Preview and Predictions

EU Grand Finals: Origen - EU LCS Team Logo Origen vs. Logo of LCS EU Team Fnatic Fnatic

Head to head record in regular Summer Split: Origen 0 : 2 Fnatic
(August 23rd, Start Time: 08:00 AM PDT/ 11:00 AM EDT/ 05:00 PM CEST)

Fnatic vs Origen will be a match to see indeed, as Origens founding Mid-laner Enrique “xPeke” Cedeño Martínez faces against his old team and colleague Martin “Rekkles” Larsson, Fnatics Marksman and Bora “YellOwStaR” Kim, his bottom lane support.

Logo of LCS EU Team FnaticFNC are currently contenders to hold a 24-0 undefeated season title, yet to be achieved by any team across all regions. After xPeke’s absence a lot of fans thought Fnatic would be in a difficult situation. But after YellOwStaR took the lead and a few roster changes were made the team had an amazing showcase at the beginning of the season and continued to show enormous strength.

Origen - LCS Team LogoOG with superstar Mid-laner xPeke founding a new team they started off in a difficult situation. It isn’t easy getting into the LCS from scratch but they managed to show an amazing amount of teamwork and strength during the Challenger Series with a score of 9-1. But what more could you expect from the ex-Fnatic powerhouse team work of xPeke and Top-laner Paul “SoaZ” Boyer.

These particular teams both show great strength in their duo lanes with Rekkles and YellOwStaR having an undefeated record this season and an extremely respectable combined KDA of 13.5 whilst going against the highest KDA on Origen. Jesper “Niels” Svenningsen, Origen’s Marksman, holds an 8.5 KDA whilst his support Alfonso “Mithy” Aguirre only holds a 4.0 KDA. That’s a combined KDA of 6.25, which is less than half of their opponents. Origen are going to have to look to their Mid and Top laner stars to combine efforts during team fights to balance this out, because that is how Origen excel.

The mid lane match-up between these 2 teams will be something to keep an eye on also, with xPeke being well known across regions for his phenomenal play and roaming to help his colleagues lanes. Fabian “Febiven” Diepstraten however is not a player you want to overlook! Holding better statistics than his opponent across the board! For this match to go in Origen’s favour xPeke is going to be needed on a champion with the potential to roam.

Prediction: With an 18-0 record and a 2-0 record against Origen, Fnatic are looking like an undefeatable team. However there have been close calls such as the Week 7 Day 2 game where Origen was in complete control holding a 7k gold lead at 27minutes only to lose due to a few poor plays. 29 minutes into the game they pick a team fight which they lose miserably, closing the gold gap by 30mins. If they manage to not make these mistakes they might just take a game or even the series off of Fnatic.

If the Origen from week 4 show up then we might be looking at a 3-0 victory for Fnatic. During the Week 4 Day 1 match between Origen and Fnatic, Origen managed to give up 4 kills by 6minutes into the game; having given away a 2k lead which was held steadily by Fnatic for the next 20mins until they eventually killed Baron Nashor at 25mins into the game snowballing this into a 6-19 Kill score lead and a 41min Victory.

With Fnatic currently being undefeated and showing such phenomenal patience and strength I’ll be predicting their victory, however it won’t come easy. Origen will be looking to their ‘Gangster squad’ SoaZ and xPeke to create enough pressure to knock Fnatic to their knees. 3-1 (Fnatic Victory)
