Preview and Predictions:

NA LCS Summer Split Week 5 – Day 3:

After a few ‘upsets’, many outplays and a few days of already exciting games we’ll be heading into day 3 where a few extremely hyped up matches are going to be played! On day 3 I will be focusing on the Counter Logic Gaming vs. Team Solo Mid match-up which will be followed by the Immortals vs. Cloud9 series to end the day, make sure you tune into both streams as the games roll out on Sunday, July 3rd!

Counter Logic vs Team SoloMid NA LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 5Week 5 | Day 3 – Match #1: CLG NA LCS Team Logo LoL Counter Logic Gaming vs. TSM NA LCS Team Logo LoL Team SoloMid

Start Time: July 3, 12:00 PM PDT/ 03:00 PM EDT/ 21:00 CEST
Head to head record: Counter Logic Gaming 0:1 Team Solo Mid

Counter Logic Gaming have shown some phenomenal strength recently when they’ve been able to collect themselves and play games at a pace they’re comfortable with, landing phenomenal skills and taking down opponents in their way when striving for victory. Just how well will they do against a team that likes to crush the pace of games? Team Solo Mid currently sit at the top of the ladder and are still undefeated, will CLG pull off the win like they were confidently talking about?

Team Solo Mid still look to be in an advantageous position over Counter Logic Gaming; TSM may have hit a few speed bumps on their way here but they managed to maintain their undefeated status and stay at the top of the ladder, and for good reason. They’ve consistently performed extremely well and I think they’re going to give CLG one hell of a fight.

Logo of LCS NA Team CLGCounter Logic Gaming have had stronger performances when they’ve got a dominant presence in the top lane, this has assisted them in their 4 game victory streak and I’d like to see it continue with a Fiora or Jax in the top lane, falling back onto Trundle if neither of those options are available. Their bottom lane has been fairly diverse when it comes to supports however their marksman has picked Ezreal or Lucian on a regular basis which I expect to see more of, when paired with the likes of a Bard or Janna these champions can really pack a punch safely. The jungler of Counter Logic Gaming has been able to adapt to the needs of the team but the style of champions played is fairly similar, Nidalee wouldn’t be too surprising but Reksai and Elise can fill the position nicely. The middle lane of Counter Logic Gaming is one of the less predictable but with strong performances on Vladimir and Azir I’d like to see them step into this match-up. When they’re all set up and ready they’re going to want to aim to build a fairly dynamic line of vision, giving some aggressive warding on the top side of the map and spreading a few defensive wards around the bottom and middle. The aggressive warding on the top side of the map will notify their top laner of incoming trouble long before it arrives, it also works well for letting CLG’s jungler pick opportune times to gank the lane or apply pressure to the opponent’s jungler. They’re going to want to take the time to scale, they’ve got phenomenal team fighting but they shouldn’t risk the game any earlier than necessary, picking fights will be extremely important for them as their top laner could apply a significant amount of pressure before the fights even break out. If they hold down a 1-3-1 set-up for the lanes they should be able to pressure multiple points on the map and force their opponents into rotations, they can use these to open up opportunities across the map or pressure objectives. Handling CLG could be troublesome for TSM as their style can open up many opportunities but also holds a lot of options as to how they want to pressure the map and close out the game, they can take team fights in the later stages which will burst them into a strong position of they can play a patient and strategic style using split pushing and macro management. Because of these possible adaptions CLG might be able to push ahead of TSM and take a game off of them, opening up the series.

