ROCCAT vs H2K Gaming EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 5Week 5 | Day 2 – Match #1: ROCCAT EU LCS Team Logo LoL ROCCAT vs. H2K Gaming EU LCS Team Logo LoL H2K Gaming

Start Time: July 1, 08:00 AM PDT/ 11:00 AM EDT/ 17:00 CEST
Head to head record: Tied Series.

Roccat took quite a hard hit on Day 1 when they lost their series to Giants, not managing to tie the series was quite a surprise as Roccat had shown great ability to adapt throughout a series and this often led to them tying games where the skill of the teams was close to equal. H2k still look fairly rough but they’re staying on a fairly equal level and at this point in the split it could keep them in a good position.

I think H2k are at a pretty good advantage here, Roccat recently lost their series to Giants which could be quite a big hit to their morale coming into day 2 and H2k were able to come out of their series against Origen with a tie. Roccat have previously shown that they can pack a punch but if they’re not playing up to expectations then this could be a hand over.

ROCCAT EU LCS Team Logo LoLRoccat have shown a preference for Gragas in the jungle, which can be extremely effective if utilized properly throughout the many stages of the game. When they pair a jungler that can apply early pressure with a top laner such as Ekko or Lissandra they can open up their options throughout the game, allowing them to team fight or picking off opponents in skirmishes. The middle lane of Roccat hasn’t found much success lately but an Azir or Swain could help bring their composition together nicely. The bottom lane of Roccat has regularly picked Bard so I wouldn’t be surprised to see it more often along with a Lucian or Caitlyn as their marksman. Roccat are going to want to try and set up a fairly default line of vision, they don’t want to give away any early advantages and if they can apply pressure in the top lane with some minor aggressive warding they should be able to gain an advantage on the top side of the map; opening up opportunities for them to take a lead and gain some control over the game. They’ve previously shown that if they can come into a lead they can make the game difficult for their opponents but this is going to be a challenge, I think they should focus on getting their top lane ahead which will assist them in both skirmishes and team fighting; once their top laner is ahead they should be able to utilize that lead with skirmishes or rotations around the map to catch out their opponents or to quickly take objectives, putting them in a strong and controlling position. If they manage to take the early stages of the game slowly they should be able to slowly apply pressure and gain a tempo advantage using their jungler, this will open up a lot of opportunities for them and will let them explore their strategies; it could set them up for a nicely lead and can help them gain control of the first game, giving them an advantage in the series.

H2K Gaming EU LCS Team Logo LoLH2k have found some success recently but it came after losing multiple matches in a row, they picked up Shen in the top lane and made fairly good use of it. I’d like to see them pick up that champion once again; they should be falling back onto Gnar if they can’t snag it. Their jungler has often picked Elise and it’d be no surprise to see more of it, Olaf is also a very good option for them because of the early strengths that champion has. Their middle lane has picked Viktor fairly regularly which I think is a comfortable choice along with Azir, it gives them a good amount of wave clear along with some great utility in teams fights and skirmishes. The bottom lane of H2k has shown favour for Nami as their support and if we’ve learned anything from their recent games it’s their preference for Ezreal as a marksman, which is a fairly safe choice. I think H2k will benefit throughout this series if they try and get some aggressive wards on the map, it will give them opportunities to skirmish in the earlier and middle stages of the game which will play pivotal parts in these games. If they get aggressive warding on the bottom side of the map they should be able to apply a significant amount of pressure there, opening up possible leads along with a few early objectives. If they can maintain constant pressure around the map they should be able to get their opponents in a state where they begin to fall behind simply because they can’t keep up; this will give them great opportunities to capitalise and pick fights which will be in their favour. If they take a hold of given opportunities they should be able to take and maintain a lead which will open up the game for them to take. I think this could be a series where they can stand out and show what they’ve learned and improved throughout the split as long as they’re able to play confidently and strategically. Controlling tempo and rotations along with having some aggressive warding to capitalise on their opponents positioning could be a fantastic way for them to contest the games against Roccat along with opening up the series for H2k.

Prediction: H2k Victory. I think they’ll be able to come out on top of this series, Roccat are looking a bit rough after taking their loss against Giants and H2k are maintaining a ‘middle of the pack’ average skill level. They should be able to gain control in the earlier stages of the games and control the map until the series is in their hands.

Vitality vs Splyce EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 5Week 5 | Day 2 – Match #2: Vitality EU LCS Team Logo LoL Vitality vs. Splyce EU LCS Team Logo LoL Splyce

Start Time: July 1, 10:00 AM PDT/ 01:00 PM EDT/ 19:00 CEST
Head to head record: Tied Series.

