G2 Esports - EU LCS team Logo

G2 Esports announced that Kikis is stepping down; Expect will be the new starting top laner from week 3 onwards.  After the team  initially agreed to their six-man roster for the Summer Split, Mateusz “Kikis” Szkudlarek made them choose between him and Ki “Expect” Dae-han for the top lane position. However, the team honored their agreement and decided to keep their roster. Therefore, Kikis resolved to step down from the starting roster and put himself as a substitute player. (Source)

Preview and Predictions

EU LCS Summer Split Week 3 – Day 2:

Day 1 of week 3 went mostly as I’d expected with a few tops and turns, nothing out of the ordinary as teams improve and progress in an attempt to make their way up the standings. For Week 3 Day 2 we’ll be focusing on Splyce vs. Fnatic along with Team Vitality vs. H2k; these are the chosen games because they follow the current top teams as well as teams being close in skill level and close on the standings. Make sure you tune in on Friday, June 17th, on both streams to catch all the action!

Unicorns of Love vs G2 Esports EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 3

Week 3 | Day 2 – Match #1: Unicorns of Love EU LCS Team Logo LoL  Unicorns of Love vs. G2 Esports EU LCS Team Logo LoL G2 Esports

Start Time: June 17, 08:00 AM PDT/ 11:00 AM EDT/ 17:00 CEST

Unicorns of Love took yet another loss and are sitting on a 1:0:4 score, not exactly the strongest position on the ladder, and they’ll be facing off against G2 who are yet to lose a series. Unicorns of Love aren’t in the best place here but we’ve seen this team pull off miracles. G2 Esports are a well-rounded and fairly consistent team who are in a position of power here, just hope that it doesn’t go to their heads.

Prediction: G2 Esports Victory. With there being such an apparent skill difference between these 2 teams, one sitting at the top whilst the other is at the bottom, I can only expect G2 to take both victories here and walk away with another series in their pocket.

Splyce vs Fnatic EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 3Week 3 | Day 2 – Match #2: Splyce EU LCS Team Logo LoL Splyce vs. Fnatic EU LCS Team Logo LoL Fnatic

Start Time: June 17, 10:00 AM PDT/ 01:00 PM EDT/ 19:00 CEST

Splyce have proven to be extremely adaptable but they’ve also been full of errors recently, nearly throwing matches against Giants wasn’t their best showing but they managed to come out on top of it in the end. Fnatic on the other hand have had more convincing victories and that’s why their current standing scores of 3:1:1 is above the 2:2:1 of their opponents. This could be quite a close match and it’s going to be interesting to see how well they adapt during the series.

I think Fnatic are at the advantage here, not only do they have the stronger standing currently on the ladder but they’ve shown more consistency and confidence in their performances. They’re less likely to make game changing mistakes however they’re not immune to the smaller mistakes that can still throw games.

Splyce EU LCS Team Logo LoLSplyce should aim to pick up the Rek’sai that was such a key component to them gaining early advantages against Giants on their day 1 performances. This will pair up nicely with a Trundle or Olaf in the top lane which will give them fantastic presence in skirmishes and team fights in the later stages. The middle lane of Splyce has shown a fantastically deep champion pool but I’ll be looking out for an Anivia pick from them, possibly the Fizz flex pick or even a Vladimir. Their duo lane hasn’t been the most exciting lately but they’ve been putting on fantastic performances with Ezreal paired with a Zyra or Thresh. Once they’re ready to go they should build a fairly default line of vision across the river, if they’re confident in their abilities earlier in the game they can use jungle pressure to force skirmishes; if that’s the case then a few wards in or around their opponents jungle will help them avoid any counter fighting or falling to a player disadvantage. Skirmishing in the earlier stages is definitely a way for them to gain a lead but it’ll be a challenge to do against Fnatic, I think they’d be better off with the safer option of scaling up, using jungle pressure around the lanes and abusing this jungle pressure to rotate around the map and gain control over objectives or choke points where they’re planning on creating fights. If they can gain control of a few areas of the map they will be able to force their opponents into a position of weakness, capitalise on it and gain control of larger portions of the map; this’ll slowly translate into pushing pressure and the ability to take and control fights more easily to walk away with a victory. They could change things up and adapt to a more skirmish oriented style for a second match to try and take away the series victory which is entirely possible for them.