Logo of LCS NA Team TSMTeam Solo Mid are likely to aim for the Irelia pick in the top lane, it’s shown up extremely regularly for them and is a strong pick for holding back their opponents top laner. This is likely to be assisted by a Gragas or Reksai in the jungle; they’ve also got the option to pick Nidalee away from their opponents. The middle lane of Team Solo Mid has picked a variety of champions already but I think we could be seeing more Zilean and Viktor during this series. The TSM bottom lane has packed punches with oppressive lanes which I would like to see more of, so we could be looking at more Lucian or Ashe paired with Karma or Braum. This could give them multiple tools to engage or peel team fights and also supplies them with a large variety of utility. When they’re all locked in and ready I think they should set up a fairly default line of vision and adapt it to the early movements they catch from CLG, this can give them information as to how their opponents are rotating and gives them clues as to what their opponents are planning. They’ll want to focus some of their early jungle movement on the top lane, pushing their opponent out of the lane and gaining small advantages will assist them in keep that lane in an advantageous position for them, this will come in handy later in the game if CLG try and pull off a split-pushing strategy. If TSM manage to find a few early skirmishes they could snag an early gold lead but it’s likely to be pretty stale until the teams get rolling, the lead could however translate nicely into more map pressure and assisting the lanes if it’s a lead on their jungler. They’ll need to keep a close eye on the enemy top laner when the middle and later stages start to roll around, keeping him in check at all times so their opponents aren’t able to claim any uncontested objectives. If Team Solo Mid manage to keep the opposing top laner in check, throw out some jungle pressure in the earlier stages of the game and force CLG into specific rotations to stop them split-pushing they should be able to keep a controlling position which will give them advantages when picking team fights, translating into larger objectives and the ability to force their way into their opponents base. This will set them up nicely to take a win and contest the series against their rivals.

Prediction: Team Solo Mid Victory. I don’t think the team scores, or ladder, will reflect well during this game and I think Counter Logic Gaming might be able to push Team Solo Mid to a few limits. I’d like to see this series extend as CLG have made a lot of improvements and really found their style so I think this series is going to end 2:1 in favour of TSM.

Apex Gaming vs Team SoloMid NA LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 5Week 5 | Day 3 – Match #2: Apex Gaming NA LCS Team Logo LoL Apex Gaming vs. Phoenix1 NA LCS Team Logo Phoenix1

Start Time: July 3, 03:00 PM PDT/ 06:00 PM EDT/ 00:00 CEST
Head to head record: Apex Gaming 1:0 Phoenix1

Phoenix1 are yet to take a single victory and they’re not looking like a strong team at all, they’ve been having trouble when facing off against teams right at the bottom of the ladder so handling this situation against Apex, who are around the middle of the ladder, is going to be difficult. Apex have looked fairly promising, being able to take down teams that are around a similar position to them on the ladder, so I think they’re in a good position here.

Prediction: Apex Gaming Victory. Apex has been able to contest and take multiple series’ against teams that have been on an equal or slightly stronger level than them. In comparison to Phoenix1, who are yet to take a single series, Apex are looking like a favourite here and I think they’ll take the series with a 2:0.

Echo Fox vs NRG eSports NA LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 5Week 5 | Day 3 – Match #3: Echo Fox NA LCS Team Logo LoL Echo Fox vs. NRG Esports NA LCS Team Logo NRG Esports

Start Time: July 3, 12:00 PM PDT/ 03:00 PM EDT/ 21:00 CEST
Head to head record: Echo Fox 0:1 NRG Esports

NRG took a pretty rough loss against Counter Logic Gaming on day 2 of the NA LCS but they’re in a strong position than Echo Fox who have regularly been taken down without much challenge. NRG are currently sitting ahead of Echo Fox on the ladder but only by a minor amount, a single victory separates these 2 teams and Echo Fox could be looking to equalise their standings with NRG Esports.

Prediction: NRG Esports Victory. They’ve shown some pretty good performances recently even though they’ve been unable to capitalise on them, Echo Fox had shown something similar but that was only in a single game. NRG are looking like the more consistent of the 2 teams and I think they’re in a pretty good position to take this Bo3 with a 2:1 score.

Immortals vs Cloud9 NA LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 5Week 5 | Day 3 – Match #4: Team Immortals NA LCS Team Logo LoL Immortals vs. Cloud9 NA LCS Team Logo LoL Cloud9

Start Time: July 3, 03:00 PM PDT/ 06:00 PM EDT/ 00:00 CEST
Head to head record: Immortals 1:0 Cloud9

Cloud9 have had a rough time, I was confident they would be able to push ahead in their series against Team Liquid but they took a devastating loss after things quickly crumbled after the first game being a victory for them. They’re going to need to push past that loss and come into Day 3 with fresh ideas as they’ll be facing off against Immortals. Immortals have only taken a single loss so far this split and that was to the current top and undefeated TSM; they’re in a good position to put C9 under a lot of pressure here.

