Quarter-Finals – LCS NA Spring Playoffs 2015

The Quarter-Finals of the NA LCS Spring Split are running on Saturday, April 4th and Sunday, April 5th right after the EU LCS Quarter-Finals. In the first match CLG fights against Team Liquid and the second quarter-final is Team Impulse vs. Gravity. All matches are played best of 5 – the first team that gets 3 wins will advance to the Semi-Finals where TSM and Cloud9 are waiting. Like the regular season, the NA Quarter-finals will take place at the LCS Studios in Los Angeles.

Preview and Predictions Quarter-Finals NA Spring Playoffs

The 2015 NA LCS Spring Split is now over and the top 6 teams are ready to battle it out for a chance to become the 2015 NA LCS Spring Playoffs Champions. With Team SoloMid and Cloud9 getting the 1st and 2nd place in the Spring Split respectively, they have first round byes and are automatically placed in the semifinals.

The remaining teams are placed in the quarterfinals and will have to play against each other. Who among the remaining teams will move on to face Team SoloMid and Cloud9 in the semifinals? Will it be the powerhouse Counter Logic Gaming? The new and improved Team Impulse? The former Curse Academy, Gravity? Or Piglet and Team Liquid? First thing first, here are my predictions for the 2 quarter finals of the NA LCS spring playoffs.

Quarter-Final #1: Logo of LCS NA Team CLG COUNTER LOGIC GAMING vs. Team Liquid - LCS NA Team Logo TEAM LIQUID

Head to Head Record in regular Season: Counter Logic Gaming 0 : 2 Team Liquid
(April 4th, 12:00 AM PDT/3:00 PM EDT/09:00 PM CEST)

Logo of LCS NA Team CLGCounter Logic Gaming: They have always been one of the strongest teams in North America and this season, they placed 3rd behind Cloud9 in the 2015 NA LCS Spring Split. Doublelift is still one of the best marksmen in the region and had the highest GPM (gold per minute) in the season with 422. Link had improved through the course of the season and is now a premier mid laner alongside C9 Hai and TSM Bjergsen.

They easily defeated Team 8 but lost to Team Impulse during the final week of the season. They were very consistent against teams of lower standings but had a hard time against top teams as they were not able to defeat Team SoloMid and had a split with Cloud9 during the course of the season.

Team Liquid - LCS Team LogoTeam Liquid: A whole new roster under a new team name, Team Liquid is the former Team Curse and is now one of teams that were able to berth a spot in the quarter finals of the playoffs. As the former AD carry of the 2013 World Champions, Piglet has moved on from LCK to NA and became the AD carry of Team Liquid. Xpecial has become the support of Team Liquid while Quas,, IWDominate, and FeniX filled the top, jungler, and mid lane position respectively.

They were 2-0 in the first week of the season when KEITH, as substitute for Piglet, was the AD carry of the team. After Piglet came back and became the AD carry, Team Liquid went on a 1-3 record and struggle from then on. Although they were able to rise through the standings, their communication and teamplays still suffers mostly during crucial moments.

PREDICTION: Team Liquid defeated Counter Logic Gaming twice in the season with KEITH, as a substitute for Piglet, leading the KDA ratio for both games. Although KEITH showed unexpected results, Piglet is still the main ADC of the team. If Team Liquid decides to let Piglet play in this series, this will be the first time he will play against Doublelift. Although I vote for Counter Logic Gaming, this will be an interesting series as two ADC superstars will battle it out and only one will emerge victorious.

Quarter-Final #2: Team Impulse - LCS NA Team Logo TEAM IMPULSE vs. Gravity - LCS NA Team Logo GRAVITY

Head to Head Record in regular Season: Team Impulse 2 : 0 Gravity
(April 5th, 12:00 AM PDT/3:00 PM EDT/09:00 PM CEST)

Team Impulse - LCS NA Team LogoTeam Impulse: As the former Team LMQ, Team Impulse was formed last December 26th with a new roster including Korean solo queue superstar Rush, former top laner of SK Telecom T1 K Impact, and a recipient of League of Legends sport scholarship Adrian.

Their performances in the 2015 NA Spring Split were beyond expectations as they were able to defeat teams such as Team SoloMid and Cloud9. Although they have their share of flaws and inconsistencies, they were the most improved team this season as they were able to climb their way to 4th place at the end of the season which got them into this quarter-final.

Gravity - LCS Team LogoGravity: Curse Academy was rebranded as Gravity and retains its original roster of Saintvicious, Keane, Cop, Hauntzer, and Bunny FuFuu. They were able to win the 2015 NA LCS Expansion Tournament after several unsuccessful runs in the NA Challenger Series.

Gravity was able to defeat Team SoloMid, Cloud9, and Counter Logic Gaming in the 2015 Spring Split at least once. Cop has been the most consistent player of the team, averaging a KDA of 5.8. He is also in the top 5 players with the highest GPM (gold per minute) this season, sporting a 415 GPM. Bunny FuFuu was also a tremendous help as for the team as his synergy with Cop was one of the key factors of Gravity’s success.

PREDICTION: Gravity will have a hard time against Team Impulse in this series as the two have met twice in the 2015 NA Spring Split with Team Impulse emerging victorious for both occasions. Team Impulse early success will be attributed to Rush’s gank pressure and lane presence and if he can execute them properly, this will be an easy series for Team Impulse.
