Out of the 6 predictions made last week I got exactly 50% of them correct which seems pretty usual but as the teams advance through the split we gain more information to educate ourselves and provide more accurate predictions. During Week 3 of the EU LCS we’ll be watching some extremely hyped up games. G2 Esports vs. Fnatic and H2k vs Team Vitality are my favourites for day 1 and Unicorns of Love vs. G2 Esports on day 2, however the UoL Jungler will be MIA as he’s facing some visa issues and UoL will be using a substitute jungler for a while. Can UoL overcome this difficult time and will which of the 3 top teams will come out on top? Tune in to the live stream to find out!

EU LCS Week 3 | Day 1:
Welcome to Week 3 of the EU LCS! On day 1 we’ll be choosing 2 focus matches, with the remaining 3 being quickly concluded, which are G2 Esports vs. Fnatic and H2k vs. Team Vitality! Why these two? Well I think they’re going to be the most exciting and contain 4 of the current best teams in the region! We’ll be looking to beat our prediction rate from the EU LCS last week which was exactly 50% but we can do better! Due to visa issues across Europe multiple things have changed for this week, Ryu from H2k will have to sit out this week with Selfie sitting in for him, Diamondprox from Unicorns of Love will be replaced by Djoko for the time being and the Giants jungler has been permanently replaced with Betongjocke. Last but not least Roccat have to find a replacement for Edward this week and are likely to use nRated. Make sure you stay tuned for the games as I’m sure they’ll all be amazing!
Week 3 | Day 1 – Match #1: Giants vs. Splyce
Start Time: January 28, 09:00 AM PST/ 12:00 PM EST/ 18:00 CET
Both of these teams are currently sitting at the bottom of the ladder but Giants are in an even worse position because they’re yet to win a game! But this could be their big break. With a fresh face in their jungle they might be able to pick up their game and finally make enough of an impact to take their first victory of the season. Can Splyce prevent this and take their second game of the split or will they call to the Giants?
Prediction: Giants Victory. I’ll be rooting for the underdog here. Both teams have had poor performances but Splyce’s have been better in comparison however with a change in the jungle I think the Giants are going to pick up the slack and finally make an impact for their first victory. Splyce could easily take it but I expect improvement from the Giants.
Week 3 | Day 1 – Match #2: Origen vs. Roccat
Start Time: January 28, 10:00 AM PST/ 01:00 PM EST/ 19:00 CET
Both teams currently sit near the bottom of the ladder with a 1:3 score but who’s had the better performances? It’s hard to really pin down who’s been performing better because neither team has really had a chance to shine. Roccat took their victory against Team Vitality and Roccat took theirs from the Unicorns of Love, which once against doesn’t help us decide whose better however Roccat will be using a substitute and Origen hold better KDAs and gold per minute across most of their team.
Prediction: Origen Victory. With the sudden replacement of the Roccat support and with Origen holding higher average gold and KDA I think they’ll take the early game and run with it to victory. It’s hard to say but the statistics side with this.
Week 3 | Day 1 – Match #3: G2 eSports vs. Fnatic
Start Time: January 28, 11:00 AM PST/ 02:00 PM EST/ 20:00 CET
G2 are currently sitting by the top of the ladder with only a single loss under their belt but Fnatic are not far behind them with a 2-2 score. If Fnatic have pulled upon their issues and anchored down on improvements they could easily contest this and even work their way to the top but can they really bring down the G2 squad?
G2 Esports: Currently sitting with a 3:1 score by the top of the ladder they need to work through a few more victories to claim the very top and be seated as the top European team. To do this they need to take their victories soon but they could run into trouble with teams like Fnatic who have seasons of experience to work with.
Fnatic: A 2:2 score doesn’t set them too far apart from G2 and they’ve got the necessary abilities to push their limits and take this victory. They’re equipped with similar KDA and gold per minute across most of their team members as G2 but unless they can utilize it they’ll be stuck in trouble.
