Preview and Predictions:

NA LCS Summer Split Week 7 – Day 3:

There was a lot of action during the Day 2 games and I think we’re going to continue having an exceptional week as we’ve now got the chance to watch the Cloud9 vs. Counter Logic Gaming series along with Team Liquid vs. Team Solo Mid; both of which will be our Day 3 focus matches! Make sure you catch the games as they go live, using the same times as the Saturday games, on Sunday, July 17th!

Cloud9 vs Counter Logic Gaming NA LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 7Week 7 | Day 3 – Match #1: Cloud9 NA LCS Team Logo LoL Cloud9 vs. CLG NA LCS Team Logo LoL Counter Logic Gaming

Start Time: July 17, 12:00 PM PDT/ 03:00 PM EDT/ 21:00 CEST

Head to head record: Cloud9 1:0 Counter Logic Gaming

Cloud9 had a lot of trouble when facing off against Apex on day 2 but that could simply be the improvements that Apex has made recently. Cloud9 has rarely lost to teams below them and are holding a fairly strong position on the ladder but that won’t be enough to bring down Counter Logic Gaming; who have shown phenomenal and rapid improvements as the split comes to a close.

I’d give Counter Logic Gaming the advantage here, they were able to hold their own against Immortals on day 1 when they took the series to a 3rd game whereas Cloud9 has slowly been having more difficult times.

Cloud9 NA LCS Team Logo LoLCloud9’s top laner was having a few issues during Day 2 but Cloud9 as a whole were performing quite well. They’ve been using a fairly diverse set of champions that can control all stages of the game but don’t really excel. I think this composition works for them as it’s a shield for the earlier stages of the game and a shiv later on. Using their common Trundle along with a Shen or Gnar in the top lane could give them great team fighting impact or split pushing pressure; this will help them deal with a likely composition from CLG. Their middle lane is likely to fall back onto the control mages he’s had so much comfort on, Azir and Viktor could be phenomenal but I’d like to see more of that Malzahar shown from day 2. These lanes are likely to be assisted by a Gragas in the jungle, falling back onto a Reksai if it’s not available; these picks could give them great map pressure in the earlier stages to help the laners out significantly. The bottom lane of C9 has used a combination of Bard and Karma as their supports in recent games so seeing it again would come as no surprise, pairing it with a Jhin or Ashe could give them fantastic tools for engagement. When they’re ready and on the rift they’re going to want to try and get some aggressive wards in the top lane whilst covering the river across the map. This will let them often pressure the top lane and try to gain a small advantage there; this will have significant impact as the top laner of CLG is quite a large part of their regular win condition. They’re going to want to slowly push their wards forward as they get more confident, picking off opponents when they find them in dangerous positions. They’ll be able to create a lot of skirmishes and fights fairly often when the middle stages of the game rolls around and this will play a significant role in them taking over the game; they’re going to want to find those engages, come out on top of those fights and then take down or pressure as many objectives and as much of the map as possible in a short space of time. This can be achieved more easily if they’re ready with ward coverage and prepared to expand their map control. This is how they can come out on top of Counter Logic Gaming but they’re going to need to keep a lot of pressure focused around that top lane whilst looking for the middle lane roaming from CLG. Preparation will be a key aspect but it’s their most likely strategy to come out on top and get ahead in the series.

