Preview and Predictions

EU LCS Summer Split Week 8 – Day 2:

Week 8 Day 1 had a few surprised as teams are showing what they’re capable of when it real boils down to taking those last few points for their ladder standings. Splyce came out on top of Fnatic and H2k took down Team Vitality; these could be seen as fairly key matches as these last few weeks unfold. For day 2 we’re going to be focusing on H2k vs. Splyce along with Origen vs. Fnatic. Make sure you catch the games on Friday, July 22nd!

Origen vs. Fnatic EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 8

Week 8 | Day 2 – Match #1: Origen EU LCS Team Logo LoL Origen vs. Fnatic EU LCS Team Logo LoL Fnatic

Start Time: July 22, 08:00 AM PDT/ 11:00 AM EDT/ 17:00 CEST

Head to head record: Tied Series

It’s been a while since these 2 teams have gone head to head, with their discussed rivaly and their many changes over the course of the summer split I’m sure this series could bring us some excitement. Fnatic has looked a little less consistent recently whereas Origen have been slowly making improvements with the new addition to their roster.

I’d give the advantage to Fnatic even though they’ve been a bit underwhelming recently. Origen has been performing well since their roster change but I don’t think it’s going to be enough to overcome Fnatic. This could however change if Fnatic are having a rough day and continue their streak of negative consistency.

Origen - EU LCS Team LogoOrigen should pick their strong top lane champion, the Gangplank pick didn’t work so well for them against Giants so I think they should revert back to the Trundle as it was a more consistent and comfortable pick for them. It will be assisted by an Elise or Olaf in the jungle, they will be able to apply quite a bit of pressure during the earlier stages of the game to that lane if they’re ever expecting trouble on that side of the map. The middle lane of Origen is likely to make an Azir appearance which is fantastic for their composition, it gives them wave clear which they could be lacking along with some team fight repositioning. Origen’s bottom lane is likely to ain for the Braum support, it’s worked fairly well for them and is a confident pick for their bottom lane, this is likely to be paired with a Sivir or Ashe. Origen will want to get a neutral line of vision close to their lanes and throughout the river, this will let them avoid any unwanted conflicts in the earlier stages of the game and will let them reach the middle stages where they could start to thrive. Origen’s composition possibilities open up lot of potential to pick off their opponents and build leads in a gradual manner, they’re going to want to try and find fights by picking off opponents and working around superior lines of vision. When the later stages of the game rolls around they’re going to want to continue trying to pick off their opponents but will need to control objectives as well, this could be a challenge for them but will open up the game for them if they come out on top; opening up the series.

Fnatic EU LCS Team Logo LoLFnatic has favoured melee supports such as Braum and Trundle so I expect one of those champions to be a contest pick, this could give them a minor advantage right from champion select; this is likely to be paired with a Lucian or Jhin. Both of those marksmen picks have very different play styles but Fnatic will be able to play to multiple strengths. Their middle lane could contest the Azir pick that Origen has found so comfortable, falling back onto Viktor or Zilean. The jungler of Fnatic has shown a diverse and deep champion pool but I’d like to see more Reksai and Olaf from them, they’re able to exert a lot of early pressure and can scale nicely. Fnatic’s top lane has picked up Gnar extremely regularly and I’d be more surprised to not see it than if it were to appear in their line-up, it’s able to impact team fights significantly along with having potential to split push. Once they’ve got all their preferred champions Fnatic are going to need to equalise the jungle pressure from Origen, to do this they’re going to need to try and get some aggressive wards in the Origen jungle. This will let them keep track of rotations from the Origen jungler and laners, being able to react quickly and possibly even take advantage of the situations. For Fnatic to come out on top they’re going to want to play a game based around their macro management as it’s appear superior to Origen’s. They’ll want to scale up to a comfortable position and take a stand during team fights, if they don’t come out on top they’ll want to start working their way around the map to gain a tempo advantage and then move onto objectives. This will give them a huge amount of sieging pressure and will keep Origen moving around the map trying to keep up, this will open up opportunities for Fnatic to take high impact fights or slowly push for the win, giving them what they need to take another series.

Prediction: Fnatic Victory. Fnatic might not have looked as strong recently but against Origen I think they’re going to put on a confident performance. They’ve got a higher standing on the ladder and Origen have still done a few questionable things that I think Fnatic will take advantage of to come out on top.