Immortals look to be at a fairly good advantage here, they’re ahead as far as the head to head record is concerned and they’ve only taken a single loss so far this split. They’re playing extremely well in both the micro and macro aspects of the game; this could give them early advantages over Cloud9 who’ve recently had questionable performances.

Immortals NA LCS Team Logo LoLImmortals have stuck to comfortable champions and ones they’ve been able to perform extremely well on, I don’ think this trend would have changed so we’ll likely see some more Reksai showing up for them in the jungle. This will be assisting a Ryze or Rumble in the top lane along with a Zilean or Viktor in the middle lane. The bottom lane of Immortals has regularly adapted to their opponents so we could be looking at a fairly defensive lane such as Sivir paired with a Soraka or we could see a slightly more aggressive Ezreal paired with Zyra. The bottom lane of Immortals is where the majority of their variation comes from so it’ll be interesting to see what they settle on. After they’ve set up their composition and locked in I think they should aim to build a slightly aggressive line of vision in the earlier stages of the game, it’s likely for them to come out ahead of early skirmishes and it could give them a small lead which could play a significant role in future fights. If they manage to get their top lane rolling with some early jungle pressure they should be able to spend the majority of the game focusing on other lanes or applying pressure to the opponent’s jungler, this could open up many advantages moments for them to pick fights or find skirmishes. Gaining control of the tempo of the game could be one of the more difficult things, Cloud9 have shown great ability at rotating their lanes and pressuring even when behind in gold, Immortals are going to want to deal with these adaptions as quickly as they can by pressuring a more valuable location on the map or forcing Cloud9 into fights. The extra control they can gain from skirmishing and forcing their opponents could be phenomenal, opening up sieging opportunities and favourable fights for them which will propel them into a dominating position. To begin controlling the series they’re going to want to spend a little bit of time getting their top laner comfortable, pressure their opponent’s jungler and the swap around to assisting the bottom and middle lanes. Pick off their opponent or find a few early skirmishes, which should be advantageous for them, and then start controlling the pace of the game. This will put them in a strong position to take victory in the first game and then contest the series.

Cloud9 NA LCS Team Logo LoLCloud 9 have picked Shen regularly in the top lane and although it didn’t have the strongest performance recently I think it’s still a viable option for them and would like to see it again. Falling back onto Lissandra in the top lane could also give them some valuable options as to how they can handle their opponents. The assisting jungler of Cloud9 is likely to pick up either Graves or Gragas during this series but I’d like to see them try and pick away Reksai as it’s one of Immortals’ most comfortable champions. The middle lane of Cloud9 has been fairly versatile and adapted throughout many series’ played; with a deep champion pool there’s a lot of options to consider however I think we’re likely to see some Azir and Viktor locked in for them. Cloud9’s bottom lane has had a few consistent picks that we’ll likely see against soon so an Ashe or Sivir paired with a Braum or Bard would come as no surprise. After setting up their composition and getting onto the rift I think Cloud9 will be better off with a slightly defensive line of vision, it can be easily adapted if they begin to thrive during the match but falling behind in the earlier stages is something that they’ll want to avoid; doing this will assist in keeping them safe from the jungle pressure of their opponents as well as giving them time to scale and work on building some tempo through their own jungle and lane pressure. I think Cloud9 should avoid the skirmishes in the earlier stages of the game unless they’re the initiators and have found an advantageous fight; risking giving away early gold to their opponents isn’t worth it if they can play a slower style and come out ahead anyway. For them to gain a lead they’re going to want to pressure the lanes and try and build some tempo, rotating their duo lane around the map to pressure and siege multiple lanes should give them a few good opportunities to fight and take the lead they’ll be looking for. With the lead they’ll be able to adapt their previously defensive vision into a more aggressive set-up so they can pressure larger portions of the map along with objectives, this could open up the game for them and give them the advantages they need to pressure and siege the base of Immortals. This is how I can see them coming out on top of a game against Immortals and beginning to contest this series.