Counter Logic Gaming NA LCS Team Logo LoLCounter Logic Gaming managed to have a really good performance against Immortals and I think they should recreate a similar style of composition as it can be extremely challenging for their opponents to deal with. This means a split pushing champion in the top lane such as Jax or Irelia; both of these champions have phenomenal duelling potential and great pushing speeds. The middle lane of CLG will want to get something that’s considerably mobile and able to quickly roam, this will assist CLG in pressuring lanes and setting up carries for those later stage fights. To do this they’ll want to pick up something like Aurelion Sol but falling back onto Ryze could still help them impact those middle game team fights. These lanes will be heavily assisted by a Gragas or Reksai in the jungle, which will both be contested champion picks so they’re going to need to grab their preference quickly. The bottom lane of CLG is full of game changing support plays so a Bard or Morgana will give them the tools they need to catch out opponents, pairing these with a Sivir or Jhin could give them even more tools to find those engagements. Once they’ve locked in and loaded in they’re going to want to contest the vision in the top lane and try to get some deep warding down in their opponents jungle, this will free up room for the laners to push without much worry along with giving their own jungler an advantage when it comes to ganking and assisting lanes. They should be able to apply a lot of pressure in the top and middle lanes through their jungler and roaming from the solo lanes, seeing early game skirmishes could be likely as CLG often fight for small leads. After attempts at taking those small leads they’re going to want to start pressuring side lanes and working around the map using sporadic rotations, this will give them a tempo lead and an advantage when they want to start or control objectives. This will also give them an upper hand when it comes to picking later stage team fights; this is how they’re going to want to gain a significant lead. Sending their split pusher into a side lane and playing their opponents slowly, only taking a large scale fight if they’ve got a good flank or if their split pusher can do some serious damage. This will keep them in a strong position to contest the game even if things go wrong and I believe this is CLG’s best way to come out ahead in the series.

Prediction: Counter Logic Gaming Victory. I think Counter Logic Gaming have the potential to come out on top, Cloud9 had a bit of trouble against Apex but their 3rd game of the series they really showed how much they can pressure. CLG is going to need to watch out for this and then I think their macro management will take over the games and give them a 2:1 series.

Team Envy vs Apex Gaming NA LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 7Week 7 | Day 3 – Match #2: Team Envy NA LCS Logo Team EnVy vs. Apex Gaming NA LCS Team Logo LoL Apex Gaming

Start Time: July 17, 03:00 PM PDT/ 06:00 PM EDT/ 00:00 CEST

Head to head record: Team Envy 1:0 Apex Gaming

Team Envy have been having a bit of a hard time recently whereas Apex are looking more on form. Apex were able to contest their series against Cloud9 on day 2 and nearly took away the series, this is a big step up for them and is making them show their true potential. This is quite opposite for Team Envy as they’ve been slowly tumbling down the ladder.

Prediction: Apex Gaming Victory. Apex has been looking strong, as strong as the teams in the top positions. Not quite a top team but they’ve got the potential to push that far. Team Envy looked great at the start of the split but has been tumbling down as the half way mark passes. They’re going to need to give this everything they’ve got if they want to take those better positions on the ladder.

Immortals vs Echo Fox NA LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 7Week 7 | Day 3 – Match #3: Team Immortals NA LCS Team Logo LoL Immortals vs. Echo Fox NA LCS Team Logo LoL Echo Fox

Start Time: July 17, 12:00 PM PDT/ 03:00 PM EDT/ 21:00 CEST

Head to head record: Immortals 1:0 Echo Fox

Immortals are currently on a phenomenal 12:1 score and are sitting in a very solid 2nd place on the ladder, in comparison to Echo Fox who are at the bottom of the ladder. Immortals are at a huge advantage here because they’ve been performing on a significantly higher level. Echo Fox are facing tough times but they’ll need to come out on top if they want to make that final sprint for the end of the split.

Prediction: Immortals Victory. I think Immortals will be able to come out on top of this series fairly convincingly; in a similar fashion to Day 2’s P1 vs. TSM series. Immortals are significantly further ahead on the ladder, hold the head to head and have taken down stronger opponents in their way. I think we could be looking at another 2:0 for Immortals.

Team Liquid vs Team SoloMid NA LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 7Week 7 | Day 3 – Match #4: Team Liquid NA LCS Team Logo LoL Team Liquid vs. TSM NA LCS Team Logo LoL Team SoloMid

Start Time: July 17, 03:00 PM PDT/ 06:00 PM EDT/ 00:00 CEST

Head to head record: Team Liquid 0:1 Team Solo Mid

Team Solo Mid is still on form, being undefeated and sitting very comfortably at the top of the ladder. They’re about to face off against an on form Team Liquid who are looking much stronger than their first encounter. Team Liquid is going to put up one hell of a fight here and it’s their chance to give Team Solo Mid their first series loss.