G2 Esports vs. FC Schalke 04 EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 8

Week 8 | Day 2 – Match #2: G2 Esports EU LCS Team Logo LoL G2 Esports vs. FC Schalke 04 EU LCS Team Logo FC Schalke 04

Start Time: July 22, 10:00 AM PDT/ 01:00 PM EDT/ 19:00 CEST

Head to head record: Tied Series

G2 Esports are in a fairly odd position, under normal circumstances they’d be considered a significantly stronger team because of their 1st position but with how the current EU format works they’re also stuck with 7 ties under their belt which is nearly as many as their victories.  FC Schalke 04 looked like a fairly strong team during the beginning and middle of the summer split but hasn’t been able to pull forward, this is going to bite them during this series as they could run into a lot of trouble.

Prediction: G2 Esports Victory. FC Schalke 04 has looked slightly rougher than normal whilst G2 Esports have been continuing their consistency. Because of this I think G2 Esports are going to come away with the series with a victory instead of a tie, solidifying their position on the ladder.

Giants vs. Vitality EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 8

Week 8 | Day 2 – Match #3: Giants EU LCS Team Logo LoL Giants vs. Vitality EU LCS Team Logo LoL Vitality

Start Time: July 22, 12:00 PM PDT/ 03:00 PM EDT/ 21:00 CEST

Head to head record: Tied Series

Giants have been able to take significantly more series victories than VIT but have also fallen more often, Vitality have proven to be consistently average. That’s not a bad thing though! Team Vitality has confidently taken back many series’ when they were able to take a victory and I think they’re going to give Giants quite a hard time here.

Prediction: Tied Series. Team Vitality would normally appear to be a stronger team as they’ve played more consistently and have fewer losses however they’ve rarely been able to take control of a series and take a victory. I think Giants are going to capitalise on this and equalise the series.

H2K Gaming vs. Splyce EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 8

Week 8 | Day 2 – Match #4: H2K Gaming EU LCS Team Logo LoL H2K Gaming vs. Splyce EU LCS Team Logo LoL Splyce

Start Time: July 22, 08:00 AM PDT/ 11:00 AM EDT/ 17:00 CEST

Head to head record: Tied Series

When H2k last faced Splyce the series ended in a tie but a lot has changed for both of these teams in these last few weeks. As we’re slowly pacing in on the end of the summer split both teams have been pulling out their best possible performances and I’m sure it’ll show during this series.

I’d give Splyce a slight advantage here, they were just able to take down Fnatic and take a victory which puts them just slightly behind G2 Esports on the ladder. H2k aren’t too far behind them but they’re far enough behind for this series to be a big challenge for them.

H2K Gaming EU LCS Team Logo LoLH2k Gaming are going to want to build a composition similar to what they used on day 1, it worked well for them and could lead them to a comfortable victory. This means we could be seeing more Hecarim in the jungle, with Gragas as their comfortable fall back champion if it’s not available. The middle lane is likely to be a Vladimir or Viktor which can have phenomenal impact during team fights but also have the potential to stall out the game if they happen to fall behind. Their top lane worked extremely well with the Malzahar flex pick and I’d like to see more of it, falling back onto Shen or Lissandra. The bottom lane of H2k is going to be slightly more high impact, many rotations and fantastic sieging comes from this lane so they’re going to need a potent bottom lane; pairing a Sivir with a Karma could easily achieve this. Once they’re loaded and onto the rift they’re going to want to try and impact the lanes as quickly as possible, they should get some vision close to their lanes and try to get a few aggressive wards near their opponent’s jungle. This will let them focus on getting their lanes ahead through jungle pressure whilst being able to avoid a lot of conflict in the earlier stages of the game. To take a lead H2k are going to want to scale up until the middle stages of the game and then find areas with deep warding to set up skirmishes and fights, they could quickly erupt into multiple engagements to take a sizable lead along with a significant amount of map pressure. This will let them push forward for their opponent’s base and take a victory, setting them ahead in the series.

Splyce EU LCS Team Logo LoLSplyce have been performing fantastically lately, I’d like to see similar compositions come from them where they have a dominating top laner such as Fiora or Irelia paired with their early pressure jungler such as Elise or Gragas. This will let them propel their top laner into a position of power and slowly gain significant amounts of control over the game. This will be assisted by a Malzahar or Kassadin in the middle lane along with a Sivir paired with a Braum or Nami in the bottom lane. Once they’re loaded in and on the rift they’re going to want to set up some aggressive vision in their opponent’s jungle or close to its entrances by the river. This will let them pressure the top lane during the earlier stages of the game to try and gain a small advantage on that side of the map, this can quickly fall into significant favour for them as their top laner can pressure regularly to open up space for Splyce to contest objectives. If Splyce can pressure the map in a way that makes H2k split into multiple groups to find answers then Splyce will be able to slow gain control over the map and will be able to access multiple objectives without much difficulty, this will give them large advantages and will let them reign over the game, taking a win and giving them a head start in the series.