Logo of LCS EU Team FnaticFnatic have shown a deeper champion pool in the top lane than I had originally anticipated, they’ve shown a few unique picks that I would like to make more appearances as their game impact can be significant. I’d like to see both Shen and Gnar in the top lane again but falling back on Irelia or Maokai is what I’d expect. Their middle lane also has shown versatile picks that can adapt to the styles of the teams so a Viktor or Ryze could fit multiple roles along with assisting with scaling and team fighting however if they’re going aggressive then a LeBlanc could always pop up. The jungle of Fnatic has often chosen picks that can pressure the earlier stages of the game, Nidalee is a strong pick along with Khazix; both of which I would like to see them pick up and thrive on again. This will all be rounded out by the bottom lane of Fnatic who will likely contest the Ezreal pick, falling back on Caitlyn or Sivir, which will be partnered with a Braum or Nami. When they’re on the rift they should try and set up a slightly aggressive line of vision, being careful as they do so. This would mean getting vision close to and around their opponents jungle to avoid any counter ganks; it can also be used to take aggressive rotations or for their jungle to catch out the opponents in a surprise skirmishes to gain a small edge. Their best way to take a lead is to either skirmish to gain small advantages and use them to pressure larger objectives or structures on the map or they can scale up slowly whilst trying to take those smaller advantages and take teams fights in the later stages of the game where they’ll be more confident and can work around their gained vision. Either option can work extremely well for them or if the first doesn’t work then they’ve always got the second game to perfect it; or they could shake things up and go with the second choice strategy. Because of these possible adaptions I think Fnatic are in a strong position to take a victory here and contest the series.

Prediction: Fnatic Victory. I think they’re in a stronger position here to take both games and although a tie is completely possible I believe that the adaption of Fnatic is greater than that of Splyce. They’ve shown stronger performances and I’m confident it’ll show in this series.

Giants vs Origen EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 3Week 3 | Day 2 – Match #3: Giants EU LCS Team Logo LoL Giants vs. Origen EU LCS Team Logo LoL Origen

Start Time: June 17, 12:00 PM PDT/ 03:00 PM EDT/ 21:00 CEST

If you’d have asked me about this match-up last split I’d have easily handed it over to Origen but they’ve looked rough recently. They’re sitting on a 1:2:2 score which is definitely better than the 1:0:4 of Giants but they’ve made mistakes that could give Giants a game. Giants had shown in day 1 that they’re not messing around, they’ll take advantage of any leads that they get a hold of but they’ll need to avoid any large mistakes to contest the series.

Prediction: Origen Victory. Although Giants have shown improvements and Origen have been looking a bit rough I think Origen are still the most favourable here; this is because they’ve still been able to maintain a fairly reliable skill level which has pressured many teams, those of which were able to take down Giants.

ROCCAT vs FC Schalke 04 EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 3Week 3 | Day 2 – Match #4: ROCCAT EU LCS Team Logo LoL ROCCAT vs. FC Schalke 04 EU LCS Team Logo FC Schalke 04

Start Time: June 17, 08:00 AM PDT/ 11:00 AM EDT/ 17:00 CEST

This here is one of the closer and more relevant matches of the day but there is going to need to be a significant amount of preparation after the day 1 performances. Both teams took a loss, not taking a single victory to tie a series, so they’re probably feeling rough. They’re close on the standings and this is the chance for one of these teams to take the next step forward and prove their strength.

Prediction: Tied Victory. With both teams being so close, fairly adaptable and showing improvement since the start of the split already I think they’ll both walk away from this series with a single win each, giving them a tied series. It’s not all bad though, just a baby step forward for both teams.

Vitality vs H2K Gaming EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 3Week 3 | Day 2 – Match #5: Vitality EU LCS Team Logo LoL Vitality vs. H2K Gaming EU LCS Team Logo LoL H2K Gaming

Start Time: June 17, 10:00 AM PDT/ 01:00 PM EDT/ 19:00 CEST

There are only a few differences between how these teams have been performing, with what happened on Day 1 things became even closer between both of these competing teams. Team Vitality is currently on a 1:3:1 score which is definitely relevant because H2k are only minor steps ahead on a 2:3:0 score. Whichever team manages to take the earlier lead and avoid crumbling under the pressure will be the most likely victors but mistakes can completely change a game and a series.

I think H2k are at an advantage here and on day 1 they managed to prove that they can contest the top places at the ladder when they managed to tie the series with G2 Esports. Team Vitality have been having a more difficult time coming out on top of a series and think it could end up being their downfall, especially here.