Team Solo Mid is at a clear advantage here, still being an undefeated team this far into the split is such a difficult feat of strength. Team Solo Mid have outperformed every team they’ve come into contact with and although there have been a few close series’ all of them have ended in favour of TSM; not much has changed recently.

Team Liquid - NA LCS Team LogoTeam Liquid are going to want to get a hold of a composition that can thrive through many stages of the game, they’re going to want to try and get some early game power to help their scaling champions reach their peaks. For this they’re going to want to get a hold of that Rumble in the top lane or Shen if it’s not available, and pair it with something like a Vladimir in the middle lane. This will give them absolutely phenomenal team fighting potential which will be relevant for the majority of the game. They’re going to want a jungler that can pressure throughout the earlier stages of the game and get the lanes rolling, for this I think they should pick up a Gragas or Olaf. The bottom lane of Team Liquid is going to need to be high impact or extremely potent, we’re likely to see a Braum or Karma show up as their support which will be assisting a Sivir or Jhin; this will give them a phenomenal amount of utility in the middle and later stages of the game when team fighting becomes more common. During the start of the game once they’re on the rift they’re going to want to set up a line of vision close to their jungle entrances, near the river and their lanes. They’ll want to push this is of vision forward or retract it slightly, depending on how well their early game goes. During the earlier stages of the game they’re going to want to avoid skirmishes, they’ve got phenomenal team fighting which is enhanced by their composition style. They can take a few fights if they have a numbers advantage but they shouldn’t go looking for engages until the middle stages of the game, this will set them up to take objectives and get to those later stages where they’re more likely to come out on top. If they can make the game pass 30mins they’ll be on equal terms with Team Solo Mid and they’ll want their macro management to take over, Team Solo Mid have often made mistakes in the later stages of the game which has cost them a few perfect series’; this is how they’ll be able to come out on top of them and take the series.

Team SoloMid NA LCS Logo LoLTeam Solo Mid are going to want to keep up with what they’ve been doing, their comfort champions should be enough for them to thrive during this series so seeing some fairly common picks such as Sivir and Karma in the bottom lane should be far from surprising. This is like to be assisted by a Gragas in the jungle and their team fight disruption along with split pushing will come from a Trundle or Gnar in the top lane. The middle lane of TSM has been high impact so a Ryze or Azir could help him thrive during those laning phases and team skirmishes. Once they’re on the rift and they’ve built their preferred composition I think they should aim to set up an aggressive line of vision in the earlier stages of the game. They should be able to find, as well as come out on top of, skirmishes in the earlier stages of the game which will give them a small lead heading into those middle game team fights. Team Liquid will be looking for advantageous team fights in the middle stages of the game so TSM are going to need to be aware of their positioning and keep their vision up. They should be able to get through the middle stages of the game fairly unscathed if they’re playing on point, leaving them to handling the later stages of the game. The later stages of the game is where TSM are most likely to make mistakes to lose a game, to get around this they’re going to want to play extremely patiently, working around their opponents and working for those objectives. This will give them the upper hand when it comes to sieging and will give them exactly what they need to come out on top of the series.

Prediction: Team Solo Mid Victory. I don’t think it’s going to be a straight up victory for them and I think Team Liquid are going to be a challenge for Team Solo Mid however with how well they’ve performed throughout the entire split and with how difficult they’ve been to take down I think TSM will come out on top with a 2:1.

NA LCS Summer Split Week 7 – Day 2:

There were some truly phenomenal games during Week 7 Day 1 and I can’t wait for the week to progress! We’ve seen comebacks, throws and some extremely close encounters, heading into day 2 I hope there are more surprises. We’ll be taking a look at NRG Esports vs. Team Envy along with Cloud9 vs. Apex Gaming, make sure you catch the games live, they’re starting 3 hours earlier than usual, on Saturday, July 16th!

