or create their own. Some of these races even come with cash or merch prizes. However, since these are small, niche events with no official league, betting on Assetto Corsa Daily Races is not available anywhere.

The Growth of Sim Racing

Sim racing has seen a huge growth the past years. It offers the thrill of racing, without an investment in expensive equipment. While sim rigs can be costly, the expense does not compare to that of an actual race car.

Thanks to its realism, players get the benefit of a realistic racing experience, without having to invest in a real car. At the same time, it provides its enthusiasts a sense of belonging and camaraderie, and modding communities have sprung up everywhere.

The popularity is also credited to the global pandemic, which forced many people to stay at home, leading to an increase in sim racing interest as a way to stay entertained and connected with others. Additionally, there is a link to real racing teams and leagues, who lend some of their data to help make the games as realistic as possible.

How Does Assetto Corsa Esports Compare to Other Sim Racing Games?

Other racing sims, including iRacing, Project Cars 2, and rFactor 2 also have a large modding community, and feature highly realistic performances.

What sets Assetto Corsa Competizione apart is that there are more tournaments, with increasingly high prizes and backing from the GT organisation. This gives it a parallel to F1 esports, where the tournaments are similarly tied to the official F1 races and teams.

The racing sim thus has a much more competitive element compared to other driving sims, which focus more on realistic driving.

Summary

While the game is gaining popularity both in terms of esports and for the modding community, Assetto Corsa betting is not available yet at any bookie, but we expect this may become an option in the near future. We hope that there will be a better regulated esports league, which will allow licensed betting sites to offer bets on the esport.
