Fnatic vs FaZe Clan – Quarterfinals Betting Prediction CS: GO Intel Extreme Masters XIII Sydney

Intel Extreme Masters Sydney LogoWhat we can say for the IEM XIII Sydney 2018? We’ve been following the progress of some of these teams for quite a while now and let me tell you, it was a rollercoaster of emotions. For example, let’s take a look at how FaZe Clan managed to reach the quarterfinals. They’ve lost to Renegades 2-1 but achieved success in the lower brackets with two consecutive wins (one of which was against C9). This put them back on track and they still have a shot at the finals. Fnatic, on the other hand, managed to win against Chiefs and G2 Esports but lost to Astralis. However, they lost while being in the 3rd round upper bracket, which automatically placed them in the quarterfinals. Other teams that pulled through to the quarter (or semi) finals are TyLoo (who seem to be on a roll after the close opener they had with SK), Astralis (I don’t think we need to say anything here), Renegades (although eliminated by TyLoo in the 3rd round upper bracket still pass to the quarters), and mousesports (who originally lost to Astralis but managed to snatch victory twice in the lower brackets). An eventful tournament is ahead of us, but let’s take a peek at what the forthcoming battle between Fnatic and FaZe could look like.

FaZe regroups after Renegades loss

The match against Renegades was a nail-biter in the end. We saw the battle raging on the Inferno where it was a close call, but ultimately, FaZe got the short end of the stick. Fortunately, FaZe didn’t get ‘fazed’ by this loss and they just came back stronger. It took them a little bit extra when they encountered Grayhound who, despite losing massively to C9, still managed to beat SK. Grayhound took the first round on Mirage, but just couldn’t make it stick. FaZe got the next two rounds. Then came C9 and.. well.. it was a wash. All C9 players had a negative kill ratio. ‘Nuff said. So what’s in store for them against Fnatic? If NiKo and co keep this momentum going, they could beat Fnatic. But before we reach a conclusion, let’s take a look at Fnatic as well.

Fnatic demoralized after losing to Astralis?

The loss that Fnatic encountered against Astralis must be a devastating one. Not a single player on their roster had 35+ kills (except JW who had exactly 35) and it was all over fairly quickly. Astralis won 16:9 on Overpass, and 16:7 on Cache. By looking at the results, it seems as though Fnatic is on a downward spiral. Deleting Chiefs was easy, then came G2 Esports who took the first round, but Fnatic bounced back, and then they were stopped in their tracks by Astralis who showed them how it’s done. Could this be the end of the line for Fnatic?

Who will prevail and reach the next stage?

In my humble opinion, there’s a strong inclination towards FaZe as the winners of this duel. Simply by looking at the results, we can see that they overcame their initial defeat and came back even stronger. Also, their consistent and powerful plays could be a sign of things to come.

However, there’s a reason why Fnatic is often a ’wildcard’ of sorts. They might seem lost at times; not knowing what to do. But we can’t disregard the fact that they perform well when under a lot of pressure.

Unfortunately, I don’t think that Fnatic will be able to bounce back, even with their track record of critical matches.