G2 Esports are at an advantage with a victory over Fnatic but I think Fnatic could easily contest this game, they’re holding similar stats to their opponents with an extra loss and that’s difficult to achieve. If Fnatic can utilize their gold in the earlier stages of the game on champions that peak without needing to reach the later stages of the game then they should be able to achieve an upper hand and force G2 into a downward spiral. It won’t come easy and G2 could come in as they usually do, work their gold lead and gain and edge over their opponents and they often translate that into victory but I don’t expect it to come easy.
I expect this game to take quite long, both teams are going to counter each other in the earlier stages of the game and it’s going to come down to shot-calling in the later stages, who can take Baron and who will throw? I think that Fnatic with widespread experience have better shot-calling and if they really do make it to the late game then they have an upper hand, it’ll be trouble for G2 so they’re going to want to deep ward early and gain lane advantages so I’ll be looking for lane swapping early and creep denial to the top laners. It’ll be tough for both teams so make sure you watch this game if you only have time for one!
Prediction: Fnatic Victory. The early game will likely go to G2 Esports but I think Fnatic can draw the game out and work their way to victory through late game macro management and shot-calling. I expect there to be multiple barons and the game to draw out quite long so keep your popcorn at the ready!
Week 3 | Day 1 – Match #4: Unicorns of Love vs. Elements
Start Time: January 28, 12:00 PM PST/ 03:00 PM EST/ 21:00 CET
Both teams sit on a 3:1 score but Elements hold better KDA / gold across the board which certainly gives them advantage, not only that but Unicorns of Love have had to replace their jungler for the week as Diamondprox is having visa issues and is currently unable to play in the LCS. With their strongest link sitting out of their team at the moment Elements are at a clear advantage and have been having strong performances lately which only increase their changes.
Prediction: Elements Victory. With the Unicorns of Love jungler taken away and having to replace him with short notice they have to use a player that the team isn’t all too familiar with. Whilst Elements sit on their strong performances and complete team I’ll be siding with them as the most likely team to win.
Week 3 | Day 1 – Match #5: H2K vs. Team Vitality
Start Time: January 28, 01:00 PM PST/ 04:00 PM EST/ 22:00 CET
The final game of the day and probably the most exciting, we have H2k who recently took down an undefeated G2 Esports against Team Vitality who’ve only lost to Roccat which comes as a surprise considering their current standing on the ladder. Which team will prevail, the win-streak of Team Vitality or the consistent improvement of H2k?
H2k: Regular improvements and a steady increase in their performances have H2k sitting on the brink of being at the top of the ladder. This match could decide for them if they’re going to be a team sitting at the top or not, this is their week to really show up and prove themselves and they’re going to need to step up to take down Team Vitality.
Team Vitality: A rough first day hit them with an early loss and spoiled their record but they’re on a 3 win streak across the past 3 weeks winning all games apart from their very first. They’ve shown potential, strength and determination and are going to be one of the most difficult teams to defeat this split, or so it seems. Can H2k break them down or will Team Vitality survive and push their way to the top of the ladder?
After looking into the statistics of both teams H2k are at a clear advantage, especially considering the 36.0 KDA of their Marksman. Team Vitality has a few strong links on their team and with Ryu from H2k being covered by Selfie for the time being it’s only a small advantage. H2k could be in a bit of trouble if they’ve not been able to synchronise with their current mid-laner but knowing the experience of Selfie I have confidence in his ability to adapt.
Team Vitality is going to want a large early lead, doing so would shut down the chances of H2k but the issue would be gaining such a lead. H2k has a formidable early game and their biggest weakness is their macro management which isn’t actually that bad. It’s a difficult challenge but they’re going to need to play on the weakness of a substitute mid-laner. Camp the mid-lane early and force any advantage they can gain from it, keep a wall of wards in the river and counter any movements from they can track from H2k. If they can at least go even in the early game then they open up their chances to force fights later on.
They’re going to want to draft a composition that team fights well and they’re going to want to force objectives. A combination of early game champions with late game carries is probably their strongest possible draft, taking away carries such as Corki from the H2k marksman are also a must.
This match could go the way of either team, H2k have a better early game in my opinion and have a consistently good mid/late game too, they’re a well-rounded team but with a substitute they could be out manoeuvred. Team Vitality has strong compositions and an aggressive early style which helps them build advantages which is exactly what they need.
