TI5-Group-Stage-Day-3 PredictionsTI5 – Group Stage Day 3 – Schedule & Predictions

With day 2 in the books, we look ahead to day 3. With teams now in the swing of the tournament and used to the process, we should see some quality games and some good matchups. Day 3 is often a turnig point day in the tournament, as teams now know what to expect from the other teams and begin to pull out their pre-made strategies, especially teams feeling the pressure after a disappointing start.

TI5-Banner bet-at-home-5-EUR-no-deposit promoBoth Cloud 9 and Invictus Gaming have a chance to pull themselves back into the top 8 depending on, ironically, who wins their head-to-head matchup. After an early showdown with each other, they both have series against SEA Qualifiers MVP Phoenix, who are likely just happy to be here at this point. On the flip side, both Complexity and CDEC, two relative underdogs who are off to great starts, might just get a dose of reality tomorrow and come crashing back down to earth. Complexity has a date with Team Secret, while CDEC meets up a pair of Chinese teams in the form of defending champions, Newbee, as well as Vici Gaming.

Taking a look at the rest of the schedule for day 3, there are a few games that immediately jump out at you.

Match #1: TI5 team secret Team Secret vs. TI5 LGD gaming LGD Gaming | 9:00 PDT / 18:00 CEST

Right off the bat we have the clash of the titans. Representing the western scene, Team Secret has had an unbelievable 2015 and has, more or less, carried that momentum into TI5. They will face off against the xiao8-led LGD Gaming. Both teams sit atop the overall standings at 7-1, with 10 points. Could we be seeing a sneak-preview of the grand finals with this day three matchup

TI5-Group-Stage-Day-3-Predictions-pinnacle-betsTeam Secret looks unstoppable, as they have for much of 2015. They have no real weakness, and it doesn’t seem like you can ban against them either. Masters of the draft, and masterclass execution; they are definitely the team to beat at this year’s International (TI5).

LGD Gaming came in with much less fanfare, but after picking up former Newbee captain, and TI4 winner xiao8, they are, perhaps, the number 2 team in the world right now. Recognized and respected as “the best player in China” by many players (directly quoted from the VG team), xiao8 has drafted, executed, and led the way for LGD Gaming’s rise to the top. Is it enough to overcome the dominance of Team Secret though?

Taking a look at the odds, Team Secret is heavily favored to at least split the series, probably rightfully so. Anyone willing to bet against Team Secret at this point is just launching up a hope and a prayer. You probably won’t see this kind of value for the remainder of the tournament though, where you get a top 3 or 4 team at nearly 8 to 1 odds to win 2-0. Perhaps LDG Gaming can pull off the upset and net you a nice little purse.

Match #8: TI5 MVP Phoenix Dota2 team MVP.Phonex vs. TI5 Invictus Gaming Invictus Gaming | 13:00 PDT / 22:00 CEST

Another game that is interesting, from a betting perspective, is Invictus Gaming vs MVP.Phoenix. The Chinese side has underperformed so far, but they have had a relatively tough schedule up to this point. There is a little value to be had, as people are tending to now overlook the veteran Chinese team. A matchup against lowly MVP.Phoenix might just be the remedy that they need to snap back to contender status.

While you do have to eat some juice, Invictus Gaming at -217 should still be enough to entice the majority of the bets. IG is a good team that has struggled so far. They are facing off against one of the weakest teams in the tournament and you are only paying a little more than 1 to 2 odds for it. Plus, IG have something to prove. They need to redeem their start if they want to go deep in TI5. A lot of factors set up for a good showing from Invictus Gaming.

Meanwhile, MVP Phoenix are performing about as well as expected. Having to qualify into the group stages, they no doubt are excited to even be on the big stage. It feels like the qualifiers were their Championship, and now everything they get on top of it is simply a bonus. While they are, for sure, going to give their best effort, it feels like the overwhelming individual skill level and experience difference on the side of IG will prevail in this matchup.