Both of these competing teams were able to tie their series’ on day 1 however this is more of an achievement for Team Vitality than it is for Splyce. Splyce fell to the Unicorns of Love who only previously has a single victory under their belts, opening up a few of Splyce’s weaknesses. Team Vitality faced off against FC Schalke 04 and managed to tie against a team that’s looked stronger than them on more than 1 occasion, showing slight improvement from them.

I think Team Vitality is at a pretty good advantage here however they’ve been having an extremely difficult time taking victories of ties. They’ve tied 6 of their 9 played matches which is the most in the EU LCS and it brings into question their ability to adapt during a series to come out on top of their opponents, this could be worrying as Splyce are still fairly formidable.

Vitality - EU LCS team LogoTeam Vitality are going to want to recreate the compositions that have worked so well for them recently, this means trying to pick up more Irelia and Trundle in the top lane along with some Elise or Nidalee in the jungle, the early pressure that can be applied by these jungle champions could give the VIT laners fairly good advantages. Team Vitality has shown a great preference for Braum as their support however their marksman choices are vast as they’re changing their picks regularly. I’d like to see them pick up some more Jhin or Ashe in the bottom lane. When they’re locked in and ready I think they should set up a fairly default line of vision, maintaining it throughout the river and close to their lanes. They can get some aggressive wards down because of the early strength of their jungler bit it will come at a risk. They’re going to want to utilize the potential of their jungle picks and apply as much early lane pressure as possible, it can set up their lanes nicely to gain a lead or give them small advantages. If they can take a hold of their early potential they should be able to zone out areas on the map and pick skirmishes in these locations when their opponents attempt to rotate, controlling objectives and having extremely skirmishing in the earlier stages of the game will be a great way for them to gain a lead and begin controlling the game. If they’re having a difficult time making those skirmishes happen then their jungler should focus on apply pressure to the opponents jungler or pressure the top lane, this will still give them a lot of options which they can utilize in the later stages of the game. They should be able to find a lot of engages in the middle and later stages of the game and these engages should be favourable for them, if they manage to catch out their opponents or choose their engages around cool-downs they’ll be set up nicely to take the game and begin contesting the series.

Splyce EU LCS Team Logo LoLSplyce has picked Gnar as their top lane champion on an extremely regular basis and with their comfort on a jungle champion such as Nidalee will let them contest a few picks from VIT and possibly throw off their composition. This will also give them good early game potential but they have the option to fall back onto Reksai if the Nidalee isn’t available. Their middle lane has had a few good performances recently on champions such as Azir and Vladimir which I would like to see them utilize more. The bottom lane of Splyce can contest the Braum pick from VIT but has quite a few options, falling back onto Thresh could still give them a very rewarding lane and great utility in the later stages of the game. This is likely to be paired with a Lucian or Ezreal as their marksman, both of which are fairly strong in the middle stages of their game because of potential item spikes. Splyce should aim to get a fairly default line of vision but one that they can easily adapt once VIT have shown how they’ll be playing the game, they should aim to get a few slightly aggressive wards placed near the entrances to their opponents jungle so they can gain necessary information to either pick of avoid conflicts; If they manage to gain a lead. Skirmishing in the earlier stages is definitely a way for them to gain a lead but it’ll be a challenge to do against Team Vitality as they’ll have a few strengths to use in the earlier stages of the game. If they can gain control of a few areas of the map they will be able to pick advantageous fights or catch out their opponents when they’re rotating, this will require constant and deep vision that’s refreshed regularly but with how patiently they should be able to play it shouldn’t be much of a problem. They should be able to slowly translate any early advantages into map pressure which will help them pick and maintain valuable fights, which could propel them forward in terms of both gold and taking the series.

Prediction: Tied Victory. I think both teams are going to be able to take away a game here, Splyce did look fairly rough during their day 1 performance but now things are getting series and there’s no time to waste. They’ll be coming into this series strong along with Team Vitality and I think both teams will end with a single game win and a tied series.

Giants vs Fnatic EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 5Week 5 | Day 2 – Match #3: Giants EU LCS Team Logo LoL Giants vs. Fnatic EU LCS Team Logo LoL Fnatic

Start Time: July 1, 12:00 PM PDT/ 03:00 PM EDT/ 21:00 CEST
Head to head record: Giants 0:1 Fnatic

Fnatic have managed to hold and maintain a strong position on the ladder whereas Giants are in a more difficult position, Giants were able to make a stand on day 1 however which gave them their 3rd victory of the split. Fnatic are in a formidable position and have proven to be a difficult team to overcome for all of the other competing teams this split, it’s going to be no different for Giants.

