Preview and Predictions NA Semi-Finals Spring Playoffs 2016

Semi-Final #1: CLG - LCS NA Team Logo Counter Logic Gaming vs. Team Liquid - LCS NA Team Logo Team Liquid

Start Time: April 9th, 12:00 PM PDT/ 15:00 PM EDT/ 21:00 CEST

Team Roster and Players Stads CLG vs Team Liquid NA LCS Spring Playoffs 2016 Semi Final

Team Liquid outdid me expectations already, they had an extremely well done series against NRG Esports and although I don’t consider NRG to be the strongest team TL managed to take complete control of the matches and show how dominant they can be. Counter Logic Gaming are yet to show us their hand and they could have numerous things in store. I expect to see some thrills and some throws so make sure you tune into the games as they roll out on April 9th!

Logo of LCS NA Season 6 Spring Split Team LiquidTeam Liquid are going to want to get their middle laner on Azir if possible, he’s shown great proficiency on the champion before and it’s going to be a contested pick. If it’s not available then Zed or even Vel’Koz could be fantastic to cover the lane and apply pressure in team fights or across the lanes. Their jungler is going to want to pick up Lee Sin or Gragas for strong early pressure along with great team fighting potential, both of those picks have the potential to counter other strong jungle picks that are favoured at the moment. Their top lane is going to want to pick between Maokai, Ekko and Poppy just like many other top laners are the moment and the bottom lane is going to want to pair either Janna or Karma with a Kalista or Lucian. When they’re on the rift they’re going to want to take the lane swap and try and get their middle lane pressuring. If they can take an early rift herald they should be able to pressure more structures in the earlier stages of the game and start to deny vision to CLG. If they can deny vision they should be able to make picks with an assassin middle laner or rotate between the lanes to pressure structures with a control mage in the middle lane. A lot of their play style is going to revolve around their middle lane champion pick so it’s going to be fluid and be able to adapt throughout the series, this will let TL adapt their team to their opponent’s picks throughout the series.

Logo of LCS NA Season 6 Spring Split Team CLGCounter Logic Gaming are going to want to pick up the best suited champions for the meta that fit into their play style so I expect the Ekko top to be a priority for them here to fit into a split pushing style that can incorporate team fighting around objectives or when forcing skirmishes and fights. This paired with a Nidalee or Gragas in the jungle could apply a lot of pressure on the enemy top laner. Their middle lane is going to contest the Azir pick or fall back on Twisted Fate, possible Vel’koz. This lets them poke and pressure for stronger team fighting. Their bottom lane is going to pair a Lucian with a Soraka or Bard. Once they’ve completed their draft and made it onto the rift they’re going to want to pick early skirmishes, CLG have shown that they’re a team that can close out games and they’ve closed out game significantly quicker than Team Liquid so far this season however they’re going to want to watch out during 5v5 team fights as TL have fantastic team fighting. CLG are going to want to avoid the lane swap to pressure the TL bottom lane, playing the game out slowly and getting their top laner rolling. This will let them split push and pressure the 5v5 team fighting of TL, making them give up objectives for relatively low risk. They should be able to pull off a similar style of play throughout the series to give us some fantastic and close games.

Prediction: Counter Logic Gaming Victory. I think they’ll take the series 3:1. Team Liquid has shown that they can put on fantastic performances and they did so by taking down NRG with ease. This is a completely different matter now though, Counter Logic Gaming is a well-trained team that have had the time to adapt to their opponents and make the small improvements they need to take their 2nd split victory in a row.

Preview and Predictions | Day 2 NA LCS Spring Semi-Finals

Semi-Final #2: Team Immortals - LCS NA Team Logo Immortals vs. TSM - LCS NA Team Logo Team SoloMid

Start Time: April 10th, 12:00 PM PDT/ 15:00 PM EDT/ 21:00 CEST

Team Roster and Players Stads Immortals vs TSM NA LCS Spring Playoffs 2016 Semi Final

Team Solo Mid have shown us at the beginning of the NA LCS Spring playoffs that they’re significantly better than during the round-robin spring season. They have their sports psychologist at hand and it’s covering a lot of their communication issues, the team that’s stacked with talent is finally covering their issues. Immortals are 8 wins ahead of TSM in the regular split and only dropped a single game, could TSM come out on top against the spring split top team? Watch the games live on April 10th to see who comes out on top!

