Week 6 – NA LCS Spring Split 2018

We have waited endless weeks for the start of the LCS Season 8 but with Week 6 of the LCS Spring Split the regular season is already more than halfway through. Only one single month of regular league matches lies ahead of the playoff stage of the Spring Season and the 2018 Mid-Season Invitational tournament is already getting off to a flying start. If you take a look at the NA LCS standings you will this time not find the American bedrocks and fan favorites Team SoloMid and Counter Logic Gaming at the top of the table. The season so far has been dominated by Echo Fox and Cloud9 – in an exciting duel in Week 5 team owner Rick Fox's protégés were able to secure their sole place on the top of the standings. The LCS favourites are slowly emerging and all teams will do their utmost to secure a place for the playoffs of the Spring Split. Week 6 of the NA LCS Spring Split 2018 starts on February 24th and keep in mind that the starting times for the NA LCS Saturday games have changed since last week. NA LCS 2018 Week 6 OPT vs TSMMatch #1: Optic Gaming NA LCS 2018 Team Logo OpTic Gaming vs. Team SoloMid Team Logo TSM NA LCS 2018 small

February 25th, 2018: 12:00 PM PST / 03:00 PM EST / 21:00 CET

Prediction: If the upcoming playoff stage of the North American LCS would already be approaching next weak, Counter Logic Gaming would miss the final phase of the Spring Split and Team SoloMid would have to fight FlyQuest for a direct advancement. The North American favourites have suffered bitter defeats against both Cloud9 and Clutch Gaming in the past few weeks and are only on sixth place on the table – within playoff range by a hair's breadth. But also for OpTic Gaming the Spring Season 2018 has not been very satisfying so far, with only three victories the challengers can be found even lower in the standings. Bjergsen and his teammates need to step up right now so they don't lose the connection to the top teams of the NA LCS – I'm expecting a 1-0 victory for Team SoloMid.

NA LCS 2018 Week 6 FLY vs 100Match #2: FlyQuest NA LCS 2018 Team Logo FlyQuest vs. 100 Thieves 100 Thieves NA LCS 2018 Team Logo

February 25th, 2018: 01:00 PM PST / 04:00 PM EST / 22:00 CET

Some moves and team fights of the 100 Thieves were on a knife's edge in an exciting duel against Cloud9 but blinking hitpoint bars could not prevent Ryu and his teammates from a glorious victory on Summoner's Rift. After a few difficult weeks and even a defeat against the last place team of Golden Guardian the team finally seems to be back on track and Jungler Meteos also got the revenge against his ex-team mate and friend Sneaky. Against Counter Logic Gaming support player aphromoo unpacked his surprise champion Bard, against Cloud9 he convinced with brilliant Thresh hooks and led his team to success. But also the South Korean solo laners Ssumday and Ryu know how to convince and the team finally seems to concentrate on their own game – with success! The FlyQuest team – together with Team SoloMid – can be found on sixth place in the standings and should pick up a gear in the final weeks of the season to secure a playoff spot. After Midlaner Fly was added to the team's roster their chances of success increased dramatically – but the other LCS teams were able to quickly adapt to the style of the South Korean superstar player and banished or countered his roaming strategy with very agile champions. Two weeks ago these teams clashed on Summoner's Rift, at that time FlyQuest was ahead of the pack and the challengers secured a clear victory. However, after the great victory of the 100 Thieves on the first day of play the cards have been reshuffled and an exciting duel lies ahead of us.

Prediction: The FlyQuest team has already been able to declassify the players of the 100 Thieves and achieve a certain success but since then there have been very mixed results for Flame and his teammates. According to their own statements the 100 Thieves have had a strong training week and have already been able to throw a top team off the track. In this duel I expect an easy 1-0 victory for the 100 Thieves.