Prediction: Fnatic Victory. Fnatic have proven to be the more qualified and skilled of these 2 teams, I think they’ll be able to come out on top of this series with a few convincing victories. Fnatic have only take a single loss so far this split and that was on day 1, I don’t expect it to happen again any time soon.

EU LCS Studio (Live Stream: EULCS2)

Unicorns of Love vs FC Schalke 04 EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 5Week 5 | Day 2 – Match #4: Unicorns of Love EU LCS Team Logo LoL  Unicorns of Love vs. FC Schalke 04 EU LCS Team Logo FC Schalke 04

Start Time: July 1, 08:00 AM PDT/ 11:00 AM EDT/ 17:00 CEST
Head to head record: Unicorns of Love 0:1 FC Schalke 04

FC Schalke 04 has looked fairly competitive throughout the summer split whereas Unicorns of Love have often fallen short. S04 were able to tie their series against Vitality which is pretty good for them, it kept them in a good position on the ladder however Unicorns of Love are slowly beginning a rise as they were able to tie their series against Splyce and are looking to climb this half of the split.

Prediction: FC Schalke 04 Victory. I think S04 can come out on top of this series with a victory instead of just a tie, they’ve proven to be the stronger of the 2 teams and they don’t often choke. They’ve shown great control during a lot of their games and I think it’s going to give them the advantages they need to take the series.

G2 Esports vs Origen EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 5Week 5 | Day 2 – Match #5: G2 Esports EU LCS Team Logo LoL G2 Esports vs. Origen EU LCS Team Logo LoL Origen

Start Time: July 1, 10:00 AM PDT/ 01:00 PM EDT/ 19:00 CEST
Head to head record: G2 Esports 1:0 Origen

Origen’s consistency is slowly improving and they’re managing to work well as a team but even being able to ‘work well’ might not be a saving grace for them in their series against G2 Esports. G2 managed to come out on top of Fnatic during day 1 with another series victory which is fantastic for them as Fnatic were the next contenders for the top place. Origen is going to have a hard time here but surprises are possible.

Prediction: G2 Esports Victory. Origen is going to be tested and challenged here, they were unable to break even during their first series this split when facing off against G2 and I think this series is going to reflect similar performances.

EU LCS Summer Split Week 5 – Day 1:

After day 1 we’ll be hitting the head to head mark where teams have gained experience playing against their opponents previously in the split, once we hit the second day we’ll add head to head counters for each match. For day 1 we’ll be focusing on 2 of the games being played throughout the day whilst concluded the remaining games. I’ll be focusing on H2k vs. Origen along with Fnatic vs. G2 Esports. Make sure you tune into the games on both streams on Thursday, June 30th!

Splyce vs Unicorns of Love EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 5Week 5 | Day 1 – Match #1: Splyce EU LCS Team Logo LoL Splyce vs. Unicorns of Love EU LCS Team Logo LoL  Unicorns of Love

Start Time: June 30, 08:00 AM PDT/ 11:00 AM EDT/ 17:00 CEST

Splyce had a fairly average week where they managed to come out of both of their series’ with ties. In comparison to Unicorns of Love they must be fairly disappointed because UoL managed to tie their series with Roccat along with coming out on top of H2k which is a huge step up for them. Unicorns of Love have started to show some real improvement whilst Splyce have been lacking in improvements but holding their own. This could certainly make for an exciting series.

Prediction: Tied Victory. Unicorns of Love have the potential to contest this series, especially with how their performances have improved however Splyce have been consistent

Vitality vs FC Schalke 04 EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 5Week 5 | Day 1 – Match #2: Vitality EU LCS Team Logo LoL Vitality vs. FC Schalke 04 EU LCS Team Logo FC Schalke 04

Start Time: June 30, 10:00 AM PDT/ 01:00 PM EDT/ 19:00 CEST

Team Vitality look to be performing quite well, they may have only taken a single victory so far but their 5 ties have proven that they can stand their ground against a lot of the other competing teams. FC Schalke 04 however has 3 victories along with 3 ties under their belt, all while holding the same amount of losses as VIT. S04 look like the stronger team here but Team Vitality have shown a formidable amount of consistency which could bring this series crashing down.

Prediction: FC Schalke 04 Victory. Both teams are on fairly equal footing here but S04 are pulling ahead, they have more victories along with stronger performances. I think they’ll pull ahead early in the series and control the games to their victory.