Vitality - EU LCS team LogoTeam Vitality are likely to try and pick up Irelia in the top lane, they’ve used it regularly recently and to great success, especially when paired with Gragas in the jungle because they’re both able to create a lot of pressure in team fights and can stay relevant in the game for a significant amount of time. The trinity force of solo champions will be finished off with a Zilean, Lissandra or even a Viktor, depending on the style in which Team Vitality are aiming to play. The duo lane of Team Vitality are likely to pick up Ashe during the series and will attempt to pair it with Karma as that pair of champions are able to thrive, if either is unavailable then we could see the likes of Caitlyn and Janna. When they’re on the rift they’re going to want to set up some strong vision around their lanes with a few scattered across the river, this will let them safely avoid any early movements from H2k and will give them time to scale up if they think it’s necessary. A focus in their top lane could be fantastic as their duo lane has often been able to survive and thrive without assistance. If there’s a jungle pressure focus in the top lane then they could create a snowball lead which will propel the team ahead and practically hand them the lead they need to take the game. If they’re unable to take such a lead through jungle pressure in the top lane then I’d expect there to be a fair amount of skirmishes before the teams start the 5v5 fighting. The team fights are likely to erupt as soon as 1 of the teams are confident in their lead and map control. If Team Vitality can take skirmishes, propel their top lane ahead or even gain map control then they’ll be in a dominating position to take a game and possibly even the series.

H2K Gaming EU LCS Team Logo LoLH2k have had a few oddball picks that are yet to show up on other teams but I’ve enjoyed them and would certainly love to see Draven make more appearances in the LCS, especially when paired with a Karma or Bard as those champions give Draven room to go aggressive. The top lane of H2k has picked Gragas on a regular basis and is a likely pick but Gnar could be another possible option, this is likely to be partnered with an Elise or Lee Sin in the jungle as they’ve been 2 of H2k’s most successful jungler champion picks. The middle lane of H2k has shown extreme comfort on Viktor, which is definitely the most likely middle lane champion pick for them, but has also shown great skill on Fizz which could be picked in the series to change things up and throw VIT off. When they’re locked in and ready to rumble they should build a line of vision across the river with a few pieces scattered close to their bottom lane. Team Vitality has a higher priority on their top lane and H2k could handle this in 2 ways, they could either counter-gank the top lane to try and repel the possible unforgiving pressure or they could pressure the opposite side of the map. I think they’d be better off pressuring the bottom lane to gain a lead there, it opens up the options for taking an earlier drake which could create a significant lead for them with a bit of luck. Sieging should come as no problem if they create space and a lead for their bottom lane and then rotate around the map. I think they’ll be able to gain a fairly significant lead before they need to actually take team fights, at which point their explosive power will show because of significant scaling. If they stick to a style of pressuring their most reliable and strongest lanes then I think they’ll be able to deal with a slightly behind top laner, this style of play does come with a few risks but the rewards can be fantastic and H2k are definitely capable of controlling the outcome of the game if they’re confident. If they adapt throughout the series to picks and style that Team Vitality show throughout the series then I think they’ll be able to easily contest the victory along with the series.

Prediction: Tied Victory. I think both of the teams are going to show great ability to adapt here, they’ve both got the potential to take the series and because of that I think both teams are going to walk away with a single victory and a tied series between them.

EU LCS Summer Split Week 3 – Day 1:

We’ve been met by a few ups and downs so far in the European LCS but things are finally starting to balance out. Some teams are climbing their way up and proving their value while others are falling under the pressure or the other competing teams. During week 3 day 1 we’ll be focusing on Team Vitality vs. Unicorns of Love along with H2k vs. G2 Esports, they seem like a few of the more balanced matches of the day and It’d be nice on a few of these competing teams. Make sure you tune in on Thursday, June 16th!

ROCCAT vs Origen EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 3

Week 3 | Day 1 – Match #1: ROCCAT EU LCS Team Logo LoL ROCCAT vs. Origen EU LCS Team Logo LoL Origen

Start Time: June 16, 08:00 AM PDT/ 11:00 AM EDT/ 17:00 CEST

Both teams are fairly close in the standings, Roccat have a victory under their belt and also an extra tie, with Roccat sitting on a 1:3:0 score and Origen on a 0:2:2. Things could get hairy between these 2 teams but it’s going to be a challenge, a bit of a power struggle to come out on top but only one of these teams can take that extra step forward.

Prediction: Tied Victory. I think both teams are going to be able to overcome their opponents throughout the series and take a win out of the series, I think it’ll end with a tied series because both teams appear fairly close in skill level and will challenge each other.