Prediction: Immortals Victory. Cloud9 looked exceedingly rough against Team Liquid, who is on a fairly equal level to them, and it came as quite a surprise that they were taken down so easily. Because of this I think they’re going to have an extremely difficult time against Immortals and I think IMT will walk away with a 2:0 victory.

NA LCS Summer Split Week 5 – Day 2:

There’s been quite a lot of excitement already in the NA LCS week 5 even though only 2 series’ have been played! We’ll be heading into day 2 with 4 series’ being played and we’ll be focusing on 2 of them with the remaining games being concluded in their own smaller sections! We’ll be focusing on Counter Logic Gaming vs. NRG Esports quickly followed by Immortals vs. Apex Gaming! Make sure you tune into both streams as the games start rolling out on Saturday, July 2nd!

NRG Esports vs Counter Logic Gaming NA LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 5Week 5 | Day 2 – Match #1: NRG Esports NA LCS Team Logo NRG Esports vs. CLG NA LCS Team Logo LoL Counter Logic Gaming

Start Time: July 2, 12:00 PM PDT/ 03:00 PM EDT/ 21:00 CEST

Counter Logic Gaming and NRG Esports are sitting fairly close on the ladder which is surprising considering the performances they’ve put on; only 1 series victory separates these 2 teams and pushes CLG just slightly ahead. NRG have the opportunity to equalise the standings of these 2 teams and that could throw CLG into a bad position as we head into the second half of the summer split!

I think Counter Logic Gaming is at a bit of an advantage here, they’ve got a few niche picks available to them which will give their top laner a bit of an advantage and that can lead to an extremely potent advantage for CLG. They’ve also shown that they can adapt quickly and capitalise on their macro management. I think their macro management will be their biggest advantage coming into this series.

Logo of LCS NA Team CLGCounter Logic Gaming are likely to show some Azir during this series, it’s been picked extremely regularly by them and there’s good reason for it. Azir on CLG has been able to consistently impact games and give CLG both utility and great damage when team fights come around. The bottom lane of CLG has regularly swapped around their champion picks but I’d like to see more Ezreal from them, pairing it with a Braum or Nami. Their jungler has recently had a few strong performances on Elise whom I would like to see more of but if they’re not looking to pick that champion up then a Gragas could assist in impacting the earlier stages of the game and controlling the later stages. The top lane of CLG is an extremely important lane, they’ve got a surplus of available champions for that lane but I’d like to see more Fiora and Trundle from them; Jax is also another strong option. When they’re ready and on the rift I think they should set up a fairly defensive line of vision at the start of the game which they can slowly and safely adapt as they advance through the game. CLG are often able to thrive in the later stages of the game because of their phenomenal shot-calling and their macro management, opening up opportunities for their top laner. Starting off with vision close to their lanes and around their own jungle entrances should keep them safe for a good portion of the game but when we reach the middle and later stages they’re going to need to have adapted to their opponents and force some of their wards forwards, giving them the information they will need to rotate or pick fights. To gain a lead they’re going to want to scale until the middle stages of the game and set up a split push, this will give them opportunities to start skirmishes where they’ll be able to pressure multiple points of the map and open up many more opportunities. If they do this strategy confidently they should be able to pull their opponent’s attention across the map and opening up free objectives to claim a gold lead. This strategy should be fairly safe in the earlier stages but can quickly become volatile, giving them a quick and dominating gold lead which could lead them to their first victory of the series and opening it up for them to takes.

