Week 6 – NA LCS Summer Split 2017

Schedule and Results – 2017 NA LCS Summer Split Week 6

Now that the Rift Rivals 2017 are over and NA has proved itself as the better region, it will be interesting to watch how the three participants perform after the intense tournament. Maybe they have difficulties to adapt to the different playstyle in NA or they could as well have made valuable experiences from the event and are even better than before. The top match of this week is Cloud9 vs Immortals, where Immortals has a slight advantage, if at all. The other matches of the week all have one clear-cut favourite to win the series. The Team Liquid players have another chance against the FlyQuest team to drag themselves out of the lowlands of the ladder. Moreover Phoenix1 will at last start to climb the ladder but Team SoloMid and Team Dignitas are some pretty dangerous opponents this week.

NA LCS Summer Split 2017 – Week 6 | Day 3

Cloud9 vs. Immortals NA LCS 2017 Summer Split Week 6
Team Logo Cloud9 NA LCS 2017 Cloud9 vs. Immortals Team Logo Immortals NA LCS 2017

Start Time: July 16, 12:00 PM PDT / 03:00 PM EDT / 21:00 CEST

Cloud 9 had some strong performances during the Rift Rivals tournament but they also gave their regional opponents to analyse their adaptions, this could give Immortals an idea as to how Cloud 9 want to play on the 1st week of this half of the summer split. Cloud 9 are sitting just below Immortals on the ladder and will be looking to push forward, can they pull it off? Tune into the series when it goes live on Sunday, July 16th, to find out!

Team Logo Cloud9 NA LCS 2017Cloud 9 – With adaptions having been made over the previous week, the week that was a break for most of the competing teams, Cloud 9 are well warmed up and are ready to once again compete. They’ve had some great performances recently but some of their decision making and positioning has been questionable. If they can patch it they’re going to come into this series with a lot of hope.

Team Logo Immortals NA LCS 2017Immortals – IMT have already put on some strong performances during their 1st week back and they’re looking to push forward to try and contest the top position on the ladder against CLG. They’ve shown slight weakness in their early game, it’s slow and methodical but they’re going to need to adapt it more depending on their opponent at the time. If they can achieve that they’re going to definitely push up the ladder.

Before this week started both teams, Immortals and Cloud 9, were sitting on the exact same individual game score. They were clinging onto 15:10 as their individual game score and this was whilst IMT were sitting with an additional series in their pocket. This points out slight inconsistencies from IMT and also a lack of adaption from Cloud 9. We’ve already seen in the past week that C9 have improved their adaptions, they were changing things up smoothly during the RR tournament and were often able to conquer the EU meta-game, and it would appear that IMT are becoming a more consistent and steady performing team, so who will come out on top?

Prediction: Cloud 9 Victory. Over the past week we’ve seen C9 put on stronger and stronger performances, they’ve been on an incline and their improvements are noticeable. IMT have come into this week and were playing at a slow pace against significantly lower placed teams, this has me worried for them because they should be in a more dominating position. Because of the slower pace start that IMT favour I think C9 will find a few early advantages and will get ahead in the series.

Team SoloMid vs. Team Liquid NA LCS 2017 Summer Split Week 6
Team Logo TSM NA LCS 2017 Team SoloMid vs. Team Liquid Team Logo Liquid NA LCS 2017

Start Time: July 16, 03:00 PM PDT / 06:00 PM EDT / 24:00 CEST

Team Solo Mid still has their eyes on the top position on the ladder but they’re having trouble succeeding as quickly as CLG, the current top team. They’re currently in a very similar situation to IMT, definitely a top performing team but reaching 1st place is a challenge. Team Liquid is contrasting this very heavily, siting at the bottom of the ladder. Have TL improved over the break? Tune into the series on Sunday, July 16th, to find out!

Team Logo TSM NA LCS 2017Team Solo Mid – After some phenomenal performances at the Rift Rivals tournament I’m expecting TSM to be putting on stronger performances during this half of the summer split. They may have been a top performing team in the previous half but they’ll be looking to take that top spot now.