Vitality vs Unicorns of Love EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 3

Week 3 | Day 1 – Match #2: Vitality EU LCS Team Logo LoL Vitality vs. Unicorns of Love EU LCS Team Logo LoL  Unicorns of Love

Start Time: June 16, 10:00 AM PDT/ 01:00 PM EDT/ 19:00 CEST

Unicorns of love are the only team in this series’ that have taken a victory regardless of how much stronger Team Vitality has looked in comparison. Team Vitality haven’t managed to take a single series victory in their 4 games so far but they’ve taking 3 pretty convincing ties, this is either good news or bad news for them seeing as Unicorns of Love actually managed to close out one of their series’.

I’d stick with saying that Team Vitality are at an advantage here even though they’re yet to take a series win, this is because they’ve looked like a stronger team as a whole and the UoL victory was against a falling and failing Origen roster, who’d recently made changes. The Unicorns also have 3 losses under their belt whilst VIT have held their own in 3/4 of their series’.

Logo of LCS EU Team Unicorns of LoveUnicorns of Love are in a bit of a pickle but they’re going to want to try and get a hold of their most comfortable champions here. This means we’ll be looking at a Caitlyn paired with Karma in the bottom lane, which they have picked regularly, and a Rek’sai in the jungle. Their middle lane has consistently picked Yasuo but I think they’d be better off with the previously picked Viktor or an Anivia for later scaling and strong wave clear. Their top lane has picked a large variety of champions already but Maokai or Trundle is likely to be more consistent and reliable. When they’re ready to go they’ll want to get an early defensive line of vision around their lanes and through the jungle, close to their opponent’s jungle entrances if possible. Once they’ve acquired this vision they’ll be able to pressure the lanes fairly safely and farm up to scale. They’re going to need to scale, avoid early skirmishes and wait for the later stages of the game to pick team fights; this will be their most likely way to contest the game but it’s not going to be easy. They’re going to need to rotate often and try and get a good flank on their opponents, this will give them an advantage in the team fight and that particular team fight could be the moment where everything goes in favour of UoL. This will give them the lead they need to pressure objectives, siege and begin controlling the game. If they play patiently throughout this series and work around their champions scaling strengths they should be able to contest the series and possibly even take it.

Vitality - EU LCS team LogoTeam Vitality has had comfort on Olaf in the top lane and it’s honestly a fantastic pick but they’ve also used champions such as Gragas and Maokai which are still strong. This will be paired with an Elise or Kindred in the jungle which will assist in earlier pressure and team fighting. The middle lane of VIT has regularly picked Lissandra or Viktor which I expect to make more appearances. The bottom lane of VIT is where there’s been slightly more diversity, I think they’ll pick either Ezreal or Ashe as their marksmen which will be paired with a Karma or Bard. When on the rift they should look to get a slightly more aggressive line of vision than normal, this means getting vision around their opponent’s jungle entrances and possible some lurking wards throughout their jungle. This will give them information which could assist in forcing skirmishes or to avoid unwanted conflicts. They should be able to gain a small lead in the earlier stages of the game by forcing skirmishes and pressuring the lanes, this small lead will give them an advantage when it comes to taking objectives of sieging a bit earlier. With the added earlier pressure they should be able to slow down any scaling of their opponents, giving them a longer period of time to abuse any advantage they do make, this will set them up nicely to take down the base of their opponents and force fights for the game. If they hold up this slightly more aggressive and skirmishing style they should be able to take down UoL and come away with a victory in the series.

Prediction: Team Vitality Victory. I think they’re going to take their first series victory here, they’ve looked like a more stable and consistent team so far throughout the games they’ve played and even though they’ve not taken a series yet they’ve had quite a few tough opponents that they’ve tied with, of which UoL have had trouble with.

Splyce vs Giants EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 3

Week 3 | Day 1 – Match #3: Splyce EU LCS Team Logo LoL Splyce vs. Giants EU LCS Team Logo LoL Giants

Start Time: June 16, 12:00 PM PDT/ 03:00 PM EDT/ 21:00 CEST

Splyce have taken a single series victory so far this split, exactly the same as Giants, but they’ve also got 2 ties under their belt whereas Giants took 3 losses. Splyce have proven to be a fairly difficult team to overcome as they can adapt nicely throughout a series so Giants could be facing even more trouble as the split progresses.

