F1 Esports Betting Guide

F1 esports betting is unique in the sense that most other esports betting markets (such as those for MOBAs and FPS games) cannot be applied here. Instead, unique betting markets are assigned to each F1 esports tournament.

On top of that, the teams are completely dependent on their two drivers. Even if one has a few bad races, this can cause them to lose their chance at winning the entire esports season.

Because of this, betting on F1 is inherently riskier than betting on traditional esports. The pool of potential winners is a lot wider, similar to betting on horses. However, this also means it brings greater reward to those who prefer taking risks.

As with all other types of betting, the first step here is finding a suitable bookie. To do this, you'll need to compare different esports betting operators based on their odds, available betting markets, supported payment methods, and any available bonuses. Then, create an account on their website and link your preferred payment method (such as PayPal, Skrill, credit cards, or Bitcoin).

You should be advised, however, that F1 esports betting is that it isn't as widely available as other popular esports like CS:GO, VALORANT, DOTA 2, or League of Legends. Although some sites such as 22Bet offer virtual races that run constantly, these don't involve any human drivers. Therefore, you may need to search for specific sites that specialise in niche markets such as F1 esports. Fortunately, our above table provides you with some of the best options!

The primary betting process begins the same: you’ll have to find the bookie that fits your betting needs. This is best done by comparing various esports betting operator metrics and singling out one or two bookies out of the bunch. The metrics to look out for are odds, offered betting markets, and supported payment methods. Lastly, you may also choose to include available betting bonuses in your comparison.

F1 Esports Betting Tips

The best way to play F1 esports betting is to make disciplined decisions. This includes choosing the right betting sites, using bonuses to jumpstart your bankroll, managing your budget well, and, of course, finding value bets. We've included some useful tips below.

Set a Realistic Profit Margin

In betting, wins are never guaranteed; as effective as doing proper research is, luck always ends up playing a role. With this in mind, it's important to have a profit margin in mind and stop betting when it's achieved. Never exceed your budget, and avoid chasing your losses – it never leads to any sort of positive outcome.

Develop a Winning Strategy

Having a sound betting strategy in place before you begin placing your bets can greatly increase your chances of success and potentially land significant winnings.

Being a pro in esports doesn't necessarily translate to automatically being expert at esports betting. When you bet, you're up against bookmakers who have extensive resources to calculate profitable odds. Therefore, placing real-money bets on professional-level competitions is challenging and requires discipline, research, patience, and a bit of luck.

Take Advantage of Bonuses

F1 esports bonuses can enhance your bankroll, allowing you to be more adventurous with your wagers at reduced risk to your own funds. Many bookies offer welcome bonuses to new users, which can be a great starting point. However, for every promotion you are interested in claiming, always be sure to read the terms and conditions attached. Handily, the sites we have listed above offer some of the best bonuses around!

Do Your Research

To make informed betting decisions, understand how the game itself works and gather as much information as you can on the event you'd like to bet on. Look up past performances of the top teams taking part, and keep your eyes peeled for any roster updates or changes that may affect their chances of winning.

Formula One Esports Explained

While the sport is rather unique in terms of betting markets, F1 esports is no doubt becoming quite the presence in the esports scene. More sponsors have begun joining, drivers from numerous different esports countries are beginning to make their mark, and the teams we have in F1 esports today are the actual teams that race in real-life Formula One.

The tournaments are made to closely resemble the real thing, hence the need for specific betting markets that are unique to racing games and F1 esports.

F1 Esports Tournaments

F1 esports consists of two main competitions. The first is the F1 Esports Pro Series Championship, which features 10 official F1 Esports teams, each with two drivers.

The second is the Formula One Esports Challengers Series, which is open to anyone who qualifies. The top-performing and most consistent drivers may be invited to try out to achieve a place in one of the teams, but competition is tough, and only the best make it to the top.

Both of these competitions usually take place alongside live F1 events.

In addition to these, there are other F1 esports tournaments such as Twitch Rivals events, regional tournaments, local tournaments, and Sunday-League tournaments, which cater to amateurs. Essentially, F1 esports is open to anyone who wants to test their skills against some of the world's fastest sim racers.