Team Logo Liquid NA LCS 2017Team Liquid – TL are currently sitting at the bottom of the ladder and as the previous half of the summer split was coming to an end it appeared they were only running into more issues. If they’ve made some improvements over the short break I think they’re going to put on some strong performances, but can they do that against TSM?

Prediction:  Team Solo Mid Victory. TSM are in a significantly stronger position on the ladder and they’ve only been improving. Even if TL has made some of their own improvements they would need to be drastic for them to be performing on the same level as TSM at the moment. Because of the skill difference I think TSM could take this series fairly confidently.

Team Dignitas vs. Phoenix1 NA LCS 2017 Summer Split Week 6
Team Logo Dignitas NA LCS 2017 Team Dignitas vs. Phoenix1 Team Logo Phoenix1 NA LCS 2017

Start Time: July 16, 12:00 PM PDT / 03:00 PM EDT / 21:00 CEST

Phoenix 1 has shown a huge amount of improvement recently, even before the week break. They headed into week 5 and put on some exceptional performances, definitely on a level above their current standing. Team Dignitas are currently in 5th place but climbing to a higher standing only requires a few wins, can they make this their 1st step forward? Tune into the series when it goes live on Sunday, July 16th, to find out!

Team Dignitas Logo NA LCS 2017Team Dignitas – DIG are currently tied for 5th place with Team Envyus and they’re going to want to get steps ahead because losing a single series could have them quickly dropping down the ladder. They’ve shown great strategy already and after the week break they could have mastered more of it, but will it be enough to handle the P1 early game?

Team Logo Phoenix1 NA LCS 2017Phoenix 1 – With a phenomenal early game, Phoenix 1 has been on the rise. They’ve made huge improvements in a short space of time and their participation in the Rift Rivals tournament has only helped them more. They’re going to need to play at a fast pace, looking for tempo advantages.

I think both teams hold advantages in this match-up. Phoenix 1 will be in an advantageous position in the earlier stages of the game, they’ve got a more aggressive jungle player who often has huge amounts of pressure being pumped out. Their early game statistics since their roster change are some of the best in the league. Team Dignitas have had a more reliable late game though, their consistency could carry them through the series if they play with more patience during those earlier stages.

Prediction: Phoenix 1 Victory. With how much additional time this roster has had to practice together, along with their new found international experience, I think they’re going to maintain their early game tradition of finding advantages and this will set them up to pressure later on. They’ve made improvements to their macro management and I think that’ll play a huge part in this series.

Echo Fox vs. Team Envy NA LCS 2017 Summer Split Week 6
Team Logo Echo Fox NA LCS 2017 Echo Fox vs. Team Envy Team Logo Envy NA LCS 2017

Start Time: July 16, 03:00 PM PDT / 06:00 PM EDT / 24:00 CEST

We’ve already seen Echo Fox perform this week, they put on some pretty good performances considering they were facing off against a top team in the region. During their 2nd game they had an exceptional early game but they’re still showing weak signs in the middle stages of the game. Team Envyus are yet to perform so the work they’ve put into improving during the break is debatable, will they be able to push ahead of DIG on the ladder? Tune into the series on Sunday, July 16th, to find out!

Team Logo Unicorns of Love EU LCS 2017Echo Fox – FOX have definitely some strong early game aspects but they’re falling apart when it comes to map control. Their early game map control is definitely lacking and when they reach the middle stages of the game they’re falling apart. If they can step up their vision game they’ll be able to translate their early leads into more reliable middle and late game stages.

Team Logo Envy NA LCS 2017Team Envyus – Team Envyus are currently sitting in 5th place on the ladder, tied with Team Dignitas, and have shown promise in their macro management. They’ve still shown some weakness though, they’ll need to watch out in the earlier stages of the game because if they can hold out they’ll be able to create advantages with their own strengths.

Prediction: Team Envyus Victory. Team Envyus are currently sitting in a stronger position on the ladder and have shown much more stable performances during those middle stages of their games. If they can hold out during the earlier stages I think they could find a position to thrive, giving them an advantage in the series.

