Lane kingdom, LoL dynasty or Kings of Europe – these are only some expressions regarding the proud ancient times of the European LCS and with the Grand Finals of the 2018 Summer Split playoffs history will be written again. After some pretty though seasons the FC Schalke 04 players will finally make their first appearance in the most important match of the 2018 EU LCS and have everything in hand to directly qualify for the 2018 League of Legends World Championship. But their opponent is no less than the European title holder Fnatic and Rekkles and his team-mates will do everything to defend their LCS crown. Like Cloud9 in North America Fnatic is the only team in Europe who can perfectly utilize a 6-man roster to increase their variety of strategies. While their semi-final series against the Misfits was pretty one-sided the FC Schalke 04 only had some minor problems against their former opponents. The match for 3rd place is also pretty important for Team Vitality as there are juicy Championship points on the line. The European LCS will spoil all League of Legends fans with an amazing series on September 9th, so don't miss turning in on the tick for more eye-popping action on Summoner's Rift.

No matter if victory or defeat, with the success in the 2018 Spring Split and the participation in the Grand Finals of the Summer Split, the Fnatic team is already sure to qualify for the 2018 League of Legends World Championship. Grand Finals: FC Schalke 04 vs. Fnatic
September 9th, 08:00 AM PDT / 11:00 PM EDT / 17:00 CET
For almost a year now we've been hearing praise from most of the EU LCS teams for the performances of the FC Schalke 04 squad in scrims but unfortunately the big success on stage failed to appear until recently. But after a really disappointing Spring Split without a qualification for the playoffs the challengers have increased their gameplay drastically over the course of the summer season and earned their spot in the Grand Finals of the 2018 Summer Split after some hard-fought victories. However, with Fnatic the defending champion of the EU LCS crown is waiting on Summoner's Rift – ready to defend their title with all means. The Fnatic team clearly has the advantage of being able to choose between different iterations of their roster in best-of-5 series. With sOAZ and Bwipo the two best European toplaners are in the line-up of the reigning champion and the newcomer of the year can even fill Rekkles' position on the botlane. Midlaner Caps is better than ever and even outshined competitor Perkz this season. Due to the flexibility of the 6-man roster there will definitely be some surprises for the Schalke team and it becomes very difficult to prepare for the many possible strategies. In addition, Fnatic's performances during the split were much more consistent – not without reason Rekkles and his teammates secured the first place of the regular season. A possible victory for the FC Schalke 04 team definitely leads over advantages in midlane and botlane but Caps should at least neutralize his direct opponent Nukeduck. The experienced veteran Amazing could also make the difference in this duel but Fnatic is definitely the favourite in this match.
Prediction: Not only on paper does the Fnatic team seem stronger, also in terms of experience in finals and other important matches should Caps and his team-mates be ahead of the competition. Even if AD carry Upset showed very strong performances in their last games, he is facing an experienced duo with Hylissang and Rekkles. The betting odds speak for themselves, I expect in the Grand Finals of the 2018 Summer Split playoffs a clean 1-3 victory for Fnatic.