Prediction: Splyce Victory. I think Splyce have proven that they’re a top level European team and although H2k are a strong team they might not be able to overcome them. Splyce have been able to prove recently that they’re able to contest and take over a series even against the strongest of opponents; I think that’ll shine through here.

Unicorns of Love vs. Roccat EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 8

Week 8 | Day 2 – Match #5: Unicorns of Love EU LCS Team Logo LoL  Unicorns of Love vs. ROCCAT EU LCS Team Logo LoL ROCCAT

Start Time: July 22, 10:00 AM PDT/ 01:00 PM EDT/ 19:00 CEST

Head to head record: Tied Series

Roccat managed to pull ahead of S04 after their day 1 series, this was a fantastic step up for them as it was their second victory of the season but it could be a little too late. They’ve still got a few possibilities open if they keep up the pace but UoL is going to be a challenge for them. The Unicorns of Love fell to G2 Esports on day 1 but hold a pretty good record for the split; this could give them the head start they need.

Prediction: Tied Series. Unicorns of love have looked a little roughed up recently and their performances haven’t screamed confidence, because of this I think Roccat will be able to contest this series and slow down any advancement.

EU LCS Summer Split Week 8 – Day 1:

Week 8 Day 1 will be a focus on Fnatic vs. Splyce along with H2k vs. Team Vitality; these games look to be fairly balanced and the series’ could be thrown in multiple ways. Both series’ are important to the teams because they could quite easily shake up the ladder and create a ripple for the teams as we’re heading into the summer playoffs. Make sure you catch the games as they roll out on Thursday, 21st July!

Fnatic vs. Splyce EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 8

Week 8 | Day 1 – Match #1: Fnatic EU LCS Team Logo LoL Fnatic vs. Splyce EU LCS Team Logo LoL Splyce

Start Time: July 21, 08:00 AM PDT/ 11:00 AM EDT/ 17:00 CEST

Head to head record: Fnatic 1:0 Splyce

Fairly close in the standings, both of these teams will be fighting for safety and the possibility to scrape those few last victories before the split comes to a close. Fnatic have been showing promise with a new top laner but Splyce have been showing promise, winning the majority of their recent games.

Fnatic are looking like the stronger team, their recent performances have shown that they’ve covering their weaker spots well and they’ve been difficult to overcome. FC Schalke 04 managed to break through the new roster but as the weeks pass they will only grow more comfortable. This will be a challenge for Splyce to overcome but they’ve been performing extremely well recently and it’s definitely possible.

Fnatic EU LCS Team Logo LoLFnatic are going to want to utilise their new strength in the top lane with picks that can get work done, this could be achieved by a Gnar or Irelia because both can work well in skirmishes along with split pushing. This could be assisted greatly in the early and middle stages of the game by a jungle champion such as Olaf or Reksai; this is likely to also be assisting an Azir or Viktor in the middle lane. The bottom lane of Fnatic has been fairly consistent, they’ve regularly picked up Lucian as their marksmen and paired it with a Braum or Trundle; I expect these to show up during this series. When they’re ready and on the rift I think they should aim to get vision throughout the river along with some aggressive pieces on the top side of the map. This will let them throw out aggressive movements on the top side of the map to try and propel their laner into a strong position. With their top laner satisfied they’re going to want to try and balance out the middle lane whilst getting their bottom lane to aggressively rotate to try and gain a large amount of map control. Using this map control they can use their well-positioned bottom lane to overcome skirmishes, take advantage or their map presence through split pushing and begin to siege their way through the structures and base of Splyce, giving them a lead in the series and giving them a great start to their final push before the close of the split.