NA LCS Summer Split 2017 – Week 6 | Day 2

Team SoloMid vs. Phoenix1 NA LCS 2017 Summer Split Week 6
Team Logo TSM NA LCS 2017 Team SoloMid vs. Phoenix1 Team Logo Phoenix1 NA LCS 2017

Start Time: July 15, 12:00 PM PDT / 03:00 PM EDT / 21:00 CEST

Both teams were performing during the Rift Rivals tournament and Team Solo Mid ended up coming out on top of the tournament, proving to the world that North America is currently the stronger of the 2 regions that were performing there. Both teams put on phenomenal performances but P1 were still trailing behind the top performing teams, now we’ll get to see how they can perform when actually placed up against them. Who will come out on top? Tune into the series when it goes live on Saturday, July 15th, to find out!

Team Logo TSM NA LCS 2017Team SoloMid – TSM took the victory at the Rift Rivals tournament and they did so with some extremely convincing victory. They only dropped a single game throughout the entirety of the tournament and their macro management was looking dominant. Their position in team fights still needs a little work but they’re looking like a titan once more.

Team Logo Phoenix1 NA LCS 2017Phoenix1 – Even though P1 had an extremely rough start to the summer split I think we’ve all witnessed the huge improvements they’ve made in the most recent weeks. They put on some outstanding performances during the Rift Rivals tournament and hold some of the strongest early game stats.

Team Solo Mid still looks to be in an advantageous position here.  They’re going to need to hold out in the earlier stages of the game though, Phoenix 1 have shown some hot streaks with their early game performances and they’ve already been able to take down one of the top performing teams in the region because of it. TSM will need to create barriers of vision in the earlier stages of the game, their jungle player has been exceptional recently and I think this series could test his early strengths. P1 will want to find small leads in the earlier stages, as they have done for weeks now, and they’ll need to quickly expand it with relentless map pressure.

Prediction: Team SoloMid Victory. TSM have a fairly strong early game, they’ve cemented this with their performances during the Rift Rivals tournament. Their own jungler has adapted and created some great early strategies that will help the team get through the harder times, their middle and late game is where they’ll thrive against P1 and is the reason I think they’ll come out on top of the series.

Cloud9 vs. Team Envy NA LCS 2017 Summer Split Week 6
Team Logo Cloud9 NA LCS 2017 Cloud9 vs. Team Envy Team Logo Envy NA LCS 2017

Start Time: July 15, 03:00 PM PDT / 06:00 PM EDT / 24:00 CEST

According to some fairly reliable sources Cloud 9 were performing during the Rift Rivals tournament whilst under the weather, yet they were still able to put on significantly strong performances and were able to assist in proving that NA was the stronger region. Team Envyus have had some time to analyse and reflect but would that be enough to push them forward from 5th place? Tune into the series when it goes live on Saturday, July 15th, to find out!

Team Logo Cloud9 NA LCS 2017Cloud 9 – C9 have made some adaptions to their early game, they’ve been putting on stronger early game performances for a while now but it became more obvious during the Rift Rivals tournament. They’ve still got some errors in their play, some odd positioning and awful shot-calling but they’ve got the foundations in place to perform on the highest level.

Team Logo Envy NA LCS 2017Team Envyus – NV are currently in 5th place, tied with Team Dignitas, but they’re not far from pushing up the ladder. They’ve shown great potential during the 1st half of the summer split and after the week break they could have a few surprises to put on show. They’re going to need to step up in terms of their consistency though; having issues between games will cause them to fail if they can’t improve it.

Prediction: Cloud 9 Victory. I think Cloud 9 are in a more stable position, they’ve been able to show their strengths and adaptions over the break and have made improvements that could push them up the ladder. Their performances weren’t perfect and I expect NV to put up a good fight, but with how quickly C9 have been improving I think they’ll come out on top of this series.