NRG Esports NA LCS Team Logo LoLNRG Esports have shown a preference for Trundle in the top lane, this could fair as a strong pick for them in this match-up as Trundle is innately tanky and can be extremely disruptive; getting in the way of their opponent’s plans. This is likely to open up a contested pick along with a second contested pick in the jungle as Elise has been picked fairly regularly by NRG; if NRG can’t get a hold of Elise then I think they’ll fall back onto Reksai or Gragas. The middle lane of NRG Esports has shown comfort on Viktor, which I think will show up during this series; however I’d like to see more Anivia from them because of its potential in the later stages and its ability to stall out games. The duo lane of NRG has been very adaptable but has picked Braum as their support fairly regularly, unless they’re looking to go aggressive then I’d expect him to show up more during this series but if they’re adapting their style we could see more Zyra or Karma paired with Twitch or Caitlyn. After they’re locked in and ready I think NRG will be in a good position in the earlier stages of the game, they should be able to take advantage of their early strengths by taking skirmishes, this will be easier to accomplish with a slightly aggressive line of vision and by trying to force a few wards into their opponents jungle. They’re going to want to utilize their skirmishes in the earlier stages and try and pick up a few kills through jungle pressure or picking off their opponents, this can influence the lanes and the map control fairly quickly. If they find a few skirmishes in the earlier stages of the game they’re going to want to expand it quickly so CLG are stuck for choices, they can do this by pushing their vision forward and regularly controlling objectives; picking up fights in an eruptive manner. If they’re unable to close the game out in the middle stages they’re going to need to keep the top laner of CLG in check during the later stages, strong wave clear and controlling actions should halt CLG’s attempts at managing the later stages of the game. NRG should be able to find an early lead if they’re hunting for 1 and this will set them up nicely to start controlling a game, things will get rocky if their macro management or shot-calling is put to the test but with some strategic play they should be able to come out on top and start contesting the series.

Prediction: Counter Logic Gaming Victory. I think CLG might have a bit of a harder time in this series than they’d like, NRG have shown great early game strengths previously which is one of the weaker points of CLG at the moment. That’s why I think this series is going to end in a 2:1 but with CLG coming out on top due to their superior control in the later stages of their games.

Immortals vs Apex Gaming NA LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 5Week 5 | Day 2 – Match #2: Team Immortals NA LCS Team Logo LoL Immortals vs. Apex Gaming NA LCS Team Logo LoL Apex Gaming

Start Time: July 2, 03:00 PM PDT/ 06:00 PM EDT/ 00:00 CEST

Immortals are currently a top contender during the summer split and have only taken a single series loss so far, they’ve been able to hold out against every other team this split and overcome them with only a single exception. Apex Gaming has definitely made improvements since the start of the split but is it really enough to take down a 7:1 team?

Immortals look to be at quite a clear advantage here, they’re 7:1 on the ladder in comparison to the 4:4 of Apex and they’ve also shown a significant ability to adapt to their opponents. Immortals can adapt to a defensive play style, an aggressive play style and also a very strategy oriented patient play style. These different styles give them a big advantage over Apex who is still trying to figure a few things out.

Immortals NA LCS Team Logo LoLImmortals still have a pretty significant preference for Reksai in the jungle, it’s a pretty well-known pick for their jungle so it’s possible it’ll be banned; If it’s banned then I expect them to fall back onto Elise as their jungler. The Immortals top laner has shown great potential on Lissandra which I would like to see more of but with how deep their champion pools are proving to be it could also be a Rumble or a more Meta champion like Trundle or Jax. The bottom lane of Immortals gas picked Ezreal on a very regular basis and I think it’s a pretty confident pick from them so I expect it to continue showing up for them, being paired with a Zyra or Karma for a potentially oppressive lane. The Immortals middle laner has swapped around his champion picks fairly often but I think they’re likely to swap between Viktor and Azir as they’ll be lacking wave-clear and potent team fighting control. After they’ve locked in their preferred champions and have made it onto the rift I think they should try and set up an aggressive line of vision in and around their opponent’s jungle as soon as they can. This will let them know about their opponents rotations along with the knowledge of where the opponent’s jungler is; this gives them opportunities to pick fights or rotate accordingly to their opponents movements. This will also let them pick off their opponents and open up more important opportunities, such as pushing the base of their opponents or taking the larger objectives on the map. I think a large portion of this series could be focusing on skirmishes and trying to get an early lead over their opponents, it’s a fairly advantageous strategy for them because even if things go badly and they fall behind they’ve already proven that they can play from behind and still come out on top. If they aim to get a few early game skirmishes they should be able to take a small lead and translate that into controlling the map to take a significant lead and opening up the base of their opponents, giving them a lead during the game and setting them up to lead the series.