Echo Fox vs Team SoloMid NA LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 7Week 7 | Day 2 – Match #1: Echo Fox NA LCS Team Logo LoL Echo Fox vs. TSM NA LCS Team Logo LoL Team SoloMid

Start Time: July 16, 12:00 PM PDT/ 03:00 PM EDT/ 21:00 CEST

Head to head record: Echo Fox 0:1 Team Solo Mid

Team Solo Mid are still a rock in the NA LCS and are currently dominating the ladder, having gone through 12 series’ without dropping a single one they’re certainly the team to beat but will Echo Fox rise up to do it? We’ve seen upsets coming from the NA LCS before but Echo Fox, who are at the bottom of the ladder, are in for some trouble.

Prediction: Team Solo Mid Victory. Team Solo Mid are currently the top team, are undefeated, hold the head to head, have both phenomenal macro management and mechanics that have challenged every competing team so far and Echo Fox are at the bottom of the standings having issues, this is why I think TSM will take a clean series.

Cloud9 vs Apex Gaming NA LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 7Week 7 | Day 2 – Match #2: Cloud9 NA LCS Team Logo LoL Cloud9 vs. Apex Gaming NA LCS Team Logo LoL Apex Gaming

Start Time: July 16, 03:00 PM PDT/ 06:00 PM EDT/ 00:00 CEST

Head to head record: Cloud9 1:0 Apex Gaming

There have been a lot of negative discussions based around Apex and a few of their performances but they’ve shown, and even admitted, that they’ve had bad patches with underperformance and have since stepped back up to prove just how strong they can be. Cloud9 have found some success recently but could still run into trouble against Apex.

I’d give the advantage to Cloud9 here; they’ve got the head to head and have had more dominating and consistent performances. Apex looked a bit rough against NRG at times whereas Cloud9 managed to pick them apart. Both teams played NRG recently and Cloud9 definitely looked like the stronger performing team of the two.

Cloud9 NA LCS Team Logo LoLCloud9 have picked up Gragas as often as possible, having it played in their 4 most recent matches. This is likely to assist a Trundle or Gnar in the top lane, as they have been picked up regularly and had fairly good performances. The middle lane of Cloud9 continues a streak of diversity as he’s not often picking the same champions, we could be seeing more Taliyah however I think we’re likely to see more Azir along with some Viktor. The bottom lane of Cloud9 has regularly mixed things up but I’d like to see them pull out more Jhin, pairing it with the likes of a Bard or Braum if possible. During this series I think Cloud9 should aim to build some aggressive vision in the earlier stages of the game, facing Apex head on could give them huge advantages quickly. Apex Esports tend to try and take those earlier skirmishes and fights because it’s where they’re at their best however with some smart manoeuvres Cloud9 can outplay them, which they’ve done before, to come out on top quickly. To gain a significant lead they’re going to want to play the earlier stages of the game with some calculated aggression, forcing themselves onto their opponents with advanced warding; giving them important information to inform them of any possible threats. This will let them take an early lead and then pressure the middle stages of the game with their fantastic team fighting. Their early game could quickly translate into phenomenal impact in the middle stages of the game through both fights and objective control which I how I think they’re going to force their way into Apex’s base, eventually. This will let them create difficult situations for Apex and work their way to victory, taking that step forward through the series.