Splyce EU LCS Team Logo LoLSplyce have been playing confidently lately and it’s been working excellently for them, they’ve managed to tie their series with G2 Esports along with coming out on top of Giants. They’re going to want to build a similar composition to the ones they’ve found success on; this means we could be looking at more Reksai in the jungle along with a Caitlyn or Sivir in the bottom lane; likely to be paired with a Braum or Bard. I’d like to see more Malzahar from their middle lane, with Azir as a comfortable fall-back champion. Finally to finish their composition they’re going to need a strong top laner who can work fairly independently, Tahm Kench and Shen can work through the earlier stages of the game with relatively small issues so seeing them on the top side of the map could bring relief to Splyce. Once they’ve got their composition locked in they’re going to need to try and counter the early top lane focus of Fnatic, with how recently their new top laner joined there might be some skewed synergy that Splyce can take advantage of to gain a small lead there. This won’t have too big an impact with a tank in the top lane but will work wonders for smaller skirmishes and middle game team fights once they roll around. During the middle stages of the game Splyce are going to want to try and get a bit of deeper vision in the jungle of Fnatic, this will notify them of quick rotations and will let them stay aware of possible aggression. With this extending vision they’ll be able to safely pressure objectives and pick team fights wisely; this will let them pick off their opponents for a small advantage before the team fights break out too! Splyce are going to need to head into the middle and later stages of the game with an advantage, even if it’s a small advantage such as tempo across the map. This will keep them relevant and contesting the regular fights that will break out, opening up large objectives for them along with the game; setting them ahead in the series and preparing them for later conflicts.

Prediction: Fnatic Victory. Fnatic had shown great impact during their games when their top laner was freshly introduced, now he’s had time to grow with the team I think they’re going to work much better. This will give them smaller advantages across the map as it can bring significant impact that I think Splyce is going to have trouble dealing with.

Origen vs. Giants EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 8

Week 8 | Day 1 – Match #2: Origen EU LCS Team Logo LoL Origen vs. Giants EU LCS Team Logo LoL Giants

Start Time: July 21, 10:00 AM PDT/ 01:00 PM EDT/ 19:00 CEST

Head to head record: Origen 0:1 Giants

It’s been 5 weeks since their last encounter and a lot has change for both of these teams this split, Giants have been able to climb to a fairly comfortable position on the ladder; although it’s not the strongest. This is quite opposite to Origen who has crumbled from their power house last split to a bottom standing team. Origen is going to need to give this their all to climb away from those troubles that come to teams at the bottom of the ladder.

Prediction: Origen Victory. Origen has looked quite strong recently, contesting their series with S04 along with taking down Roccat with their new marksmen, this is opposite for Giants who have lost all of their most recent matches.

FC Schalke 04 vs. Roccat EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 8

Week 8 | Day 1 – Match #4: FC Schalke 04 EU LCS Team Logo FC Schalke 04 vs. ROCCAT EU LCS Team Logo LoL ROCCAT

Start Time: July 21, 12:00 PM PDT/ 03:00 PM EDT/ 21:00 CEST

Head to head record: FC Schalke04 1:0 Roccat

Roccat look to be in a bit of trouble here, S04 hold the head to head along with a significantly stronger position on the ladder. Roccat have shown us that they can tie a series but have rarely come out on top of them; this is what they need though. Tying the series with S04 might shake things up a little bit but a victory against them will set them up to contest ladder positions. S04 won’t break easily though.

Prediction: FC Schalke 04 Victory. S04 haven’t been able to come out on top of their latest series’ but they were able to pull off a few ties. This was against teams ahead of Roccat on the ladder and with stronger performances across the split. Because of this I think S04 are the more consistent and stronger performing team of the 2 and are more likely to come out on top.

H2K Gaming vs. Vitality EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 8

Week 8 | Day 1 – Match #3: H2K Gaming EU LCS Team Logo LoL H2K Gaming vs. Vitality EU LCS Team Logo LoL Vitality

Start Time: July 21, 08:00 AM PDT/ 11:00 AM EDT/ 17:00 CEST

Head to head record: H2k 1:0 Team Vitality

This is Team Vitality’s last chance to take revenge before the end of the split, this series comes as great importance to both teams because the result can twist a few positions on the ladder. With how close a lot of the European ladder has been I think this could be one of the most important series’ of the week. H2k had a rough week 7 where they didn’t manage to take a single game but this could be the week they finally bring out their secret weapon. Team Vitality also didn’t have the best performances but took away a few victories, more than H2k can say.

Even though H2k ran into a lot of issues during week 7 they were against the top contending teams so their losses are partially understandable. Team Vitality on the other hand was going against teams around the bottom and middle of the ladder, they shouldn’t have run into too much trouble but they did. I’d give the advantage to H2k because of their average performances last week against the top teams whilst holding stronger standings across the split.