Logo of LCS NA Season 6 Spring Split Team LiquidTeam Solo Mid hit some issues during the spring split where their communication was obviously faulty, even when we were able to listen to their communication during the games through the Riot Games Mic Check we could hear the disputes between players and their shot-calling. This is now being covered and the team can finally thrive with the masses of talent in their roster. If they’ve improved as much as I think they have they’re sure to give IMT a rough time here.

Team Immortals - NA LCS team LogoImmortals are a team that ran into very few troubles during the spring split, they had a few close early games and even a few close matches but they were always able to comfortably come out on top and take nearly every single win. They’ve shown that they can get a bit greedy or overconfident at times but their ability to pressure the map and their individual mechanical skill is formidable. Coming out on top of the lanes isn’t even necessary for them so TSM are going to need to be careful around those objectives.

Team Solo Mid is likely to pick up Ekko, Maokai or even Gragas in the top lane for skirmishing and team fighting potential. Azir is going to be a contested pick between these middle lane players and it fits both of them fantastically, they’re close in CS/minute and a control mage would be extremely useful for TSM, if they don’t go for the Azir then I think they’ll go for Vel’koz or Zed. Their jungler is going to want to get his hands on one of the many ‘power picks’ currently available on patch 6.6 so Kindred, Nidalee or Graves could help apply early pressure. Their bottom lane has favoured Kalista even through her recent nerfs so I’m expecting that to be picked and paired with an Alistar or Braum. After the draft they’re going to want to take standard lanes and come out as close to even as possible with their jungler farming up and pressuring the top lane of IMT as he’s the most likely to over extend and die on Immortals. They’ll want to keep vision around the middle lane and watch for any flanks or roams whilst pressuring the outer structures with rotations throughout the lanes. If they can stay 1 step ahead of Immortals in the mid-game they should be able to find favourable skirmishes and fights where they manage to come out on top and start big pushes into the base of IMT or pressure large objectives such as Baron or building up to a 5th dragon. As long as they don’t get too overconfident they should be able to play it out slowly and methodically to gain an advantage and use it to pressure the map in many of the games throughout the series.

Immortals will undoubtedly look to pick up Ekko for the top lane, it’s likely to be a priority for them and if it’s not available then their top lane has a wide variety of champions he can pick such as Maokai, Yasuo and even Graves. This will be handily paired with a strong ganking jungler such as Gragas or even Kindred who scale nicely into team fights. Their middle lane has a very deep champion pool and can often shift the play style of the entire team; he’s going to hold a large portion of the team’s wave clear on a champion such as Azir, Twisted Fate or Corki. Their bottom lane is where they’re going to want some aggression so we could be looking at a Karma support, or another support with a lot of Utility such as Soraka or Janna, paired with a Sivir, Lucian or even a Jhin. Once they’re on the rift they’re going to want to take the lane swap and pressure the lanes, if they can deny the enemy jungler of any experience it’ll set them ahead in terms of tempo. Using small tempo advantages they’re going to want to take skirmishes that will be sustained with their utility, they should have an easier time in small skirmishes and will come out with small advantages. Using the tempo and small advantages they should aim to pressure structures or set up taking objectives. When it comes to team fighting they’re going to want to hold a strong front line whilst their marksman gets work done, the utility from their possible picks should give them advantages in drawn out fights so they’re going to want to stall and get as much out of their opponents as they can. After they’ve worn down the enemies they should be able to capitalize with global pressure, pushing structures and taking objectives which will eventually give them the victory. Holding a similar style of play throughout the series where they force long fights, where they’re at an advantage and pressuring objectives after said fights should give them enough room to take a lead and pressure the games throughout the series.

Prediction: Immortals Victory. I think they’ll take the series 3:1. Team Solo Mid have already shown great improvements with their team psychologist assisting cover their issues and I think they’ll show us a lot of improvements but it won’t overcome just how well Immortals have been able to perform, I think they’ll come out on top of the series with maybe a few hiccups.