Prediction: Splyce Victory. I think they’re going to come out on top of the series with a second series victory under their belt, they’ve proven to be a difficult team to overcome and they’ve got a respectable amount of strength which I think will be enough for them to come out on top.

Fnatic vs FC Schalke 04 EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 3

Week 3 | Day 1 – Match #4: Fnatic EU LCS Team Logo LoL Fnatic vs. FC Schalke 04 EU LCS Team Logo FC Schalke 04

Start Time: June 16, 08:00 AM PDT/ 11:00 AM EDT/ 17:00 CEST

Fairly close in the standings, Fnatic are going to need to overcome S04 here to take a leap forward on the ladder but S04 have been hitting hard so far during this split. S04 will be in a bit of a difficult position seeing as Fnatic are already higher up the ladder than them but this is the same Fnatic that have already fallen to ties and losses which they could do once again.

Prediction: Fnatic Victory. I think Fnatic are going to come out on top here because they’ve looked like the stronger team of the two. They’ve been handling series’ better than S04 and have taken more victories, I think they’re the stronger of the 2 teams and will be favoured in this series

H2K Gaming vs G2 Esports EU LCS Summer Split 2016 Week 3

Week 3 | Day 1 – Match #5: H2K Gaming EU LCS Team Logo LoL H2K Gaming vs. G2 Esports EU LCS Team Logo LoL G2 Esports

Start Time: June 16, 10:00 AM PDT/ 01:00 PM EDT/ 19:00 CEST

Certainly an exciting match and possible one of the best ones of the day, at least according to the ladder; H2k are sitting on a 2:2:0 score so they’re definitely up in the standings but is it enough to overcome the 3:1:0 or G2 Esports? G2 have looked fairly strong but have also shown that they’re not immortal, they can be taken down and this is H2k’s chance.

H2K Gaming EU LCS Team Logo LoLH2k are going to want to pick up a Gragas or Trundle in the top lane, keeping in mind that it’s likely to be facing off against an Irelia they might want to spend some time focusing on stabilising the top lane, this can be achieved with an earlier pressure jungler such as Lee Sin or Elise which have been used by the team previously. Their middle lane can flex pick the Fizz but I think a Viktor will be more reliable. The bottom lane of H2k has been extremely aggressive with Draven and Ashe which I expect to make more appearances along with Zyra and Karma as the support. When they’re on the rift they’re going to want to set up default vision around their primary lanes and the rest scattered near their opponent’s jungle and the objectives. They should focus on pressuring the bottom lane if possible; their potential picks have very dominating traits which could overpower the entire game if they get ahead. This could very well become the league of Draven if they can pressure enough with that particular lock in, pressuring G2 on a consistent basis should stall out the game for them to take an advantage, be it a fire dragon or a baron, which will propel them ahead in terms of potential pressure and will give them the opportunity to siege. If they take a hold of given opportunities they should be able to take and maintain a lead which will open up the game for them to take. This is how they’ll take a hold of the series.

G2 Esports - EU LCS team LogoG2 Esports are likely to lock in Irelia in the top lane, it’s made an appearance in their last 4 matches, 3 of which they’d won, and it’s been a comfortable pick for them. This is likely to be paired with an Elise or Gragas in the jungle for some early pressure and picking potential. Their middle lane has picked a large variety of champions already, some of which had more dominant performances, so a Zilean appearance or Vladimir is what I’d expect to see. Their bottom lane has picked Caitlyn in comfortable situations but I think Sivir could be a stronger pick for them depending on the situation, this paired with a Soraka or Nami could bring a very threatening team to the rift. When they’re ready they’re going to want to get a slightly aggressive line of vision but stick to default ward positioning, keeping them around the lanes and throughout the river should work well but getting a few wards in their opponents jungle will assist them in avoiding early pressure from their opponents and will also warn them of incoming flanks if they’re pushing. It’s very important that they get their top lane ahead, giving their top laner room to breathe will let them scale nicely to the point where their team fighting can overpower their opponents. To do this they’re going to need to throw some jungle pressure in the top lane and maybe throw down a bit more defensive vision on the bottom side of the map. Scaling their top lane and finding a good position on the map to start a fight is how they’re likely to take a hold of a lead and come out on top of their opponents, it’ll take time and patience but it’s certainly possible for G2 Esports.

Prediction: G2 Esport Victory. It could be quite a close series but I think G2 are the most likely victors. They’ve proven to be a strong and reliable team whereas H2k have had a few hard times already, I think G2 are going to come out on top of the series because they’ve proven to be one of the best teams European teams at this time.