Prediction: H2k Victory. Selfie, who will be covering the mid lane for H2k, is a phenomenal player and will fit nicely with the H2k team. The drive and passion of the team will excel their practice and help him get comfortable with the team making it more difficult for Team Vitality. I expect a lot of kills in the early game but H2k will eventually take a lead and take it to the nexus of Team Vitality.
Once again we’ll be sticking to 2 focus games with quick conclusions of the remaining 3, for Week 3 Day 2 we’ll be focusing on G2 Esports vs. Unicorns of Love and Fnatic vs. Splyce. With both of these teams being tied with their opponents on the ladder I think they’re going to be the most exciting games of the day, not the most dominating but certainly the ones that’ll keep you on edge. Don’t forget to tune in a root for your favourite!
Week 3 | Day 2 – Match #1: Origen vs. Elements
Start Time: January 29, 09:00 AM PST/ 12:00 PM EST/ 18:00 CET
Sitting closely on the ladder, both of these teams are aiming for a victory to climb that extra step but Elements are going to need to get over their loss on Week 3 Day 1 quickly to come into this match level headed. Origen took a victory on Week 3 Day 1 and they’re looking more confident, a few mistakes but they took the game.
Prediction: Origen Victory. They’re looking strong at the moment and with that extra victory they’re going to carry their confidence to Week 3 Day 2, Elements are strong but after such a disastrous loss their weaknesses are being pointed out to be exploited. I think Origen are going to take this game early and run with it.
Week 3 | Day 2 – Match #2: Team Vitality vs. Giants
Start Time: January 29, 10:00 AM PST/ 01:00 PM EST/ 19:00 CET
Team Vitality had a rough game on Week 3 Day 2 but they’re a team that know how to stay strong and work their way back up. Giants are in an extremely tough position right at the bottom of the ladder and they’re aching to take a win. This game will be hard for them but VIT might just slip up.
Prediction: Vitality Victory. They’re at an extremely clear advantage as they’re sitting by the top of the ladder as Giants are yet to take a single victory. Giants have had a few matches where they look okay but in comparison to Vitality they’re far behind in terms of macro management and even laning mechanics.
Week 3 | Day 2 – Match #3: Unicorns of Love vs. G2 eSports
Start Time: January 29, 11:00 AM PST/ 02:00 PM EST/ 20:00 CET
The Unicorns of Love made a great impact during Week 3 Day 1 as they managed to take a dominating victory over Elements whilst using a substitute player and their ability to adapt to the change was formidable as most teams with a sudden change have trouble adapting, which was shown but a few early mistakes from H2k Selfie in the middle lane against Vitality. G2 had a good game vs. Fnatic and eventually took the victory by pressing every single mistake Fnatic made, of which there were plenty. Will the Unicorns climb or will the equal standing G2 take a top spot with H2k?
Unicorns Of Love: A fantastic game against Elements really set in stone how quickly they’ve adapted to their sudden roster change, possibly the most dominating victory they’ve had this season so far but we’re going to have to wait to see if they can pull off something similar against a team as strong as G2 Esports.
G2 Esports: Currently seen as a top 3 team in Europe, opinions about G2 have changed significantly since the start of the season where people were unsure how well they’d perform. Opinions have been changed and G2 are clearly a top contender but how well can they handle the unpredictability of UoL, can they take the early lead they’re so used to earning? Or will UoL surprise them?
I think the Unicorns of Love are at an advantage here; their clear victory against Elements is no easy feat and should be respected by all competing teams. G2 had little trouble against Fnatic, who were in a bad place for the majority of the match, and took a seemingly easy victory. If the Unicorns of Love can press early advantages they might be able to use their odd rotations and macro management along with the aggression of Djoko, their substitute jungler, to force fights and build an advantage to aim for victory however G2 are not an easy team to take down in the earlier stages of the game.
G2 are going to want early wards which they slowly move forward throughout the game to keep track of any movements or rotations made by UoL. The slightly deeper vision is key to reacting quickly to the odd movement of the Unicorns of Love and if they can react accordingly they should be able to create an advantage of their own as the G2 jungler, Trick, is proving to be trouble for all other junglers currently playing in the region.
