The EU LCS Playoffs have started and the Quarterfinals showed great promise to the middle teams and their run towards being one of the top three teams to represent the European LCS region at the League of Legends World Championship 2014. Last week during the EU Quarter-finals, a revitalized Roccat destroyed Supa Hot Crew who was the crowd’s favorite. Meanwhile, SK Gaming did not let Millenium pass the Quarterfinals and so Millenium ended up with no wins in their matches. With that, Millenium and Supa Hot Crew will fight for their lives in the LCS as the loser will drop down to relegation while Roccat and SK Gaming advanced to the Semi-Finals of the European LCS Summer Split Playoffs to face .

Supa Hot Crew versus Millenium | Playoffs Match for 5th place
(August 14th, 9:00 PDT/ 11:00 EDT/ 17:00 CEST)
(Head to Head in Season 4 Summer Split: SHC 2-2 against Millenium)
Last week, Supa Hot Crew and were favorites for winning their matches but in the end, it was their opponent who grabbed the seed towards the Semi-finals. Supa Hot Crew was not present during their matches against Roccat while Roccat was clearly prepared when they landed on the LCS Stage. SELFIE was the clear victim of the team as he always got caught left and right in the first two matches. Although he has carried the game on Game 3, it was not a valiant effort for the team as well. There were several miscommunications on Impaler and the other team mates hence they suffered greatly by losing the match.
Millenium on the other hand seemed to be out of place. They were not able to adapt quickly hence SK beat them with the same strategy three times in a row. Millenium knew what was happening so they needed to do what they do best and try to push through a pick composition and yet they stood by a teamfighting composition which they clearly do not have the advantage knowing that teamfighting compositions need to farm well in the game. Millenium needed a pick composition in order to snowball the game in their favor but they failed to realize it.
This week, it will be their chance to show off who can adapt well into the series. Based on both showings, it will be Supa Hot Crew who has the better chances of landing the fifth spot as Millenium seem to fail in terms of adapting throughout the entire series.
Prediction: 3-2 in favor of Supa Hot Crew
Semi-Final #1: Fnatic vs Roccat
(August 15th, 2:00 PDT/ 05:00 EDT/ 11:00 CEST)
(Head to Head in Season 4 Summer Split: Fantic 4-0 against Roccat)
Last week, Roccat came prepared with their match against Supa Hot Crew but this time, they will be facing three time champion Fnatic. Over the course of the Summer Split, Roccat has never won a single match against Fnatic. Even during their downtime, Roccat seemed to be struggling against Fnatic but this time, that might not be the case. Roccat played very strong against Supa Hot Crew last week and such momentum can be powerful to raise the morale of the team. Will they be able to beat Fnatic this time around?
Fnatic, on the other hand, always has this history of getting beaten down in the middle of the split and rise up to the occasion when it is needed. As always, they struggled throughout the entire split and in the last second, decided to pick up the pieces and hit the gears to second place. With the meta favoring them once more, it will be Fnatic who are primed to win this match.
Prediction: 3-0 in favor of Fnatic.
Semi-Final #2: Alliance vs SK Gaming
(August 15th, 7:00 PDT/ 10:00 EDT/ 16:00 CEST)
(Head to Head in Season 4 Summer Split: Alliance 3-1 against SK Gaming)
Alliance dominated the entire summer split this season. They have improved by leaps and bounds from the spring split where they would only win on even numbered weeks. This split, they showed just how much they have a clear understanding of their roles, the meta, and their opponents. Alliance is the force to be reckoned with in the EU LCS and is the crowd favorite to take the top spot followed by Fnatic. The third spot will have to be fought over by Roccat or SK Gaming.
Speaking of SK Gaming, the team showed great cohesion in last week’s games but this week, they will be facing a very tough match against Alliance. SK will make a valiant effort in adapting to Alliance but all throughout the split, they have only managed to snatch a single win against Alliance. This will be very difficult for SK now that they are up against the big leagues. There is little chance that SK can manage to defeat a strong team like Alliance and if they do, it will be a close to a miracle.
Prediction: 3-0 in favor of Alliance.