Fnatic vs G2 Esports EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 5Week 5 | Day 1 – Match #3: Fnatic EU LCS Team Logo LoL Fnatic vs. G2 Esports EU LCS Team Logo LoL G2 Esports

Start Time: June 30, 12:00 PM PDT/ 03:00 PM EDT/ 21:00 CEST

Fnatic are in an extremely strong position after week 4, they’re sitting with more wins under their belt than their opponents here however they’ve also taken a loss whereas G2 are still yet to drop a single full series. G2 Esports ran into a bit of trouble in their series against S04 but Fnatic being tied up by Origen was much bigger and much more surprising news. This game could be a free for all with many large impact fights so make sure you keep your eyes peeled.

G2 Esports get my vote for the team at an advantage here, even though I’d consider it to be a fairly small advantage. On game day G2 could run into a bit of trouble but they’ve proven themselves to be an experienced and adaptable team, that’s why they’re yet to take a loss. I expect them to maintain strength and keep their losses at a 0, even if this doesn’t end how they want it to.

Fnatic Team Logo LoLFnatic have shown great use of a Trundle in the top lane but always have other viable picks to fall back on, they’ve shown great use of both Gnar and Shen which I would like to make appearances throughout this series. Their jungler has shown some diversity in champion picks but with how dominating they have shown their jungle Olaf to be I would very much like it to rule the rift during this series. This will work nicely with the middle lane options of Fnatic because they’ve regularly picked Azir along with other control mages or Vladimir; this helps them build a fairly well rounded team composition. The Fnatic bottom lane have fairly common and regularly champions that they’re comfortable on, it’d come as no surprise to see an Ezreal marksman show up for them, falling back onto Ashe if it’s not available, and pairing it with a Nami or Karma. When everything’s all locked in and ready I think they should set up a fairly default line of vision with both defensive and aggressive warding to cover the map. They have the potential to dominate the earlier stages of the game if they’re able to propel their oppressive middle and bottom lanes into an advantage but if they can’t find the openings they can always rely on their phenomenal team fighting. If they can find skirmishes then they should take advantage of them because of their early champion’s strengths. If they’re looking for early skirmishes they’ll need to adapt their vision accordingly as to not be caught out by the fast and furious rotations of G2, if they’re caught out they might be able to turn things around but it’s not worth the risk. Trying to use their champions to their full potential in the earlier stages of the game could give them an early lead but they’ll always be able to play the patient and slow game, waiting for opportunities to strike and creating openings to take map control. This is how I think Fnatic can come out on top of matches along with being able to threaten the series.

G2 Esports - EU LCS team LogoG2 Esports have had a bit of a harder time closing out their series’ recently which has ended up in their giving away a lot of ties; this can be upsetting as they’ve already shown they have the potential to be the top European team. They’re going to want to build a comfortable composition so we could be seeing more Fizz or Irelia in the top lane from them which will be assisted by a Reksai or Elise in the jungle. Their middle laner has picked Ryze extremely regularly recently and has shown great mastery of the champion, it’d come as no surprise to see it picked more however I’d like to see some adaption throughout the series. Their bottom lane will contest the Nami and Karma support picks in the bottom lane as they’ve also been able to make great use of those champions, as well as Ezreal as their marksman. I do however think they’re more likely to take Sivir as their marksman because of the utility it provides in the later stages of the game. After they’ve got their champions and are ready to get going I think they should try and reach for an early aggressive line of vision, this will open up great skirmishing opportunities for them in the earlier stages of the game and with how quick the reactions of G2 Esports can be they shouldn’t be at much of a risk. If they’re unable to find those early skirmishes then they might want to focus on propelling their top lane into a position of strength, it opens up the game for them if their opponents are unable to get through those top lane champions. To do this they’re going to need to throw some jungle pressure in the top lane and maybe throw down a bit more defensive vision on the bottom side of the map. A great way for them to come out on top of the game is to take advantage of their superior tempo, they can often rotate quickly and capitalise on the advantages that opens up. They should be able to create small sieging opportunities as well as opening good fights. There could be a few tough moments for them but they should be able to come out on top and then force Fnatic into a defensive position; this opens up objectives and effectively the base of Fnatic for them to take the game and begin contesting the series.

Prediction: Tied Victory. Both teams are fairly close in the standings, have been extremely troublesome to be taken down 2 times in a row and know how to adapt to their opponents. I think the first game is going to go in favour of G2 because of how aggressive they can be, which could catch Fnatic out, but after adaptions the series could balance out.

