EU LCS Week 4 – Preview and Predictions

Week 4 | Day 1 – Match #1: Elements LCS EU Team Logo  Elements vs. Vitality - LCS EU Team Logo Team Vitality

Start Time: February 04, 09:00 AM PST/ 12:00 PM EST/ 18:00 CET

Logo of LCS EU Season 6 Spring Split Team VitalityTeam Vitality: Currently holding the reigns over most teams that are competing this split, VIT have only taken a loss to the current top team H2k and could be looking at one of the most positive splits we’ve seen for a while. Still making improvements and perfecting their strategy this team is looking to become a juggernaut and take this split quick and in destructive fashion.

Logo of LCS EU Season 6 Spring Split Team ElementsElements: Holding a 3:1 score going into Week 3 Elements held their heads high and was confident they could proceed on their climb to the top but they hit some trouble and ended up falling to both of their opponents. With a 3:3 score they’re heading into Week 4 Day 1 with an extremely hard match-up but they might just be able to overcome VIT and claim their 4th victory.

Team Vitality are at a clear advantage coming into this game, they lost to H2k but manage to pick up their win at the end of Week 3 whereas Elements couldn’t take a single victory and although the skill difference between their opponents is vast Elements should have been able to claw a victory against at least 1 team that VIT has already taken down.

Elements are going to need to step up and have made improvements over the last week to really deny Team Vitality during their early game because when Vitality get rolling they claw away every advantage that Elements could possibly dream of taking. If Elements manage to get an early line of vision across the river to deny pressure from Team Vitality then they might be able to secure some early objectives through rotations and create a small advantage that they can use to snowball the game and take the win.

Team Vitality are going to want to stick to their routine, great early vision with map pressure along with creating fights that they know they can take. Minimizing risk should ensure that they’re able to create a lead and pressure the game in their usual fashion. If they fall behind early they’re going to want to set their vision line back and create a defensive wall with drafted wave clear. However I’m expecting them to pick comfortable champions.

Prediction: Team Vitality Victory. Elements have been in a bit of a slump, they’ve had difficult taking wins lately and it’s only going to become more difficult with Team Vitality as their opponent. Team Vitality is at quite an advantage here and I expect them to create a lead in the mid game and run away with the win.

Week 4 | Day 1 – Match #2: Giants - LCS EU Team Logo Giants vs. Fnatic - LCS EU Team Logo Fnatic

Start Time: February 04, 10:00 AM PST/ 01:00 PM EST/ 19:00 CET

Giants are yet to take a victory here and they’re in a really tough position, their team isn’t working in complete formation like most of the other teams and they’re looking like they can barely compete, even when against the weaker teams. Fnatic are currently at a 3:3 score and are slowly improving, taking some strong wins but also losing drastically, working on their consistency is a key thing and they’re slowly improving it.

Prediction: Fnatic Victory. With Giants being unable to contest even the most likely of victories the likes of them taking down Fnatic seems small and Fnatic have been improving lately which really diminishes Giants chances.

Week 4 | Day 1 – Match #3: G2 Esports LCS EU Team Logo  G2 eSports vs. Origen - LCS EU Team Logo Origen

Start Time: February 04, 11:00 AM PST/ 02:00 PM EST/ 20:00 CET

Both of these competing teams managed to take 2 victories during week 3 and have made improvements, less so for G2 as they’re sitting right by the top of the ladder with H2k. Origen still need to work on their early game but have started to focus more on adapting to the current meta which is helping them a lot. This looks to be a tough match for Origen, can they overcome the formidable 5:1 G2?

Logo of LCS EU Season 6 Spring Split Team G2 EsportsG2 Esports: Immaculate performances have led G2 to sitting at the top of the ladder with H2k and they’re not looking to stop just yet. Their performances are getting stronger and their dominations are getting clearer as this underestimated team have barrelled their way through Season 6 so far.