Counter Logic Gaming vs. Team Dignitas NA LCS 2017 Summer Split Week 6
Team Logo CLG NA LCS 2017 Counter Logic Gaming vs. Team Dignitas Team Logo Dignitas NA LCS 2017

Start Time: July 15, 12:00 PM PDT / 03:00 PM EDT / 21:00 CEST

Counter Logic Gaming have been one of the most adaptive teams in the region and with them being able to observe the Rift Rivals tournament I think they’re going to come into this half of the summer split with some changes in mind. Their late game has been very precise but Dig has shown a lot of potential, potential that could have grown over the short break. Who will come out on top? Tune into the series when it goes live on Saturday, July 15th, to find out!

Team Logo CLG NA LCS 2017Counter Logic Gaming – CLG are currently sitting at the top of the NA LCS ladder and they’re going so with some definite favours, but they’ve also taken a significant amount of individual game losses on their climb. This shows that their consistency has taken a hit but their adaption are coving for it, if DIG can adapt as quickly then CLG could be in trouble.

Team Dignitas Logo NA LCS 2017Team Dignitas – Sitting in 5th place on the ladder, DIG are looking to push forward and contest the higher positions. As we’re heading into the second half of the summer split it’s definitely a possibility but DIG have some serious challenges to overcome. They’re barely holding above a 50% winrate, if they can perform more consistently they’re going to find themselves stuck.

Counter Logic Gaming look to be at an advantage here, their 1st half of the summer split was much stronger than that of Team Dignitas and even though CLG have encountered some consistency issues the problem on Team Dignitas are much more obvious. CLG have a more dominant late game, their strategies have carried them from game to game and their early control is difficult to overcome. DIG will need to set up some aggressive lines of vision and will need their jungle player to do some serious early work to help the lanes, if they can achieve this they’ll set up the middle stages of the game. CLG should look to create mid-centric pressure, they’re often split pushing and this can give them a strong enough player to command a 1-3-1 strategy; giving their middle and late stages of the game much more hope.

Prediction: Counter Logic Gaming Victory. CLG have already proven to be the stronger of the two performing teams here, they’ve shown much more ability to adapt and their strategies are proving to be profound. DIG has a lot of catching up to do and I don’t think a single week would have been enough time. Because of the advantages CLG have already shown I think they’ll find a way to come out on top of the series.

Team Liquid vs. FlyQuest NA LCS 2017 Summer Split Week 6
Team Logo Liquid NA LCS 2017 Team Liquid vs. FlyQuest FlyQuest NA LCS 2017 - Logo

Start Time: July 15, 03:00 PM PDT / 06:00 PM EDT / 24:00 CEST

Team Liquid have fallen to the bottom of the ladder and a lot of their issues are stemming from their jungle and bottom lane, if they’re not having a strong lane phase then they’re likely to fall. They’re going to need to pick up some early aggression and apply focus to the bottom lane. FlyQuest have shown some strength in their bottom lane but is their jungle player up to the challenge, contesting the map vs the jungle player of TL could prove challenging. Who will come out on top? Tune into the series when it goes live on Saturday, July 15th, to find out1

Team Logo Liquid NA LCS 2017Team Liquid – TL seem to only succeed when their bottom lane can get a hold of a lead, I think they’re going to need to play into this. They’ll need their middle lane to focus on safety, farming and wave-clear. Their top lane will need to build for the composition, something hefty for the front line. Their jungle player is going to need to pick a bruise that can thrive in the earlier stages to assist the lane and then the bottom lane can get to work. It’s challenging but they’ve shown potential.

FlyQuest NA LCS 2017 - LogoFlyQuest – FLY has taken a position above TL and are currently tied with Phoenix 1. They’ve shown growth in recent weeks and their improvements are noticeable, with the additional week break I expect them to come into this half of the summer split with more reliable strategies but pulling them off against thriving teams could be challenging, this will be a great test run for them.

Prediction: FlyQuest Victory. After the short break I think FlyQuest are going to have achieved more improvements to their gameplay, they had a lot of minor problems that were holding them back and TL have only succeeded off of the back of their bottom lane, and FLY will know this and counter it. Because of this I think FLY has good chances at finding a way on top of the series.