Apex Gaming NA LCS Team Logo LoLApex has shown a preference for Braum in the bottom lane which is likely to be paired with an Ezreal, contesting that pick away from Immortals along with Reksai in the jungle as their jungler has shown a great preference for that champion. The top lane of Apex has had a few confidence picks recently and they’ve worked out nicely, I’d definitely like to see more Jax and Fiora show up for them. The middle lane of Apex has been extremely diverse but Zilean could give them a lot of utility for the later stages of the game, if they don’t settle with a Zilean then I think we could be seeing more Vladimir or even Azir in the middle lane for them. During the match they’re going to want to set up a defensive line of vision during the earlier stages of the game and eventually push it forward as they being to scale, they should be able to open up some fairly strong rotations and if they can push for a tempo lead then they’ll be in a very controlling position. If they can hold out until the middle and later stages of the game they should be able to pick some advantageous fights or take a few skirmishes through reactive. Picking off opponents or taking strong team fight engages is their most likely strategy to come out on top in the middle and later stages of the game but it’s going to come as quite a challenge because Immortals could be looking to take control of these games during fairly early stages, Apex are going to need to avoid this and only settle on fights that they’re picking. This will be putting them in a strong position to contest matches and possible come out on top of the series but only if they avoid mistakes and find those few advantageous fights.

Prediction: Immortals Victory. Immortals are in a very advantageous position here; they’re significantly ahead of Apex on the ladder and have shown a great mastery of this Meta. They’ve been able to adapt to their opponents fairly quickly which could just lead to a quicker victory for them.

Phoenix1 vs Team SoloMid NA LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 5Week 5 | Day 2 – Match #3: Phoenix1 NA LCS Team Logo Phoenix1 vs. TSM NA LCS Team Logo LoL Team SoloMid

Start Time: July 2, 12:00 PM PDT/ 03:00 PM EDT/ 21:00 CEST

Phoenix1 are yet to take a series and are on the complete opposite side of the ladder in comparison to Team Solo Mid. Team Solo Mid have come out on top of every single one of the series’ they’ve participated in and are currently an undefeated titan in the NA LCS. Phoenix1 are going to have a hard time ahead of them as we start to head into the second half of the summer split.

Prediction: Team Solo Mid Victory. With how rough they’ve looked recently there could be a few surprising moments during the series but I’m confident TSM will come out on top and I think they’re in a good enough position to take the series 2:0.

Team Liquid vs Team Envy NA LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 5Week 5 | Day 2 – Match #4: Team Liquid NA LCS Team Logo LoL Team Liquid vs. Team Envy NA LCS Logo Team EnVy

Start Time: July 2, 03:00 PM PDT/ 06:00 PM EDT/ 00:00 CEST

Team Liquid hit a few hard patches during day 1 but they’ve shown that they can hold their own against teams ahead of them, this will come in handy as they’ll be facing off against Team Envy who are ahead of them on the ladder. Team Envy have had an extremely hard time recently but could be on a new rise as we head into their 2nd head to head games; giving them opportunities to once again prove themselves.

Prediction: Team Envy Victory. I don’t think it’ll be the cleanest series for them as Team Liquid are definitely making improvements and are proving to be quite a challenge but I think they’re capable of coming out on top of this series and taking another step forwards as we get closer to the summer playoffs.

NA LCS Summer Split Week 5 – Day 1:

We’ll be kicking off Week 5 of the NA LCS with a few exciting matches, we’ll be taking a look at Cloud9 vs. Team Liquid, which is my favourite of the day, along with Echo Fox vs. Team Envy. Week 5 marks the half-way point for the split so when teams going against repeated opponents we’ll be adding the head to head counter! This will be taken into account when evaluating the team’s strengths and applied to the predictions! Make sure you tune in on Friday, July 1st, to catch the games live!

Cloud9 vs Team Liquid NA LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 5Week 5 | Day 1 – Match #1: Cloud9 NA LCS Team Logo LoL Cloud9 vs. Team Liquid NA LCS Team Logo LoL Team Liquid

Start Time: July 1, 05:00 PM PDT/ 08:00 PM EDT/ 02:00 CET next day

Cloud9 are in a fairly good position on the ladder and are looking like top contenders this split, after a bit of a rough start they’ve managed to gain a very position 6:2 score and are looking to maintain their position on the ladder for when the Summer Playoffs come around. Team Liquid on the other hand are sitting on a 4:4 score, although it’s not bad it really does reflect the difference in the skill shown by these teams so far.