Logo of LCS EU Season 6 Spring Split Team OrigenOrigen: A rough start to the season had Origen on the back foot but they’ve made huge improvements lately and are getting back to their old form from the Season 5 World Championship. If they keep on making improvements like they have done recently then we can expect some exceptional games from this team but just how well will they fair against a team as strong as G2?

G2 look to be at a clear advantage because they’re sitting with just 1 loss to a current top team whereas Origen are 3:3 and fell to some horrible losses. However taking into account the improvements Origen have made lately is important, their top lane might not seem as dominating as it was previously but with the resources being shared to their carries in the middle and bottom lane Origen have been able to pull out some victories that could be considered unexpected.

Origen is going to want to watch out for the early aggression of G2 because when they get ahead they turn on the aggression and are relentless at pushing an advantage. G2 are going to want to watch out for Origen’s unique drafting and are going to want to deny Kalista from Zven along with Kindred.

If Origen are able to create a wall of vision to slow down the aggressive advances of G2 then they should be able to push the game out and stall until their champions peak, possibilities of Ryze in the top lane means Origen are going to want to get to those later stages. Along with the wall of vision they’re going to need to keep wave clear in mind and are going to want a control mage in the middle lane.

G2 will probably stick with picks they’ve shown us before such as Corki mid-lane and Braum as support, sticking with comfortable champions would be a smart move as it reduces the risks of minor mechanical mistakes that could give small advantages to Origen.

Prediction: G2 Esports Victory. Origen are strong and have made massive improvements recently but G2 Esports haven’t run into much trouble yet in terms of competition and although Origen stand a good chance I think G2 are going to take a mid-game lead that Origen will have trouble recuperating from.

Week 4 | Day 1 – Match #4: Rroccat - LCS EU Team Logo Roccat vs. Unicorns of Love - LCS EU Team Logo Unicorns of Love

Start Time: February 04, 12:00 PM PST/ 03:00 PM EST/ 21:00 CET

Roccat are in a bit of a bind sitting with a 1:5 score and right near the bottom of the ladder whilst Unicorns of Love sit comfortably on a 4:2 score. Unicorns of Love will be using a different jungle once again though and that could stir some trouble but will it be enough for Roccat to capitalise on? Roccat have also picked up a really experienced Marksman to assist them and he might bring some trouble to UoL.

Prediction: Unicorns of Love Victory. They’re sitting comfortably with their score and have shown that they can adapt nicely to changes to their jungle so I don’t think the current change is going to affect how well they have been performing. Unless their new jungler manages to do some disastrous things I think UoL will take a clear win here.

Week 4 | Day 1 – Match #5: H2K Gaming LCS EU Team Logo  H2K vs. Splyce - LCS EU Team Logo Splyce

Start Time: February 04, 01:00 PM PST/ 04:00 PM EST/ 22:00 CET

H2k currently sit at the top of the ladder with G2 with a 5:1 score, they’ll still be using Selfie in the mid lane and although he didn’t have the best performances to show last week when he was covering before he managed to do his job, a few of the things he did really brought the H2k opponents to their knees and I expect him to be even more comfortable during Week 4. Splyce have had trouble against the teams at the top of the ladder but have performed well against those in the middle and bottom of the ladder, just how well can they perform against H2k?

Prediction: H2k Victory. Splyce have shown that they’re not prepared or ready to take on the top teams of the region and H2k are currently right at the top. It’ll be hard for Splyce and would be unexpected for them to take the win as H2k are at such a huge advantage in terms of performances.

Predictions – EU LCS Week 4 – Day 2

With a perfect 5/5 for prediction for day 1 we’ll be looking to achieve something similar during day 2! For day 2 we’ll be focusing on Elements vs. H2k shortly followed by Unicorns of Love vs. Team Vitality. Why these matches? I think in terms of skill matches for the day these teams will give us the closest match-ups and most exciting games. H2k are still using Selfie in the mid lane and Unicorns of Love still have Rudy lurking in the jungle. Don’t forget to tune into the stream to cheer for your favourite team!