NA LCS Summer Split 2017 – Week 6 | Day 1

Counter Logic Gaming vs. FlyQuest NA LCS 2017 Summer Split Week 6
Team Logo CLG NA LCS 2017 CounterC Logic Gaming vs. FlyQuest FlyQuest NA LCS 2017 - Logo

Start Time: July 14, 03:00 PM PDT / 06:00 PM EDT / 24:00 CEST (the next day)

Counter Logic Gaming have had a nice weeks break and they’ve been able to witness many great games as the Rift Rivals tournament was being won by their region, FlyQuest were able to watch those same games but did they pick up on the same strengths? CLG is currently the top performing team in the region, arguably, but FlyQuest have had a week to polish up. Can CLG hold onto their top position? Tune into the series on Friday, July 14th, to find out!

Team Logo CLG NA LCS 2017Counter Logic Gaming – CLG have shown that they have a phenomenal ability to adapt through a series and through an individual game, they’ve been able to create dominant and difficult compositions but they’ve still been making some small mistakes. After the break they could have patched these up, this is an opportunity to prove it.

FlyQuest NA LCS 2017 - LogoFlyQuest – FLY have a lot to prove, they were a strong performing team during the spring split until the break half way through, they’re going to need to contrast this in the summer split as they’ve already had a very difficult first half. They’re going to need to make huge improvements if they want to contest the coming weeks.

Counter Logic Gaming look to be in an advantageous position here, they’ve had a significantly stronger first half to the summer split and have shown strengths that have proven extremely difficult to overcome. Even against the other top teams in the region the adaptions and compositions of CLG have been tough, how well will a team at the bottom of the ladder do? FLY will need to pick a jungler that can pump out some early aggression; they’ll need to apply some early pressure to the top side of the map to dampen any split pushing CLG is planning. This will need to be achieved whilst also holding some form of objective control, definitely a challenge for FLY.

Prediction: Counter Logic Gaming Victory. CLG are already in a stronger and much more stable position on the ladder, they still have to fight for their top position though. They were previously a top performing team and I believe the short break will only help them, of course it could help FLY too but it’s unlikely that FLY could make the significant improvements in such a short space of time. This leads me to believe CLG will use their already proven strength to find a way on top of the series.

Immortals vs. Echo Fox NA LCS 2017 Summer Split Week 6
Team Logo Immortals NA LCS 2017 Immortals vs. Echo Fox Team Logo Echo Fox NA LCS 2017

Start Time: July 14, 06:00 PM PDT / 09:00 PM EDT / 03:00 CEST (the next day)

Immortals are in the running for 2nd place on the NA LCS ladder, they’re sitting close to Team Solo Mid who has just had a streak of phenomenal performances during the Rift Rivals tournament. IMT have taken down teams are the top of the ladder, how hard can a lower placed team be? FOX have been steadily making changes but their early game is still having issues, after the week break could they have improved it? Tune into the series on Friday, July 14th, to find out!

Team Logo Immortals NA LCS 2017Immortals – IMT have been having strong performances so far in the first half of the NA LCS, after a short break I expect them to come into this half of the split with some minor improvements made. They’ve had a week of analysis to be done of some of the best performing or most quickly improving teams in the region and I think they’d have picked up some tricks.

Team Logo Unicorns of Love EU LCS 2017Echo Fox – FOX are sitting in 7t place, which is relatively safe. They could fall into issues though, a single series loss could have them quickly dropping into those bottom positions. They have shown weakness in the earlier stages of the game and if they don’t pick it up they’re only going to run into more trouble.

Immortals look to be at an advantage here, their first half to the summer split had countless more reliable and stronger performances, they’ve been able to identify and resolve their own issues and have taken a top position on the ladder for good reason. Echo Fox haven’t been able to identify or improve their earlier weaknesses but after the short break they could have made big improvements. If FOX have made changes to their early game strategy they could propel their later strengths forward, giving them better odds in those later stage team fights.

Prediction: Immortals Victory. IMT have already taken a much stronger position on the ladder, they’ve had stronger performances for the first half of the split and after the weeks break I think they’re going to be refreshed. FOX had visible weaknesses when we reached the break and if they’ve not improved them I think IMT could take a pretty confident victory here.