I’d give Cloud9 the advantage here, they’ve proven to be a difficult team to take down during a series and have often been able to come out on top even when things looked rough for them. They’ve shown that they are highly adaptable and have been able to contest series’ against the current top teams.

Cloud9 NA LCS Team Logo LoLCloud9 have often picked up Lissandra in the top lane, which can be utilized in multiple ways to start engages or skirmishes. It’s worked extremely well when paired with jungler champions such as Reksai or Elise. Their middle laner has shown great skill on Cassiopeia which I would like to see more of however they could contest the LeBlanc pick from Team Liquid if they feel the need to. The bottom lane of Cloud9 should contest the Ashe pick that has proven to be so comfortable for TL and pair it with a Braum or Nami, giving them great utility in the later stages of the game. When they’re set up and comfortable with their champions I think they should set up a line of vision that can be easily adapted, a few pieces of aggressive warding on the bottom side of the map could give them early objective control but it could come with a risk to their top lane. When they’re focusing on the bottom side of the map they should try and get some deep wards in their opponents jungle to give them information on just how safe they are to engage or skirmish there; this will be contrasted by the top side of the map where they should get some defensive or default vision to give their top laner room to farm and scale. They should be able to find a few favourable skirmishes in the earlier stages of the game which could give them a very controlling position on the map. This small lead could translate into a much larger and propelling lead or advantage if they start catching out their opponents around objective rotations, picking small skirmishes or engaging in large scale fights. With a lead they’ll be able to force their advantages onto the base of their opponents, systematically breaking it down and working their way to the opponent’s nexus. Playing fairly calculated, I think Cloud 9 could take a fairly early advantage which will set them up nicely to begin controlling the game and give them a lead during the series.

Team Liquid - NA LCS Team LogoTeam Liquid have picked Ashe at every opportunity recently so I expect it to make a few appearances throughout this series, when paired with a Nami or Karma it can pose to be a very dominating champion and gives them a very oppressive lane. Team Liquid are likely to aim for a Trundle in the top lane but I’d like to see them utilize the Shen pick that they’d previously shown. They’ve picked 2 champions in the jungle fairly consistently so we could be looking at more Nidalee or Olaf from them, both of which can apply a significant amount of pressure in the earlier stages of the game. The middle lane of Team Liquid has picked aggressive champions fairly often so we could see LeBlanc make another appearance however I’d like to see more Viktor from them or even some Vladimir. Once the champion select has concluded and they’re locked in I think they should aim for an adaptable line of vision which can be easily moved or rotated, they’re going to want to keep their lanes as safe as possible whilst opening up opportunities to skirmish in the earlier stages of the game. They should aim to get some vision around the entrances of their opponent’s jungle along with scattering wards throughout the river and close to their lanes. They’re likely to need to spend some time applying jungle pressure to the top lane, this will give them room to adapt the map in their favour as their top lane is likely to have a hard time with his match-up. Team Liquid should be able to pick fights whenever they’re feeling confident, they have a lot of team utility and engaging tools which can catch out their opponents and net them free leads of they can work on playing a more slow and calculated style. Finding a lead in the earlier stages of the game might be difficult for them but once their champions get a few levels and items the middle stages of the game will roll around where I think Team Liquid could thrive. If they’re able to take a few of those early skirmishes they will open up a significant amount of options, they’ll be able to quickly adapt their vision to suit their opponents style and composition and this will essentially give Team Liquid everything they need to start controlling the game, giving them a lead in the series.

Prediction: Cloud9 Victory. I think Cloud9 can come out on top of this series, they’ve proven to be a more dominant and adaptable team than Team Liquid and this could play a huge part in them taking away the series. Cloud9 have shown formidable ability in controlling games which I think is how they’re going to take away this series, through calculation and control.