Week 4 | Day 2 – Match #1: G2 Esports LCS EU Team Logo  G2 eSports vs. Splyce - LCS EU Team Logo Splyce

Start Time: February 05, 09:00 AM PST/ 12:00 PM EST/ 18:00 CET

G2 Esports have been relentlessly pursuing the top of the ladder and have been taking down every team to get there, Splyce are in for a rough time but if they can propel their mid laner into a massive lead like when they went up against Giants or Roccat then they might be able to give G2 Esports a bit of hell. G2 Esports are at a massive advantage though and have proven to be a tough team to crack even for the current strongest performing teams.

Prediction: G2 Esports Victory. They’re ahead massively in terms of adapting to the meta, their macro management and global map pressure is formidable and will cause such an issue for Splyce that I think the game could end by 25mins.

Week 4 | Day 2 – Match #2: Elements LCS EU Team Logo  Elements vs. H2K Gaming LCS EU Team Logo  H2K

Start Time: February 05, 10:00 AM PST/ 01:00 PM EST/ 19:00 CET

Elements are having a tough time right now, being hit by 3 losses in a row after showing that they can be a strong team is rough. They’re going to have to claw their way back up and show the region that they’re not a team to be messed with but right now they’ve got a few things to work on. H2k are looking like the strongest team in the region at the moment and even when they’re not chasing team fights they’re building huge gold advantages, how will Elements get a handle on them?

Logo of LCS EU Season 6 Spring Split Team ElementsElements: After suffering from 3 losses in a row the Elements roster must be feeling a little down but they have no time to waste! They’re going to need to pick apart the compositions and drafting of H2k so they can get a few pro-active picks along with working around the strategy of H2k. It’s going to be tough but if they put it the work it might just come out in their favour.

Logo of LCS EU Season 6 Spring Split Team H2K Gaming H2k: Proving to the region that kills are not the only way to gain a 10k gold lead, in Week 4 Day 1 they managed to amass a huge gold lead by just rotating around the map and avoiding giving the opportunity to their opponents for fighting but when trouble arose they took whatever they could. It was strategically genius and they’ve shown that they’ve got a lot of tricks up their sleeve, what else could they possibly be hiding?

H2k are at a clear advantage here, in with their substitute mid laner. Elements are going to need to come up with a way to get H2k off of comfortable champs, it will leave a lot of the current strong champions available but they should look to ban champions such as Corki, Lucian and Graves. Being first pick means they can secure the champion they deem the strongest at the time and could even use it to deny a pick going to H2k, which is extremely important. H2k are going to want to draft a similar composition to what they used on Week 4 Day 1, with double marksman and a peeling support for utility means they’re able to relentlessly push and be fairly safe at the same time.

Elements are going to want to follow the rotations of H2k as well as they can, drafting plenty of wave clear and avoiding any mistakes in the earlier stages of the game. Viktor in the mid lane seems likely for them and they might decide to pick the Lucian away from the H2k Marksman whilst banning Corki to stir the pot a little. This seems like the most reliable way at taking away a few of the stronger champions that H2k have but they’ll have to be prepared for whatever H2k decide to bring out afterwards.

Focusing heavily on the likes of F0rgiven will slow him down but he’s difficult to track and stick to, he’s often on his own shoving a lane but Elements can’t really afford to pick an assassin in the middle lane so maybe we’ll see a Quinn in the jungle or top lane to help shut down the split pushing possibilities of H2k.

Prediction: H2k Victory. They’ve got a lot of versatility, even if their most comfortable champions are taken away they’re able to quickly adapt and build a new composition from scratch which is a scary feat. Elements are on a loss streak and this match is going to put a lot of pressure on them to perform, I think the drafting phase could lean towards Elements favour but H2k will win the game with their macro management.

Week 4 | Day 2 – Match #3: Unicorns of Love - LCS EU Team Logo Unicorns of Love vs. Vitality - LCS EU Team Logo Team Vitality

Start Time: February 05, 11:00 AM PST/ 02:00 PM EST/ 20:00 CET

The Unicorns have had to adapt quickly to their new jungler and after their performance in Day 1, although they won, really wasn’t that strong. Their new jungler is good, no doubt, but he lacks the global pressure and early game aggression that comes from Diamondprox and even his opponent this game, Shook. Team Vitality is on the up and up, climbing their way back up the ladder whilst making improvements. If they continue on this track they’re going to be a top contender for the Spring Playoffs in my opinion.

