The International 2016 (TI6) is the sixth annual tournament hosted by Valve Corporation which also developed the well-known Dota 2 multiplayer battle game. It’s safe to say we’re looking forward to this year’s championship because the competition is going to be stronger than ever. As you already know, 16 teams will play at the tournament.
On March 31, 2016, the Valve Corporation revealed the first details about The International 2016. The open qualifiers for the TI6 were held between June 21 and June 24 and they gave us the very first winners of the season.
The format was simple: eight Regional Single-elimination open qualifiers with two brackets for each region. The winners are:
- Europe: Team Secret, Fantastic Five
- Southeast Asia: White Fries Gaming, TNC Gaming
- Americas: Evil Geniuses, Void Boys
- China: Vici Gaming, Newbee Young
Immediately after the open qualifiers finished, the regional qualifiers began (June 25 – June 28). The regional qualifiers featured one group wherein the winners secured their place in the final while teams from second to fifth place advanced to Double-elimination Playoff bracket. The winner of each bracket automatically qualified for the grand finale that everyone is waiting for.
Although both of these events provided a lot of action and interesting developments, everyone’s patiently waiting for the main event – The International 2016. Well, you won’t have to wait for too long because the event of the season will be held between August 8 and August 13.
TI6 – Ticket info
Tickets for one of the most anticipated events of the year went on sale on April 7th, but this year there are some changes that you will definitely like. The competition will offer two ticket options. They are:
- The Midweek ticket – grants attendance to the first 4 days of the event (August 8 – August 11). This ticket also includes the All-Star game and the opening ceremony. If you’re interested into this ticket option, the price is about $75
- The Finals ticket – grants access to the last two days of the tournament (August 12 and August 13). If you want to be a part of grand finale, you’ll have to pay about $100.
It’s important to mention that you can purchase both ticket options in a single order. Also, if you buy Midweek ticket, that doesn’t mean you have to leave Seattle right after. The Valve Corporation will provide large outdoor viewing for free on the KeyArena’s grounds. You’ll be able to witness all the action outside the venue with other Dota 2 enthusiasts.
If you’re still debating with yourself whether to get a ticket or not, here’s a great reason to do so – some of the most unique in-game items will be dropped to audience members in the arena. For example, during the First Blood in every individual game, 500 exclusive Attendee Treasures will drop. The Attendee Treasures will contain visually-unique versions of Secret Shop Immortals. You should have a badge connected to the Steam account in order to be eligible for these unique items. Of course, being present at the First Blood is mandatory.
There aren’t too many tickets left, so you should hurry and get your own before all of them are sold out. Click on this link to get your ticket.
When it comes to the venue, the Valve Corporation didn’t make any changes. They decided to host The International 2016 in Seattle’s KeyArena for the third time in a row. The arena was opened back in 1962, and now it’s the home of NBA’s Seattle Redhawks, basketball team of the Seattle University.
