Decades after the release of 1.6, CS:GO remains as one of the largest esports with a dedicated following behind it. So much so that even cryptocurrency casino, Roobet, wants to join in the fun by hosting the Roobet CSGO Cup 2022. With sixteen of the world’s best teams invited to the tournament, the Roobet Cup will be sure to turn heads this June.

How to Bet on the Roobet Cup 2022

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is the forerunner of the FPS genre in esports. As such, it has one of the most developed betting markets across esports alongside legacy esports such as League of Legends and Dota 2. As such, there’s a whole lot of ways you can make your money’s worth when betting on CS:GO. Whether it’s moneyline wagers, handicap bets, totals, prop bets, or futures, there’s a lot of options for you to explore in our in-depth CS:GO betting guide.

But before anything else, you should start by familiarizing yourself with how FPS’s like CS:GO work in the first place. Though it might look simplistic at first with its hunt-and-shoot gameplay, there’s a lot of strategy and mechanics involved in the process. Since the game became free-to-play in 2018, you can now even easily learn the game by logging on to Steam and trying it out for yourself. Check out our beginner’s guide to FPS titles to get yourself a head start.

Once you’re down with the basics, you can even head on to platforms like ProGuides or hear from former professionals such as voo CSGO to learn more about the game in-depth. By knowing the ins and outs of the competition, you can be one step ahead of the game and win your bets more often.

Moneyline Betting

As it is in any tournament you will be betting on, whether it be classics like CS:GO, up-and-coming titles like VALORANT, or any genre of esports games really, moneyline bets are the easiest way to get into the market. Whether its best-of-ones or best-of-threes, simply predict which team you think will win the match and confirm your entry. This is the perfect type of bet for those just starting to get into CS:GO and veterans who have been following the scene for years. Like in business, predicting an upset would mean a greater reward for the greater risk that you put into your bet. As such, doing your research early on could net you good gains to take home!

Total Betting

Total betting is the next step for those who want to up their CS:GO betting game. It works in the same way as over/under betting where you predict if the game will go over or under a score or metric. In CS:GO, total betting can refer to a number of different things. It can refer to Total Maps played, Total rounds played, and Team Total kills. All of which predicting whether the total maps, rounds, or total kills will go over or under a certain threshold. For example, predicting whether a map will have over or under 26.5 rounds.

It can be useful to look at stat platforms (such as HLTV and Rotowire) to see the patterns in a team or player’s playstyle. In the PGL Major Antwerp 2022, the dominant FaZe Clan averaged 24.5 rounds in Nuke with a 100% W/R over 4 games. And taking a look at the maps they played, they only dropped maps in Overpass, Mirage, and Inferno.

Furthermore, teams can have varying stats depending on the map played as players can only have mastery over a limited map pool. As such, you can do your research for stats per map to see whether teams like to play it close (2-1) or close out their series in one fell swoop. These are good metrics to set a baseline on if you want to proceed with total betting.

Handicap Betting

As its name suggests, handicap betting puts a handicap in the favor of the match by requiring them to win by a set margin for it to be considered a win. Just as in total betting, you can place handicap bets for maps and rounds as well. Handicap bets are easier explained by example.

For instance, a +1.5 map handicap for a best-of-three series means that the team you’re betting on only needs to win one (1) game to secure your payout. On the other hand, a -1.5 map handicap means that they need to win in a straight 2-0. This puts the burden on the stronger team to win convincingly when compared to the +1.5 map handicap which doesn’t require the team you’re betting on to win the series.

Round handicaps work in the same way but work towards 16 (the number of rounds it takes to win a game of CS:GO). For example, you want to place a -3.5 round handicap on Astralis against G2 Esports. That means that they need to win with a score of 16-12 at the maximum for your bet to be considered a win. Meanwhile, a +4.5 round handicap means that the team only needs to reach 12 round wins in order to reach the threshold to win.