Echo Fox vs Team Envy NA LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 5Week 5 | Day 1 – Match #2: Echo Fox NA LCS Team Logo LoL Echo Fox vs. Team Envy NA LCS Logo Team EnVy

Start Time: July 1, 08:00 PM PDT/ 11:00 PM EDT/ 05:00 CET next day

Echo Fox had shown improvement when they held TSM in an uncomfortable position and contest the series against them however that appears to have been a strike of luck from them. Echo Fox have been having an extremely difficult time this split and they’re sitting right by the bottom of the ladder whereas Team Envy have been contesting series’ against the current top teams in the NA LCS.

Team Envy is at a definite advantage here and it looks like it’s a fairly big one. Echo Fox have had trouble in every single encounter they’ve had; it’s been like that since their formation other than a short period where they were performing quite well. Team Envy on the other hand really managed to bring some new strength to the NA LCS and have proven to be quite a difficult team to overcome, even for the top teams.

Echo Fox NA LCS Team Logo LoLEcho Fox are going to want to try and get their most comfortable champions; this means we could be seeing more Cassiopeia in the middle lane but Anivia could make an appearance for them to help them stall out the game. Their jungle has had a slight preference for Olaf which can apply vast amounts of pressure in the earlier stages of the game as well as giving them team fighting options in the later stages. The top lane of Echo Fox should aim to pick up Irelia or Jax to give them split pushing pressure however I’d also like to see them implement Swain at some point. The bottom lane of Echo Fox has regularly picked Jhin so it would come as no surprise to see it more, when paired with a Nami or Zyra it can be an extremely difficult champion to deal with. Echo Fox should aim to build a reliable defensive line of vision across the river and around the lanes, this will help them avoid any unwanted conflicts and stall out the game to the points where they are at their best and most comfortable. I think there will be a top lane focus in the earlier stages of the game so counter ganking is going to need to be prepared. They should avoid any unwanted confrontation and try and work their way into the later stages of the game where they’re most likely to thrive, this is where their chances at taking a win are at their greatest. If they get caught or force into early skirmishes then grouping quickly could give them exactly what they need to balance it out or even take a small lead however I don’t expect to see much action in the earlier stages of the game. If focus heavily on their scaling, avoiding early skirmishes and fighting and just focus on their own gold instead of making comparison with their opponents I think they’ll be able to keep their defensive line of vision for an extended amount of time, giving them opportunities to scale and get comfortable, this is their best option for contest the games along with the series.

Team EnVy NA LCS Team Logo LoLTeam Envy have shown a few of their preferred champions and regular picks, we could be seeing some Trundle or Swain in the top lane from them as they’ve been fairly consistent picks which could be paired with a Reksai or Graves in the jungle; I’d like to see them utilize the large pool of viable jungle champions though. Their middle lane has brought out a few niche picks which I don’t think were very effective but they’ve got the ability to pick away the favoured champions from Echo Fox, we could be seeing some Cassiopeia in the middle lane for Team Envy or maybe some more Varus. The bottom lane of Team Envy has picked Lucian on an extremely regular basis and I expect it to make more appearances throughout this series, being paired with a Braum or Nami could give them fantastic skirmish potential during the laning phase and earlier stages of the game. After champions select and making it onto the rift I think they’re going to want to set up an aggressive line of vision by getting some deep wards placed in their opponents jungle, this will let them take early skirmishes and throw off any attempts Echo Fox make at stalling out the game or scaling their champions. If they can create pressure around the map and force their opponents into situations where they have to fight I think Team Envy will be able to come out on top with a fairly large lead. They’re going to want to get a lot of vision around objectives during the middle stages of the game so they can abuse this vision advantage and try and take favourable fights against their opponents, this will open up opportunities for them to push the lanes and break their opponents base. I think Team Envy are going to need to siege when every they’re in a dominant position because Echo Fox can make it extremely difficult to get into their base if they’re give the time to scale. Picking fights regularly is how I think Team Envy will come out on top of their matches against Echo Fox and will begin contending the series.

Prediction: Team Envy Victory. They’re in a significantly stronger position than Echo Fox, both on the ladder and in their apparent skill. Team Envy has already proven that they’re above average and are able to contest games against the top NA teams. This is the opposite of Echo Fox who have a difficult time making their way up the first steps of the ladder.