Apex Gaming NA LCS Team Logo LoLApex Gaming are going to try and get a hold of the Reksai in the jungle, it’s worked fairly well for them along with many other teams. It’s able to impact many different stages of the game and can have a very versatile play style, easily adapting to situations. This will likely assist an Ashe in the bottom lane which will be paired with an Alistar or Braum. The top lane of Apex can be extremely aggressive so a champion like Irelia or Jax could be phenomenal, it’d give them good late game scaling, a front line bruiser and a huge split pushing threat. The middle lane of Apex should try and take those control mages they’ve been able to perform well on, I’d like to see Azir or Viktor from them and picking up Zilean if necessary to round off their composition. When they’re loaded into the game I think they should try and get a fairly neutral, partially defensive, line of vision throughout the river and near their jungle; this should keep their lanes safe for a period of time before the fights start to kick off but will also notify them of their opponent’s movements. This will let them set up counter rotations or engages and give them an upper hand. Apex have shown previously that they’re able to take those risky plays and come out on top, the earlier stages of the game hasn’t always favoured them because of these risks but it could set them up nicely against Cloud9. Apex could gain a lead through counter rotations, working across the map to take down objectives and to build tempo for sieging. These things can all work well together and set Apex up nicely to take a few team fights, they’ll have the upper hand when engaging, so it’s clearly possible for them to take the lead; it’ll just depend heavily on how they handle those first 15mins. If they come out on top they could dictate the pace of the game, take a win and set themselves up to contest the series.

Prediction: Cloud9 Victory. Apex have been performing well recently, there’s no doubt about that. But taking into consideration the head to head record, the comparison performances with their recent matches against NRG along with the ladder standings it looks like Cloud9 will come out on top after a bit of a rough fight.

NRG Esports vs Team Envy NA LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 7Week 7 | Day 2 – Match #3: NRG Esports NA LCS Team Logo NRG Esports vs. Team Envy NA LCS Logo Team EnVy

Start Time: July 16, 12:00 PM PDT/ 03:00 PM EDT/ 21:00 CEST

Head to head record: NRG Esports 0:1 Team Envy

Team Envy are sitting in a fairly good position on the ladder, it’s a comfortable position, but after their extremely strong start to the split it must be getting to them how they’re falling behind as the split is coming to a close. They’ll need to come into this series with phenomenal attitudes as NRG can pull out a sublime amount of pressure in the earlier stages of the game, possibly pushing NRG to their limits.

I’d give Team Envy the advantage here, although both teams have had an exceedingly difficult time recently Team Envy are definitely looking like a more on form team. These teams haven’t faced off since the 1st week of the split, when Team Envy was looking like the team to beat, and a lot has changed since. I expect to see a lot of movement in the earlier stages of the game so don’t miss it!

NRG Esports NA LCS Team Logo LoLNRG Esports are going to want to work off of their early game strengths, they’ve been able to create advantageous skirmishes in the early and middle stages of the game which is how they’ve often come out on top of their victories series’. They’re going to want to build a fairly balanced composition so an Illaoi or Gnar in the top lane could give them fantastic team fighting or skirmish potential, assisted by a Gragas or Reksai which can pump out extreme amounts of pressure if played aggressively in the earlier stages of the game. The middle lane of NRG is often where pressure congregates so they’re going to need some mobility to survivability, I’d like to see more Lissandra and Ahri from them however Karma has been a previous staple for them. The NRG bottom lane should try and pick up the Sivir if they’re going to rely on that lane, falling back onto Lucian; these are likely to be paired with a Trundle or Braum, maybe even Karma, which can give them significant amounts of early game strength and utility. When they’re on the rift I think NRG should build a neutral line of vision across the river which they quickly expand as they begin looking for skirmishes. They’re going to want to have rotating lanes along with an invasive and high pressure jungling style; this will let them quickly set up for early game skirmishes where they often thrive. Those early game skirmishes could give NRG a small lead, NRG have often taken small leads and have been able to propel themselves ahead quickly with them. To achieve this they’re going to want to take their stronger champions, whoever gained the most gold from those skirmishes, and focus on pushing them into a larger lead. The NRG team members all have the potential to create immense individual amounts of pressure which could then create more skirmishes, giving NRG exactly what they want. After basic skirmishes NRG are going to want to create explosive and sudden team fights to catch their opponents out, they’ll be able to force their opponents into a reactive style in which they can then force objectives and create more favourable situations for their fighting. NRG are going to have a tough time against Team Envy but with thorough thought they can create advantageous situations and come out on top of the first game, giving them a lead in the series.