Prop Betting

Lastly, we have propositional betting which is one of the more difficult betting formats. In CS:GO, there are occurrences in-game that do not necessarily decide the game such as first bloods, the outcome of pistol rounds, overtime, and so much more. Through prop bets, you can put your game knowledge to the test and try to guess what will exactly go on in-game.

If you want to go even further, you can even bet on player specials. These prop bets include predicting the player with the most kills, most headshot kills, highest average damage, highest HLTV rating, and even total bets for their average damage per round or total kills. Lastly, you can even bet on outright tournament winners or teams to reach the final even before the tournament begins!

Be wary because this kind of betting needs a lot of research, but of course, has a higher payoff. Predicting whether a knife kill will happen or if a player will be able to ace the opposing team are among the few ways you can place prop bets as of right now. Though you won’t always be able to find these bets up and running, it can be fun to test your hand at them when you do get the chance!

What is the Roobet Cup?

The Roobet Cup 2022 is an S-tier, invite-only CS:GO event hosted by its namesake cryptocurrency casino, Roobet. The Kangaroo-hosted tournament has one of the highest prize pools in this year’s lineup of tournaments and as such, will be sure to have all the invited teams in their best forms. The tournament is held online with teams primarily hailing from Europe.

History of Roobet Cup 2022

Announced last month of May, the Roobet Cup 2022 is the debut tournament hosted by its sponsor with the same name (inspired by the Kangaroo). Thus far, the Roobet is the first among betting casinos to fully sponsor a premier tournament in CS:GO with such a hefty prizing to back it up; of which, is a testament to the growing influence of cryptocurrencies.

Being a sponsored event with influential teams joining the competition, the Roobet Cup 2022 will be drawing in quite the audience for Roobet and similar betting platforms alike. However, only time will tell if the Roobet Cup will be the first of many more sponsored tournaments to be hosted or the first and last of its kind given the amount of investment it will take to run one of this magnitude and scale.

Tournament Format: Following the Classics

The Roobet Cup 2022 will be following in the footsteps of tried-and-true tournaments such as the upcoming BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 and Elisa Masters 2022. The tournament will start with a four double-elimination format (GSL) Groups with the Top 2 teams from each group advancing to the playoffs. These matches will all be played in best-of-three series with the map pool including Ancient, Dust II, Inferno, Mirage, Nuke, Overpass, and Vertigo.

Coming into the playoffs however, the Roobet Cup will be having a single-elimination bracket with only best-of-three series all the way to the finals. Unfortunately for viewers and bettors alike, this means that there will be fewer series and games to follow by June 22. From sixteen invited teams, only one can stay at the top.

Roobet Cup 2022 Prize Pool

Though far from the glory one can achieve at tournaments like the Intel Extreme Masters, the PGL Majors, or the BLAST Premier World Finals, the Roobet Cup still boasts a $250,000 prize pool to be divided amongst its winners. To get there, it will only take the champions about five to six series wins to claim their $150,000 at first place.

Pretty neat, right? But aside from that, this tournament will serve as practice for the real competition in the IEM XVII – Cologne which sports an impressive $1,000,000 prize pool in July. So, just because the tournament doesn’t count towards circuit points, there’s only good to be gained from winning at the Roobet Cup 2022.

Competing Teams in Roobet CSGO Cup 2022

As mentioned earlier, the Roobet Cup is an invite-only tourney with teams primarily coming from Europe and esports teams coming from countries across the world such as North America, CIS, and South America.

From the start of the Group Stage, the sixteen invited teams will be divided into four groups with four teams each. These teams will then fight their way up one series at a time to get to the Grand Finals. Get to know the following teams that will be competing in the tourney:

Roobet Cup 2022 Betting Odds, Tips & Predictions

Though being the first tournament sponsored by a cryptocurrency casino, the Kangaroo-run Roobet Cup features familiar faces that regularly compete in the biggest esports tournaments in CS:GO. As such, we can more or less predict who will be walking out of the Roobet CS:GO cup on top.