NA LCS 2018 Week 6 FOX vs TLMatch #3: Team Logo Echo Fox NA LCS 2018 small Echo Fox vs. Team Liquid Team Logo Liquid

February 25th, 2018: 02:00 PM PST / 05:00 PM EST / 23:00 CET

The second top match of the week marks the clash of two North American top teams – Echo Fox and Team Liquid. With the acquisition of Toplaner Huni from SK Telecom T1 team owner Rick Fox demonstrated enourmous competence before the start of the 2018 Spring Split, it seems as if the South Korean superstar would bring the success to all of his Western employers. According to his teammate Dardoch the current form of Huni is not even near his skill ceiling and he could easily spoil the North American League of Legends fans with great international results. But not only the toplane and jungle positions of the team are convincing all critics at the moment, Fenix in the midlane also produces some of the best statistics in the league and dominates all his opponents on Summoner's Rift. With justification this Echo Fox team is back at the top of the table and Team Liquid has already had a hard time in this duel once. If you take a look at the most recent results of the Liquid team their results are somewhat meager. Doublelift and his teammates were only able to win one of their last four matches, the gap between the team and the top of the league is widening and already amounts three consecutive victories. At the start of the season the team was still able to show great results, the botlane-centric playing style seemed to be successful, toplaner Impact was able to keep his opponents in check and Pobelter was able to decide games almost on his own in favor of Team Liquid. In the last few weeks Impact seems to be unable to cope with his direct competitors and the self-proclaimed 200 IQ midlaner is only a non-factor in their matches. A play-off place for the Liquid team is almost guaranteed but the Echo Fox players are the current front runners and should be able to take this game again.

Prediction: Toplaner Impact seems to be at a low point at the moment and it sure doesn't help that he has to face superstar Huni this time on Summoner's Rift. The dominance of the Echo Fox team is undisputed and the mediocre form of Team Liquid should not be an obstacle to the leading team. In this match I expect a 1-0 victory for Echo Fox.

NA LCS 2018 Week 6 CLG vs GGSMatch #4: Team Logo CLG DreamHack Montreal 2017 Counter Logic Gaming vs. Golden Guardians Golden Guardians NA LCS 2018 Team Logo

February 25th, 2018: 03:00 PM PST / 06:00 PM EST / 00:00 CET (the next day)

Prediction: It is slowly becoming harder and harder for the players of Counter Logic Gaming, a playoff spot will be more difficult to reach from week to week. An impressive defeat series lies behind the team and above all the botlane and Reignover in the jungle disappoint many fans and experts. The Golden Guardians have already won a few victories but besides OpTic Gaming the team has still one of the weakest squads in the North American LCS. This duel could be more exciting than expected and I predict a close 1-0 victory for Counter Logic Gaming.

NA LCS 2018 Week 6 C9 vs CGMatch #5: Team Logo Cloud9 Cloud9 vs. Clutch Gaming Clutch Gaming NA LCS 2018 Team Logo

February 25th, 2018: 04:00 PM PST / 07:00 PM EST / 01:00 CET (the next day)

Prediction: Two weeks ago the Cloud9 team was praised as perhaps the strongest team in the league, after that Jensen and his teammates suffered two bitter defeats against Echo Fox and the 100 Thieves. The second place in the standings is still secured but the challengers of Clutch Gaming are already very close to Sneaky and Co. The bearers of hope wearing the jerseys of CG are midlaner Febiven and Lira in the jungle. Especially the European superstar plays a great season so far and often leads his team to success on his own. This match will be very exciting but I expect a 1-0 victory for Cloud9.

NA LCS 2018 Week 6 100 vs C9Match #1: 100 Thieves NA LCS 2018 Team Logo 100 Thieves vs. Cloud9 Team Logo Cloud9

February 24th, 2018: 02:00 PM PST / 05:00 PM EST / 23:00 CET

Last week we saw the 100 Thieves regain some of their momentum as the team scored 1-1 after a surprising defeat to Golden Guardians, the last of the standings, despite a difficult schedule. Echo Fox turned out to be a bit too big on the first day of the week, the opponent Top Laner Huni even dared to lock in Yasuo to have a good match-up against Gnar. Echo Fox made a quick process and finished the game after just over 30 minutes. But on the second matchday the 100 Thieves showed their courage and chose Sion for the Top Lane and Bard for the support position, although this has been Aphromoos signature champion for some splits now and therefore caused little surprise. The 100 Thieves must follow exactly where they left off to have a chance against the overwhelming Cloud9 team. Last week C9 lost the lead of the standings and is now one point behind Echo Fox, who proved to be much stronger in the direct duel. But that was also because Licorice wanted to win the duel against Huni with a Lucian pick, but Echo Fox focused him and ganked him repeatedly and he ended up with 7 deaths and not a single kill. In my opinion, the Top Lane is also a great opportunity for the 100 Thieves, because although Licorice has often distinguished himself as a good carry, his performances are not 100% constant and so far it has been difficult for him if he is already put under pressure in the laning phase.