H2K Gaming EU LCS Team Logo LoLH2k Gaming are going to want to utilise their versatile bottom lane, picking up a Caitlyn or Lucian is likely; pairing it with a Karma or Bard also wouldn’t be surprising. This will be partially assisted by a Reksai, maybe even a Hecarim, in the jungle during the early and middle stages of the game. The top lane of H2k is also going to be assisted, getting the likes of a Gnar or Rumble ahead in the earlier stages of the game can really lay out the middle and later stages for them. The middle lane of H2k is where a lot of their team fighting potential comes from. Using AoE champions such as Viktor, Cassiopeia or Vladimir is likely because of the sheer wave clear and team fighting potential they have. Once they’ve loaded into the rift they’re going to want to set up a neutral line of vision close to their lanes and spread across the river, they’ll be able to take a few skirmishes in the earlier stages of the game which could give them a small lead. They’re going to want to stabilize their top lane quickly so applying pressuring on that side of the map with roams or jungle pressure will give them fantastic control heading into the middle stages of the game. H2k have often built a composition that thrives in team fighting, more so when their opponent is caught in an enclosed space like the jungle or around the highly contested objectives. H2k are going to want to use this to their advantage when picking fights, if they set up a large and variable amount of vision close to objectives they can safely fall back a short distance and keep an eye out for good opportunities. After they’ve built a false sense of security for their opponents they can capitalise on over-confidence and take those team fights, this will set them up for taking those contested objectives and will give them a sizable lead to take over the game. This will set them up nicely to contest or take the series.

Vitality - EU LCS team LogoTeam Vitality have found a few comfortable picks that can work extremely well during this series, adopting split pushing with an Irelia or Jax in the top lane could help them avoid unwanted fights along with pressuring multiple objectives or locations on the map. This will be assisted by a Olaf or Gragas in the jungle, the earlier pressure these champions are able to pump out could set up VIT for taking early objectives which will be difficult for H2K to contest. The middle lane of VIT have found a lot of success on Ryze so seeing it picked up could instil confidence in the team, I’d also like the see them utilize Malzahar more. VIT’s bottom lane has regularly picked up Sivir along with Jhin, these can work extremely well when paired with a Morgana or Nami. After locking in and loading onto the rift I think Team Vitality should pick up some early aggressive wards, they’re going to want to try and pick up an advantage before the middle stages of the game roll around. They’re going to have a difficult time during those middle game team fights because of possible compositions but they should be able to thrive in the earlier and later stages if they adopt a split pushing style; focusing on the top lane during those earlier stages of the game should build them a respectable advantage and will alleviate pressure across other parts of the map, letting VIT siege more often. They’ll need to work around objectives carefully but if they’ve got aggressive vision they’ll be able to keep an eye on their opponents and split push safely, contesting the objective whilst building more of an advantage on the opposite side of the map. They should be able to slowly work their way into the base of H2k if they play patiently, their shot calling may be questionable at times but it’s going to be extremely important if they’re playing with this sort of style. They’re likely to build large amounts of pressure using their top laner which could then translate into advantageous fights; this will set them ahead during the series and open it up for revenge.

Prediction: Tied Series. H2k have definitely looked slightly rougher than usual, they were unable to pull out strong performances or ties recently which are rough for them this close to the end of the split. I think they’re at an advantage but with how well Team Vitality is able to adapt to their opponents this series is likely to end tied.

G2 Esports vs. Unicorns of Love EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 8

Week 8 | Day 1 – Match #5: G2 Esports EU LCS Team Logo LoL G2 Esports vs. Unicorns of Love EU LCS Team Logo LoL  Unicorns of Love

Start Time: July 21, 10:00 AM PDT/ 01:00 PM EDT/ 19:00 CEST

Head to head record: G2 Esports 1:0 Unicorns of Love

G2 Esports hold the head to head and this is the Unicorn’s last chance to take revenge. Will it happen though? Unicorns of Love have looked quite strong recently but taking down G2 Esports is going to be extremely challenging. G2 Esports have taken victories regularly and stand at the top of the ladder, as the split comes to a close they’re going to want to solidify this.

Prediction: G2 Esports Victory. G2 Esports are the top standing team, hold the head to head and have rarely been shaken up this split; sure they’re sitting with a bundle of ties but they have never lost a series outright. Because of this I think they’re going to come out on top.