Roobet CSGO Cup 2022 Betting Tips and Predictions

If we look at the past year, we can see how FaZe Clan has wreaked havoc across the IEM, ESL, and PGL tourneys getting championship after championship in the first half of 2022. Consistency is the name of the game in a title as senior as CS:GO and it shows on-stage when it matters. Although it may be as simple as checking the HLTV rankings to see who qualifies per group, make sure to be on the lookout for those sneaky upsets across the tournament.

Qualifiers Per Group

While it may be convenient to check the HLTV or GosuGamers rankings and simply call it a day, you need to put in the research to make sure you're only placing high-percentage bets. Remember to check out team and player stats and then recent tourney results of teams to ensure that you’re getting your money’s worth. But for now, we’ll make it easy for you and list down who we think will be coming out on top in the Group Stage at least.

Group A: The Big Hitters

  1. FaZe Clan
  2. BIG

It doesn’t have to be said that betting on FaZe Clan here is a no-brainer as the team has consistently performed in the 2022 season amassing over a million dollars already in winnings! Their win at Antwerp signifies the org’s first-ever CS:GO Major championship as well. Meanwhile, BIG have been hovering around the Top 4 standings in tourneys like the Pinnacle Cup Championship and IEM XVII – Dallas. This is after considering that OG have just rebuilt their roster with Entropiq struggling to find their footing only managing to get consistent Top 8ths.

Group B: In the Skies

  1. Cloud9
  2. Astralis

Coming off the grill hot from their win at IEM Dallas, Cloud9, consisting of the former Gambit Esports lineup, is looking to continue their streak at another premier tournament in Roobet Cup 2022. Although Gambit has been consistently good last year, it was only until their acquisition with Cloud9 that they began to take off and who knows where they can reach now that they’ve tasted greatness. On the other hand, Astralis cruise ahead of Complexity and Movistar Riders in our predictions. Although their changes to their coaching staff might just be the difference maker in these upcoming series at Roobet CSGO.

Group C: #EUWIN

  1. ENCE
  2. MOUZ

ENCE fell short 0-3 against Cloud9 in IEM Dallas and will be sure to redeem themselves in the Roobet Cup. The team has been on an upward trend since acquiring Pavle “maden” Bošković from FunPlus Phoenix in early 2022, which comfortably puts them ahead of the competition. Meanwhile, MOUZ has been steadily incorporating their academy roster from MOUZ NXT to their main roster which has led to better performances in the past year. Of which, there seems nowhere to go but up for their up-and-coming roster. With the org’s history of dominance in 2018-2019, we’ll see if they can have their return to form in 2020.

Group D: Outsiders

  1. FURIA Esports
  2. Outsiders

On the other side of the world, FURIA Esports stands as one of the few remaining “North American” teams competitive enough to beat the best of the best. The team would only lose to eventual champions in C9 and FaZe respectively in past tourneys. Joining them would be the Outsiders, formerly known as Virtus.pro. Though missing playoffs in the PGL Major Antwerp 2022, they should be able to compete versus the likes of forZe and 9z Team who are considered to be in the lower tiers due to the lack of showings they have in bigger tourneys.

Where to Watch the Roobet CSGO Cup 2022

Starting June 22, you can stay tuned to the debut of the Roobet Cup 2022 on Roobet Esports on Twitch. To keep up-to-date to all the results and announcements, you can head on to Liquipedia, Twitter, and Instagram. Matches begin as early as 14:00 CET from June 22 to 30, 2022.

Esports Betting Pro: Our Verdict

In the upcoming Roobet Cup, FaZe is entering the competition as the undisputed favorites. However, that doesn’t mean that we should call it this early. Cloud9, ENCE, and FURIA Esports could easily rise up and contest FaZe in the coming playoffs should they let their guard down. If Cloud9 did it once, that means that anything is possible — especially considering that the Roobet Cup is outside the qualifying tourneys. But as long as you balance out the risks that you’re taking when placing bets on your chosen teams, you’re good to go.