Prediction: In spite of the weak performance against Echo Fox, Cloud9 is one of the strongest teams in NA LCS. Jensen and Sneaky are in good shape and should not give the 100 Thieves a chance. I expect a 0-1 victory for Cloud9.

NA LCS 2018 Week 6 CLG vs CGMatch #2: Team Logo CLG DreamHack Montreal 2017 Counter Logic Gaming vs.  Clutch Gaming Clutch Gaming NA LCS 2018 Team Logo

February 24th, 2018: 03:00 PM PST / 06:00 PM EST / 00:00 CET (the next day)

Prediction: Clutch gaming has improved dramatically over the past few weeks and has now been unbeaten for four games. The team even won twice in two weeks against TSM and is now in third place in the standings, only 2 points behind Cloud9 and 3 points ahead of the disappointing Counter Logic Gaming. I therefore expect a 0-1 victory for Clutch Gaming.

NA LCS 2018 Week 6 TSM vs FOXMatch #3: Team Logo TSM NA LCS 2018 small Team SoloMid vs. Echo Fox Team Logo Echo Fox NA LCS 2018 small

February 24th, 2018: 04:00 PM PST / 07:00 PM EST / 01:00 CET (the next day)

The top game of the evening or maybe even the top game of the week will take place this time between Team SoloMid and Echo Fox. Although TSM is one of the few teams that can still stand up to Echo Fox, the chances of a victory in this game are poor. Most recently, TSM was defeated twice by Clutch Gaming and was beaten by its eternal rival Cloud9. Although the worst performances come from MikeYeung in the jungle, Zven and Mithy are particularly disappointing as they were expected to be Europe's best bot lane and to conquer NA LCS with ease. Only Mid Laner Bjergsen seems to be able to lead the team into the playoffs at the moment, because with only 4 victories out of 10 games, TSM fans would soon have to bury their playoff hopes too. Echo Fox is certainly not the best opponent to plan for a victory. While Huni has so far been able to make a name for himself on the Top Lane, Fenix and Altec have also shown their enormous quality and that they can take the lead. The first place in the table might be given to Echo Fox until the end of the split, in the playoffs the cards will be shuffled, because there is no Best-of-1 in use.

Prediction: Echo Fox seems unstoppable at the moment and will also benefit in their first match of the week from the bad form of TSM players. In the next few weeks, TSM will have easier games ahead of them, in which the team should finally secure the playoff seed. I expect this game to result in a 0-1 victory for Echo Fox.

NA LCS 2018 Week 6 GGS vs OPTMatch #4:Golden Guardians NA LCS 2018 Team Logo Golden Guardians vs. OpTic Gaming Optic Gaming NA LCS 2018 Team Logo

February 24th, 2018: 05:00 PM PST / 08:00 PM EST / 02:00 CET (the next day)

Prediction: The penultimate against last, a game that promises tension in any case. The Golden Guardians won last week against no one less than Team Liquid. Suddenly, the Guardians have a chance to not finish last in the standings, with only one point separating them from the OpTic Gaming team. Due to the performances in the past weeks, I expect a 1-0 victory for the Golden Guardians.

NA LCS 2018 Week 6 TL vs FLYMatch #5: Team Logo Liquid Team Liquid vs. FlyQuest FlyQuest NA LCS 2018 Team Logo

February 24th, 2018: 06:00 PM PST / 09:00 PM EST / 03:00 CET (the next day).

Prediction: The first clash of the two teams took place three weeks ago, at that time Team Liquid was still in good form and could win the duel. Meanwhile, however, TL is weakening and has recently suffered a defeat against the Golden Guardians, but FlyQuest is still struggling to maintain consistent performance as well. I think that TL has reacted to the difficulties of the last few weeks and can improve significantly, so I expect a 1-0 victory for Team Liquid.
