With the completion of both quarterfinal matches, we now know the remaining 2 semifinalists that will join Astralis and Fnatic in the semifinals. Of course, I am referring to Team Liquid and FaZe Clan which pulled out quite a feat defeating Cloud9 in a 42-round thriller on Inferno. Team Liquid had no easy task either – they defeated NiP (even though I highly doubted this will happen after wonderful lower bracket matches by NiP) 2-1 and secured their place in the semis. Now they are focusing on Fnatic… and we’re turning our eyes towards the first matchup for today! So, without any further adue let’s bring forth Astralis vs FaZe Clan match prediction so you know what you’re dealing with today!

Astralis vs FaZe

Astralis is taking no prisoners…
Astralis had a particularly tough match against Renegades in which they managed to come out victorious with a 16-13 score. In the next round, they went against SK Gaming in what seemed to be a majestic 2nd map where they had to win a total of 22 rounds in order to complete the 2nd round series with a 2-0 final score. In the group stage finals, they were up against Team Liquid which unsurprisingly took the first round but ended up on the back end of a blowout with 16-5 round scores on both Nuke and Overpass. So, if we take all that into account, it’s safe to say Astralis is doing great on IEM Katowice 2018 and are not taking any prisoners at the moment!
FaZe Clan are back after a tough loss
Today, in the semifinals, they are going up against FaZe Clan which have had a rough loss against Fnatic in the group stage finals. It seems as though it just was not a good day for NiKo and the crew which seemed absent from the start, resulting in the match being finished in a quick 2-0 fashion. However, FaZe Clan are known for not being phased by poor performance. As a matter of fact, they seem to be the best learners from their own mistakes which could be crucial for their matchup against Astralis. In fact, most eSports bookmakers are placing them as the favorites with pretty decent odds ranging from 1.4 all the way to 1.8 in some places.

Can NiKo pull the strings for his team’s victory?
Let’s face it guys – NiKo was pulling all the strings in their Group Stage Finals match against Fnatic. The rest of his teammates (except perhaps GuardiaN who was doing OK in both matches) were not up for the contest, especially olofmeister and karrigan which seemed uninterested in the whole ordeal. Their form was slowly improving against Cloud 9 so there’s no need to worry about them. With that being said, if NiKo can play at the same level as he played during the last 2 matches… and if olofmeister and karrigan step it up a bit; we could see FaZe Clan cruising to victory against their sworn rivals Astralis!