Prediction: Unicorns of Love Victory. A difficult decision but I think UoL have been performing amazingly and will be a difficult match-up for G2 Esports.G2 have only lost a game against H2k who are currently at the top of the ladder, but this could all change if the aggressive early game of UoL shows up on Week 3 Day 2.
Week 3 | Day 2 – Match #4: Fnatic vs. Splyce
Start Time: January 29, 12:00 PM PST/ 03:00 PM EST/ 21:00 CET
With how these teams have been performing lately things seem backwards, Fnatic have been losing miserably and Splyce have shown great improvement. I was expecting Giants to contest the game on Week 3 Day 1 but Splyce really showed up and hit them hard. Fnatic had an abysmal game against G2 and really got shoved around but considering it was against a top of the ladder team we’ll have to take it a little lightly.
Can Fnatic stand tall and fix their mistakes or will Splyce outplay and out-rotate the Fnatic roster to take yet another victory?
Splyce: Beware of the middle lane, Splyce were working through the game slowly against Giants until Sencux took the game into his own hands and single headedly made enough impact to completely shift the game state. Target bans are likely and they’re going to need to be prepared but with their recent improvements they could take down the 2015 Summer Split champions.
Fnatic: The 2015 Summer Split champions are having a hard time, extremely inconsistent and they really need to work on it. Some games they’re looking phenomenal and other games they’re completely crashing out. They really need to work on their cohesion and macro management or they’ll be sitting at the bottom of the ladder shortly. Can they make the improvements needed; will the dominating Fnatic show up? Or will they fall to the ever improving Splyce?
A tough road is ahead for both teams and I expect the earlier stages of the game to play out extremely slowly. Keep an eye on the middle lane as both Febiven and Sencux have the potential to take the entire game into their own hands and make the game revolve around them.
Fnatic might want to consider shutting down or at least slowing down Sencux in the middle lane if he gets a strong pick in the drafting phase. Early wards around the middle of the map, near river and the middle lane brushes are going to be needed as both teams have strong carries in that middle lane. I expect there to be a lot of mid-lane focus in this game with a few early game champions being picked. This might pose an issue for Splyce as Fnatic also have an extremely mechanically skilled top laner in Gamsu and he also has the potential to carry the entire team on his back if he gains a lead.
Both teams will face difficult decisions and will want to avoid obvious mistakes, Fnatic are going to want to slow down Sencux while helping their top laner gain a gold lead which can translate into global pressure and Splyce are going to want to do something opposite. Splyce are going to want to try and get a small lead in the middle lane whilst slowing down any advances made in the top side of the map.
Early rotations and tempo-plays are likely but I think Fnatic want to avoid them. It’d give an advantage to Splyce but Fnatic could take earlier rotations to gain the tempo and turn it on Splyces head.
Prediction: Fnatic Victory. Difficult to come to that conclusion, both teams have similar strategies and it comes down to who ever can execute them better. Fnatic want to gain an advantage in the top lane and Splyce want one in the middle lane, this makes it possible for both teams to gain the advantage where they want it and after that it comes down to who ever can carry harder, I’ll be sitting that pressure on Gamsu and Febiven of Fnatic as I think they have more experience and a better ability to carry the game.
Week 3 | Day 2 – Match #5: Roccat vs. H2K
Start Time: January 29, 01:00 PM PST/ 04:00 PM EST/ 22:00 CET
This match Is most certainly in favour of H2k, they’re sitting as the current strongest team in the EU LCS and are making it difficult for any team to overcome them even when they’re running a substitute mid-laner and are missing their strongest shot-caller. Roccat are going to have an extremely tough time but they need to prove themselves and try to take their second victory of the season.
Prediction: H2k Victory. H2k are easily the stronger performing team here, Roccat are likely to lose during the earlier stages of the game and H2k are going to press their advantage extremely quickly. Their ability to relentlessly siege and pressure globally are going to keep Roccat in a tough spot as their base is destroyed.