Team EnVy NA LCS Team Logo LoLTeam Envy have been having a hard time recently, they’ve been facing off against the teams that are pushing for those top positions and it’s really taking its toll on their ladder position. They should try and work their way back a few steps and evaluate this situation, getting themselves on their comfortable champions that they were able to pull off fantastic performances on could aid them a lot. Trundle could still be a strong pick for them, along with Gnar, but I’d like to see them take something more aggressive. Having an aggressive top lane champion works extremely well with a jungler that is able to apply pressure in the earlier stages of the game, this works well for Envy as they often pressure the top lane a lot in the earlier stages of the game to set themselves up; they usually hold some flexibility across their compositions so an Elise or Reksai here could be phenomenal. This jungle champion will also be focusing quite a lot on the middle lane where Envy could be picking up a Viktor or Karma, counter picking away from NRG; Ryze would also be a fairly strong choice if they’re looking to scale. The bottom lane of Team Envy has often picked up Sivir which has proven to be an extremely reliable champion recently, especially when paired with a Braum or Bard which Team Envy have also picked regularly. Once they’re ready and on the rift I think Team Envy should try and get some warding around their middle lane along with a few aggressive wards around or close to their opponent’s jungle. This will let them make quick rotations to pressure the earlier stages of the game with great success; Team Envy will want to focus some time on the top lane to get it rolling along with counter ganking the middle lane if any trouble arises. The earlier stages of this match could revolve entirely around how well the jungler is playing so there’s going to be a lot of pressure on his shoulders. Team Envy should be able to create a sizable lead by forcing some early pressure, creating small advantages and using those to take control of larger portions of the map. This map control will be extremely important as it’s how they’re going to find favourable fights that will lead to their objectives and pushes; setting them up nicely to take the game in a fairly controlled style and giving them the upper hand in the series.

Prediction: Team Envy Victory. NRG are going to be able to create huge amounts of pressure in the earlier stages of the game but I’m confident Team Envy will be able to equal it or handle it; with superior macro management they should be able to create advantageous situations using the map throughout the series and taking that series win.

Phoenix1 vs Team Liquid NA LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 7Week 7 | Day 2 – Match #4: Phoenix1 NA LCS Team Logo Phoenix1 vs. Team Liquid NA LCS Team Logo LoL Team Liquid

Start Time: July 16, 03:00 PM PDT/ 06:00 PM EDT/ 00:00 CEST

Head to head record: Phoenix1 0:1 Team Liquid

Phoenix1 have quickly been making improvements, which is extremely important as we’re reaching those final weeks, but will it be enough to take down Team Liquid? Team Liquid is in a comfortable position where they’re only losing to teams that are placed higher than them, with very few exceptions. This means Phoenix1 are going to be in trouble during this series but they’ve pulled off upsets before, like their series against Apex, and could still apply a phenomenal amount of pressure.

Prediction: Team Liquid Victory. Team Liquid are a consistent team, they’ve been able to consistently beat opponents who are placed below them on the ladder. I do think P1 are going to put up a good fight as they’ve made significant improvements but I doubt it’s enough to take this series.

NA LCS Summer Split Week 7 – Day 1:

The NA LCS has been followed closely as a lot of their players have been preparing for these coming weeks, with the playoffs closing in everyone has been doing what every they can to improve; apart from those distracted select few. Heading into day 1 we will be looking at both matches, Immortals vs. Counter Logic Gaming along with Phoenix1 vs. NRG Esports. Make sure you catch the games on Friday, July 15th!

Immortals vs Counter Logic Gaming NA LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 7Week 7 | Day 1 – Match #1: Team Immortals NA LCS Team Logo LoL Immortals vs. CLG NA LCS Team Logo LoL Counter Logic Gaming

Start Time: July 15, 03:00 PM PDT/ 06:00 PM EDT/ 00:00 CEST next day

Head to head record: Immortals 1:0 Counter Logic Gaming

Counter Logic Gaming have been looking more consistent as they’ve been more difficult to take down and have put on some extremely convincing performances. Heading out of week 6 they managed to take 2 more victories leaving them on a 6:6 score; this could be bad news heading into this series as they’ll be facing the nearly undefeated Immortals who’re sitting on an 11:1 score.

