I like to think there’s a difference between “it didn’t work” and “it doesn’t work”. In the process of inventing da Vinci’s Flying machine, I’m sure there were more than a few inventor-sidekicks who plummeted to a rude thud. Sometimes you just have to break a few skulls to make an omelette – or something like that.
If you read this space last week and then watched LCS over Week 1, I think you’re aware that “it didn’t work”. As is the risk of betting on the last day of the LCS week when there are only four North American teams playing; each loss is more significant due to fewer matches. And unfortunately on the last day of Week 1 LCS, 3 of 4 match favourites lost – reducing the betting total from $200 to $66.09.

Well That’s Awkward
I could continue the system from where it is… but it makes for a slow start. And that’s the thing about bigger numbers – they’re much more exciting. Instead I’ll raise my hand and accept the embarrassment but this article series is going to reflect what I’m doing in my personal LCS betting experience: having a brief moment of cursing then starting from the start!
Now may be a good time to remind you to gamble responsibly. I assume that if you’re reading this then you are either an adult or you don’t have a disposable income, but even so – know your own limits. I’m comfortable and confident knowing that I made money using the same system last split – give me a chance and I’ll prove it to you.

Bets for LCS Summer Split 2017 – Week 2
The betting odds at the time of posting for week’s two games are as they are seen below. Europe’s Week 2 once again has an extended amount of games to make up for fewer usual games throughout the season, so Betting Group 3 has the security this week of more game to minimise risk if things turn sour. Betting Group 1
Splitting the bets across favourites in the matches played on Europe Day 1 and Day 2, and North America Day 1
- Misfits paying 1.36
- G2 Esports paying 1.53
- Splyce paying 1.57
- Unicorns of Love paying 1.083
- Cloud 9 paying 1.57
- Immortals paying 1.30
The following formula is used to determine what stake to place against each bet if we want each winning bet to return an equal amount (spreading the risk and the potential gain). These calculations are based on the assumption of having your current total betting amount at $200 (or equivalent) but can be calculated with any starting value.
Stake Potential = Starting Investment / ((1/Odds of Bet 1) + (1/Odds of Bet 2) + (1/Odds of Bet 3) + (1/Odds of Bet 4) + (1/Odds of Bet 5) + (1/Odds of Bet 6))
Stake Potential = 200 / ((1/1.36) + (1/1.53) + (1/1.57) + (1/1.083) + (1/1.57) + (1/1.30))
Stake Potential = 45.92
The Stake Potential gives us the value that each bet returns upon a win. To determine the stake, simply divide the Stake Potential by the Bet Odds.
Stake = Stake Potential / Bet Odds
Stake = 45.92 / 1.36 (Misfits)
The following is the stake for each match in Betting Group 1 of LCS Summer Split Week 1
- Misfits’ stake 33.76
- G2 Esports’ stake 30.01
- Splyce’s stake 29.25
- Unicorns of Love’s stake 42.40
- Cloud 9’s stake 29.25
- Immortals’ stake 35.32