ROCCAT vs Giants EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 5Match #4: ROCCAT EU LCS Team Logo LoL ROCCAT vs. Giants EU LCS Team Logo LoL Giants

Start Time: June 30, 08:00 AM PDT/ 11:00 AM EDT/ 17:00 CEST

Both of these teams are currently by the bottom of the ladder, Roccat have taken a single victory and Giants managed to take 2 however Roccat are also sitting with 4 ties under their belt. This could be quite a closely knit series if both teams bring their A game. Roccat have been the more consistent of the 2 teams but Giants have been looking quite a bit stronger recently.

Prediction: Tied Victory. Roccat are the more consistent of the two teams but Giants can bring out some extremely strong performances, they were able to hold their own against Team Vitality recently which was a great showcase of their possibilities.

H2K Gaming vs Origen EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 5Week 5 | Day 1 – Match #5: H2K Gaming EU LCS Team Logo LoL H2K Gaming vs. Origen EU LCS Team Logo LoL Origen

Start Time: June 30, 10:00 AM PDT/ 01:00 PM EDT/ 19:00 CEST

Origen have been in a spot of bother since the beginning of the split, they started off rough and then had changes to their roster which only made things more difficult for them. They managed to improve and bring some exciting games but they’re still in a difficult position. H2k took a surprising loss on the 2nd day of Week 4 which could be the beginning to a downfall but they’ve looked fairly good so far this split and could bring things back into their favour.

H2k look to be at an advantage here but taking into account their most recent performances things could tip in the favour of Origen; this is depending on how strong Origen turns up on the day as they’ve been infrequent and their consistency is lacking. H2k have taken more victories, shown stronger performances and are in a good place to push their way up the ladder.

H2K Gaming EU LCS Team Logo LoLH2k have regularly picked both Trundle and Gnar in the top lane, they both have the potential to propel good performances but can fall short if they fall behind so they might need some early attention. They’re going to need some strong early pressure in the jungle to assist the lanes so an Olaf or Gragas could fit them perfectly, along with giving them a lot of options in the later stages of the game. The middle lane of H2k has shown a variety of champions already however I’d like to see them pick up Vladimir more often and attempting to utilize Ryze once more. Their duo lane has had a few strong performances on Ashe which works extremely well and oppressively when paired with a Zyra or Karma which I hope to make more appearances for them in the bottom lane. When they’re locked in and ready they should build a line of vision across the river and attempt to get a few aggressive wards placed, giving them a slight advantage when it comes to choosing their skirmishes. H2k are going to want to avoid their top laner falling behind, even falling behind a small amount in that lane could completely change this game so jungler focus there will be necessary in the earlier stages of the game. Sieging could come fairly easy to them in this match-up as their bottom lane is at an advantage, if they can use superior aggressive wards they should be able to clear up space to pick fights and proceed to siege or rotate at a higher tempo than their opponents to knock on turrets over time. This series could have a few rough patches for them if Origen are able to pull ahead at any point so they’re going to need to keep a close eye on objectives, their vision control and they’ll need to pick their engages wisely. They should be able to pull ahead and gain an advantage around the middle stages of the game and then it’s down to their decision making to propel them ahead. Their macro management will be extremely important during this match-up but if they utilize it properly they’ll be able to contest the series.

Origen - EU LCS Team LogoOrigen have shown their favourite supports recently when they regularly picked up Bard and Karma for the bottom lane, pairing either of those champions with an Ashe or Ezreal could give them great potency in the earlier and middle stages of the game. The middle lane of Origen has regularly picked Azir but has the ability to choose more niche picks such as Kassadin if the time arises; I hope to see some more Syndra from them at least. On the top side Origen are likely to pick a champion that is innately tanky but can also post a huge threat to their opponents, this will come best to them in the forms of a Jax, Irelia or Trundle. This will be partnered with a Reksai or Elise in the jungle which will help them pressure the earlier stages of the game and hopefully pull ahead. Once they’re on the rift they’re going to want to play passively in the earlier stages of the game, they should be able to pressure the top side of the rift with relative success but with their scaling and ability to team fight they’re going to want to avoid giving away an early lead. They should set up defensive warding around their lanes along with having some placed in and around the river, close to objectives if possible; if they look to take objectives they’re going to want to rotate their vision around and possibly get a few deep wards to alert them of incoming conflicts, avoiding these conflicts or playing around their opponents rotations could give potential to take a few strong engages later in the game. If they manage to maintain their pressure on the map they’ll be able to control and manage a few fights in the later stages of the game which will push them ahead, this will certainly be their opening to take a game and contest the series.

Prediction: H2k victory. With Origen being inconsistent they could have some extremely weak performances here which will hand H2k the series however if the strong Origen show up and they’re playing on point it could come as more of a challenge to H2k, I do still believe they’re the stronger and more consistent of the 2 teams and are the most likely to come out on top.