Immortals look to have quite a clear advantage here, not only because of their current standings and the fact that they have the head to head under their belt but also because of their more convincing performances, their ability to quickly adapt and their strength at outperforming opponents in the earlier stages of the game.

Immortals NA LCS Team Logo LoLImmortals will look to pick up their regular style composition with their regular champion picks. This means we’re likely to see more Zilean or Viktor in the middle lane along with Irelia in the top lane. These will be greatly assisted by a Reksai or Olaf in the jungle; the early pressure these champions can pull out is phenomenal and can bring quick destruction to their opponents. The bottom lane of Immortals has regularly swapped between Sivir and Ashe, which I expect to see more of, who are likely to be paired off with a Nami or Bard. After locking in and making basic preparations such as setting up warding they’re going to want to get some early aggression going, if they can get their jungler to focus on the top side of the map in the earlier stages of the game they should be able to get their top laner rolling; this will work as a knock on effect and create an advantage for a significant portion of the game. After they’ve had some time in the top lane they’re going to want to start pushing forward their warding and creating a large portion of the map that they can control, this will give them options to pick fights or pick off their opponents in smaller skirmishes. They’re going to want to aim to play around whatever advantages they have at the time, if they’ve got a top laner that’s ahead then they’re going to want to skirmish with him or set up some strong flanks for team fighting etc. Taking control of the map could be a slow process but they should be able to methodically take control of it and use their tempo and sheer power during the later stages of the game to work their way to victory, giving them a leg up in the series.

Counter Logic Gaming NA LCS Team Logo LoLCounter Logic Gaming will need to get some early top lane focus so setting up with a strong jungler will give them a small edge. For this they’re going to need to get something like a Reksai or Elise, something with early game potential; this will let them counter gank efficiently and get their top laner on equal footing to their opponents or even get him ahead. This will work nicely as they’ve often picked a high priority target middle lane champion such as Cassiopeia or Viktor, this will free up room and threat potential for CLG to take over team fights quickly. The bottom lane of Counter Logic Gaming is going to want to try and take hold of a Lucian or Sivir, pairing it with a Bard or Thresh as they’ve done quite often recently. Once they’ve made it onto the rift they’re going to want to build a diverse wall of vision, it’ll have to be easily adaptable as this serious could get quite hectic. They should aim to pick up some aggressive wards in the top lane along with a few neutral or defensive wards in the middle and bottom sides of the map. With aggressive warding on the top side of the map they will be able to identify their opponent’s movements and quickly react accordingly, this could let them take small advantages or create pressure on the opposite side of the map for an advantage. Counter Logic Gaming have proven time and time again that their 1-3-1 strategy based around macro management, split pushing and sporadic team fighting is extremely potent and difficult to control if they’ve got a lead. To gain a lead Counter Logic Gaming are going to want to take hold of their top lane potential and really throw it at their opponents, focusing on the top lane in the earlier stages of the game could net them a small lead and that could easily translate into more for CLG. CLG will need to work on carefully picking through their options as they’ve got great macro management but it can be countered if they’re not careful. If they work slowly they should be able to narrow down their options and work to their advantage, this will give them a significant lead which could translate to victory for them; putting up some threat for the series.

Prediction: Immortals Victory. There could be a few close scrapes but I think Immortals will come out on top in the end. They hold the head to head, have a stronger track record and have proven that their consistency is something to be reckoned with. They will be an obstacle for all teams, not just CLG.

Phoenix1 vs NRG eSports NA LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 7Week 7 | Day 1 – Match #2: Phoenix1 NA LCS Team Logo Phoenix1 vs. NRG Esports NA LCS Team Logo NRG Esports

Start Time: July 15, 06:00 PM PDT/ 09:00 PM EDT/ 03:00 CEST next day

Head to head record: Phoenix1 0:1 NRG Esports

The head to head between these 2 teams was quite recently so it plays a relevant part in this prediction. Both teams haven’t shown much improvement since however Phoenix1 did manage to take down Team Apex in what was called a ‘stroke of luck’ because of internal Apex issues. There are a lot of factors to take into account here but it’s certainly going to be quite a clash.