Note: Due to the global pandemic, the Formula One Esports Series was held online from 2020 to 2022.

Formula One Esports Challengers Series 2023

2023 will see Formula One Esports Series return as a cross-platform event (on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC). So far, six online events have been announced, but we anticipate that more will be revealed as additional F1 events are introduced.

  • Bahrain: 19 April 2023 19:00 GMT
  • Australia: 26 April 2023 19:00 GMT
  • Imola (Italy): 3 May 2023 19:00 GMT
  • Silverstone: 10 May 2023 19:00 GMT
  • Spa (Belgium): 17 May 2023 19:00 GMT
  • Brazil: 24 May 2023 19:00 GMT

The top six drivers from each platform will get a chance to duke it out in an online championship. All six events will be streamed live on both Twitch and YouTube.

F1 Pro Championship 2023

While there was an extensive Pro Championship in 2022, no dates for the Pro Championship 2023 have been announced yet.

Additionally, we do not know who the drivers will be for the 10 teams. We speculate that these might be drawn from the best performers at the Challengers Series.

What Is the F1 Esports Pro Series?

The F1 Esports Pro Series is the final stage of professional esports racing championships. At the Pro Series, the rules allow players to compete in up to 50% of races across different events, for which the players and their teams are awarded points.

Last year, there were 12 races spread across four ‘events’, each of which featured three races. Each race weekend consists of the Qualifying round (to determine the driver pecking order for the race) and the race itself.

After all the 12 races have finished, the driver with the most points at the end of the season will win the F1 Esports Pro Series Championship. Teams are also awarded points based on the finishing position of each of their two drivers; the team with the most points wins the ‘Constructors’ championship.

Drivers can eventually reach the Pro Series by being the best among the Challengers; young, up-and-coming drivers who are looking to carve their own path among the greats of F1 esports.

F1 Esports Pro Circuits 2023

There has been no word yet about which circuits will be featured in the 2023 F1 Esports Pro Series Championship, as the new F1 23 game has not been released yet and the tournament is still far off. Still, we can assume that the pro events will be held on these circuits and cross-promoted with the live F1 sport.

F1 23: The Latest Version

The newest addition to the F1 esports family, F1 23, is eagerly anticipated by fans. While the official release date has not yet been announced, it is expected to hit the market in late June or early July. The game promises to feature many upgrades and revamps compared to its predecessor. These improvements are due in part to new rules and regulations set forth by the FIA, the governing body of F1, for the real-life competition. Additionally, the game is expected to provide a more realistic experience by simulating how real F1 cars are driven and operated.

To address concerns raised about cheating in the '22 edition, we expect that F1 23 will have better measures in place to prevent this from happening.

We're also excited about the possibility of supercars being introduced, with F1 Driver Charles Leclerc added fuel to the speculation via a cryptic Instagram post suggesting that they might be included in the game.

Summary

The impact of F1 esports and other esports competitions on the gaming industry cannot be overlooked, with the surge in popularity of these games indicates a promising future for fans.

If you're interested in betting on F1 esports, bear in mind that it does require patience and research. Traditional bookmakers may not offer many options for this type of sport; we've made it easier to find betting sites that do with our carefully compiled list at the beginning of this article.

With a trusted bookie, plenty of research, and our tips at your side, you should be able to go the distance. Best of luck!

F1 Esports Betting FAQs

Formula One Esports Challengers Series will start on 19 April 2023, though there is no word yet on when the Pro Championship will begin.

Unfortunately, we do not have the necessary information to provide a precise answer. Drivers get paid an amount they have agreed to on their contracts, but they also earn money from sponsorships and tournament prize pool money. The amounts listed in the ‘Top Drivers’ table above are amounts solely from prize money, so the total earnings are likely higher.

Brendon Leigh and Jarno Opmeer share the crown of being the drivers with the most F1 Esports Pro Championship Series wins at two. Opmeer is the more consistent of the two and has achieved better results in recent times.

Formula One esports betting differs from traditional esports betting due to the formats and overall concept of the game. As a racing game, bettors can expect to place bets on who will achieve the fastest lap of the race, who will win the race, and more.
