Day 1 was the last day of Manila Major for 4 teams that started from the Lower Bracket. This Bracket is now looking much scarier as some of the best teams have joined. Surprisingly, Team Liquid has now to give everything to stay alive in this tournament. This is something that probably wouldn’t have happened if they didn’t had to play MVP Phoenix in the first round, but that’s how Dota works. After this victory, the Koreans are feeling stronger than ever. QO said in an interview previous to the Major “If we can beat Liquid, we can win the entire tournament”, so we can expect that they will be playing with the moral up for the rest of this competition. MVP Phoenix has real possibilities to take the entire tournament, but they will have to face OG first and probably Newbee in the Upper Bracket before they’re able to reach the Grand Final. This is going to be a tough tournament, and any of these teams could win. It will all come down to having a good execution, superior drafting and a little bit of luck.
The Manila Major – Main Event Day 2 Match Predictions and Betting Odds
Day 2 – Manila Major – Match Betting Odds
Predictions Upper Bracket
Match #1: Newbee vs. Digital Chaos
Newbee are China’s new weapon. They’ve been able to beat every team that approaches them –with the exception of Liquid in EPICENTER and Wings in the Summit 5–. This team has 3 TI winners playing for them. Not only that, but these are TI winners that are playing really well together. They play almost perfectly and their lack of bad decision making is their main weapon.
Digital Chaos has been playing a lot of qualifiers lately, which means that they’ve been playing against weaker tier 2 teams. They still lack the practice of going against the top teams in the world. This is going to be a difficult match for them, but they don’t lack players with this kind of preparation.
Predictions: Newbee has become the nightmare of western teams, similarly to what EHOME represented during the first International. This is where Digital Chaos will have to show us what they’re made of for the first time since their roster change.
>> Result Prediction: (2-0) Newbee
Match #2: LGD vs. Fnatic
LGD wasn’t looking so good until they won ESL One Frankfurt Chinese Qualifier, similarly to Na’Vi. This Chinese team is looking to give us a surprise in this tournament to show us that they’re now one of the strongest team. Or they will just lose early. There is a lot to see about this team before we can make a decision whether they have high chances or not of finishing in the top places.
Fnatic as quickly escalated into becoming a scary team. Their domination against MVP Phoenix and against other more experienced team is making them outstand from the rest. They still lack something to beat the most important teams when it matters, but this match does not look that hard for them.
Predictions: Fnatic has showed great individual skill and team cohesion, and they are looking really hard to beat. LGD still has good chances of taking this series, but Fnatic’s victory seems more likely.
>> Result Prediction: (2-1) Fnatic
Predictions Lower Bracket
Match #3: Team Liquid vs. Complexity
Beating Wings Gaming was already a tough task for Complexity, and it probably was a blessing that they had to do it just once in a Bo1 series. However, this match will be completely different. This is a Bo3 game that will take everything they had, as Team Liquid is the strongest opponent they’ve faced in a long time.
Prediction: Team Liquid is still one of the favorite teams in the tournament, and they still have good chances of winning this. They’re probably the strongest team in the Lower Bracket, and Complexity doesn’t look close to be as strong as them.
>> Result Prediction: (2-0) Team Liquid
Match #4: Natus Vincere (Na’Vi) vs. Alliance
Na’Vi managed to go to the Upper Bracket without losing any game. However, they played in one of the weakest group and they have now dropped against OG 2-0. They are still playing much better than two months ago. This has led a lot of people to claim that Na’Vi is back, although they still need a lot of work to do.
Alliance started off this patch on the right foot, but they haven’t had good games lately. Some crucial mistakes made them start from the Lower Bracket, and now they are in a tough position where even beating Na’Vi is going to be a hard task.
Prediction: There was a time when Na’Vi vs. Alliance was considered “El Clasico”, which used to mean that this was one of the most entertaining and closest matchups you could watch. This is still a really entertaining match to watch because these two teams are around the same level right now. However, Na’Vi seems to be on the uprise lately while Alliance has been going downhill. The Ukrainians are in a good mood and have gained a lot of confidence lately, and it shows during their games. They should win this Bo3, although it will be a close one.
>> Result Prediction: (2-1) Na’Vi