I’d give the advantage to Phoenix1 here, it seems surprising but with a few of their recent performances they’ve shown a true potential for possible improvements. This could set them ahead of NRG, even if just slightly, and give them exactly what they need to come out on top of this series.

Phoenix1 NA LCS Team LogoPhoenix1 are going to want to pick champions similar to what they used when facing off against CLG, it’s where they’ve had some of their stronger performances recently and how they’re likely to thrive. This means more Braum in the bottom lane paired with an Ashe or Sivir, the utility of this lane will bring great team fight potential for the later stages of the game. A Shen or Gnar in the top lane is likely as it’s what they’ve been working well with and have shown great comfort on. As for the middle lane, there has been some diversity but I expect to see some Azir showing up along with possible Karma picks. As for the jungler, the one who will be stabilising and pressuring the lanes, an Elise or Reksai will fit the composition nicely and give them a lot of early pressure but they’ve shown some serious potential on that Hecarim they’ve been bringing up. After working their way onto the rift they’re going to want to set up an aggressive line of vision that is set up closely to the entries and exits of their opponent’s jungle, NRG Esports can often create a lot of pressure in the earlier stages of the game but this comes with a risk; Phoenix1 should aim to take advantage of those risks. If Phoenix1 are aiming for an early lead it’s going to be difficult but with how NRG often play it’s also possible; Phoenix1 are going to want to play reactively for a small portion of the early stages of the game to bring down the confidence of NRG and to build a small lead for themselves, this will be done through abuse of positioning and better vision control. NRG Esports have often crumbled when unable to create an earlier lead, this doesn’t mean that their late game isn’t good, so Phoenix1 are going to want to try and get a few steps ahead of them. This will set them up to dictate the pace of the game and overcome any unforeseen obstacles, setting them ahead in the series after taking a game.

NRG Esports NA LCS Team Logo LoLNRG Esports have shown some potential for those middle and late game skirmish compositions where they catch out opponents and gain control of portions of the map with it, I expect to see lots of CC and AoE come out from them as it’s where they often find those advantages they’ll need. This means we could be looking at some contested Braum in the bottom lane along with those Sivir picks, NRG have often picked Lucian so we could be seeing more of him instead. The middle lane of NRG often picks for wave clear, AoE and some mobility; Ahri and Lissandra fit this nicely however Viktor, although less mobile, has great team fight potential. The top lane of NRG has picked Gnar extremely often so seeing it wouldn’t come as a surprise and it could work extremely well for them if they can take advantage of open aggressive jungler champions such as Nidalee and Gragas. Once they’re on the rift and ready they should set up a flurry of scattered aggressive wards in and around their opponents jungle, I’d like to see NRG push aggressively into their opponents to draw out and create pressure; they’ve shown that they can work well in high pressure situations and it could be their work around for Phoenix1. They should look to pick off their opponents to create advantageous situations, capitalising on them afterwards by sieging relentlessly and setting up objectives. If they’re able to pick off those opponents in the earlier and middle stages of the game they should be able to build sufficient vision to control portions of the map around objectives, essentially giving them exactly what they need to further exacerbate phoenix1’s situation. NRG should aim to build a quick lead and pressure for the end of the game as quickly as possible, they thrive in the earlier stages of the game and are more likely to make mistakes later on that could lose them the game, if they can take hold of an advantage they should be able to control the map and create a good setting for them to take the game; getting their foot in the door to take the series.

Prediction: Phoenix1 Victory. Phoenix1 have shown a few minor improvements recently that has really improved their impact during games. This will let them handle the earlier situations and capitalise on their ability to handle the macro game. This is how they will survive and thrive to take the series.