Logo of LCS EU Season 6 Spring Split Team Unicorns of LoveUnicorns of Love: They may have won their game during Week 4 Day 1 but it played out extremely slowly due to a significantly less aggressive jungler. They’re going to want to switch things up against Team Vitality as they’re going to get outclassed when it comes to rotations and map movements. They’re going to need to turn on the early aggression but can they do it with this new jungler?

Logo of LCS EU Season 6 Spring Split Team VitalityTeam Vitality: The strategy they pulled out against Elements was phenomenal, Lucian top? Who would have guessed! But it worked. Their entire strategy was about playing against their opponents strengths and completely avoiding their best assets. Having multiple marksmen in multiple lanes made it a huge challenge for their opponents and I expect to see something similar.

Team Vitality are at an advantage here but it’s not by too much, sure they’re on an equal score to the Unicorns of Love but with the massive amount of improvements they’ve made and with such diverse strategies I think the Unicorns are going to have a rough time keeping up, especially if their fresh jungler has trouble adapting.

The Unicorns are going to want to get an aggressive early game jungle or a jungler that can deny the carries of VIT. Doing so will open up their options, either group and fight or anti-splitpush, against Team Vitality and work on picking off kills to gain a lead.

Team Vitality are going to want to try and stick with something comfortable, I think they win the skill match-up and can only be outclassed with aggressive plays and surprising map movements from UoL but this can all be cleared up of Team Vitality manage to get an early line of vision across the river. Gaining vision across the entrances of the jungles will help them keep an eye on the jungler of UoL to react accordingly to where they see him.

Prediction: Team Vitality Victory. I think with Unicorns of Love running a new jungler at the moment they’re at a slightly bigger disadvantage than what we can see, building up communication with a new player can be difficult along with them lacking the synergy with laners that help team fighting and aggressive early moves. I expect Team Vitality to win this game by forcing UoL all over the map and by out rotating them until a large enough gold lead is formed for them to roll to victory.

Week 4 | Day 2 – Match #4: Origen - LCS EU Team Logo Origen vs. Giants - LCS EU Team Logo Giants

Start Time: February 05, 12:00 PM PST/ 03:00 PM EST/ 21:00 CET

Giants are on their way to making a new LCS record and it’s certainly not one that they’d like to achieve. Sitting 0:7 is difficult but their performances have been severely lacking. Origen has been a bit shaky lately too but at least they’re being pro-active and making whatever moves open up to them. It’s going to be tough for Giants and this is Origens chance to really show what they’ve got.

Prediction: Origen Victory. They’re clearly the stronger team here and even though they’ve been having a harder time themselves they’ve also been slowly making the improvements needed to go against the stronger teams in the region. Those same improvements will help them pressure Giants in the earlier stages of the game and push for a victory before 30mins.

Week 4 | Day 2 – Match #5: Rroccat - LCS EU Team Logo Roccat vs. Fnatic - LCS EU Team Logo Fnatic

Start Time: February 05, 01:00 PM PST/ 04:00 PM EST/ 22:00 CET

Roccat are sitting just above the bottom which isn’t a pretty place to be. This is a chance for them to show the region that they’re ready to take a few more wins. Fnatic haven’t had the strongest of performances and in comparison to their Summer 2015 performances they’re a bit lacking but once the communication issues get worked out I expect to see a lot more from this team, all they need to do is work together more consistently and have more confidence in each other as a team.

Prediction: Fnatic Victory. Roccat are in a tough enough position and the Korean jungler and Top laner that Fnatic have are going to give Roccat a really hard time. I expect to see a lot of kills occurring in the earlier stages of the game along with quite a few power-picks showing up in the drafting phase. Fnatic should be able to take an early lead and stroll through the game with it.
