With an increase in the NA LCS prize pool we’re hoping to see more phenomenal games by the teams and players as the season progresses. We’re heading into 2017 with a huge array of changes made to the rosters of the performing teams so we’re going to need to break it all down. This Season for North America will retain it’s best of 3 format, which has been working very well for them, but the biggest changes made in the region had to be the rosters of the performing teams. Besides this some smaller changes to the format and rules have been announced by Riot Games. Not only that, we’ll be seeing some fresh teams performing; but will they be able to keep up with the power house teams that are already looking to push to the top of the ladder? So lets take a look at the teams and players competing in the 2017 NA LCS Spring Split:

Notable Achievements: 10 th Place NA LCS Spring Split, 5 th Place IEM Season X – Cologne
Dignitas have been a fairly difficult team to follow, they’ve made some huge roster changes though and hopefully it puts them on a good streak at the start of the season! They’ve got stacked talent and will be looking to make an impact. Ssumday will be covering the top lane and will be assisted by Chaser in the jungle. Keane is taking control of the middle lane and LOD will be covered by Xpecial in the bottom lane. This team is slowly converting to a non-American team but they’re about to take control of the NA LCS.
- Top Lane: Ssumday
- Jungle: Chaser
- Mid Lane: Keane
- Marksman: LOD
- Support: Xpecial
Notable Achievements: Qualified NA LCS Regional Qualifiers 2016, 2 nd Place 2016 NA LCS Summer Playoffs
Cloud9 are a beloved team, they’re constantly under watch and they’ve got one of the most passionate fan bases of any Esports team. They’ve constantly been putting up fantastic performances and remain to be fairly consistent; they’ve had a few rough patches but have always been able to bring it back. Their roster has stuck together so we’ll still be seeing the same old team but hopefully they’ll be having more of an impact than ever before! With other teams fighting for players to pick up they’ve been able to put in extra time to practice.
- Top Lane: Impact
- Jungle: Contractz
- Mid Lane: Jensen
- Marksman: Sneaky
- Support: Smoothie
Notable Achievements: 4 th Place 2016 NA LCS Summer Playoffs, 4 th Place 2016 NA LCS Summer Split, 2 nd Place 2016 Mid-Season Invitational
Counter Logic Gaming are a regular for taking a top position on the ladder, during 2016 they were a bit shy of pushing for the top 3 though! Their spring performances were phenomenal and other competing teams were having a hard time but as summer came around they were in shock. They’ve not announced any roster changes yet and time’s disappearing. They’re sticking with their roster but they’ve picked up a new Esports Director who will hopefully push the organization in the right direction during 2017.
- Top Lane: Darshan
- Jungle: Xmithie
- Mid Lane: HuHi
- Marksman: Stixxay
- Support: Aphromoo
Notable Achievements: 4 th Place IEM XI Gyeonggi, 3 rd Place 2016 NA LCS Summer Playoffs, 2 nd Place 2016 NA LCS Summer Split
Immortals were a phenomenal team that always managed to push for the top. They’ve been hit with a lot of changes though! Players have left the team looking for new adventures but with such an outstanding track record and a very supportive organisation the roster quickly rebuilt. We’ll now be watching Flame cause damage in the top lane, assisted by Dardoch in the jungle. Pobelter is still controlling the middle lane but their bottom lane has changed to Cody being supported by Olleh. This team looks great on paper but we’ll need to wait for Season 7 to see how it translates!
- Top Lane: Flame
- Jungle: Dardoch
- Mid Lane: Pobelter
- Marksman: Cody Sun
- Support: Olleh
Notable Achievements: 6 th Place 2016 NA LCS Summer Playoffs, 6 th Place 2016 NA LCS Summer Split
Team EnVyUs are still a pretty fresh team but we’ve all seen them perform extremely well. They may not be the most consistent but a few changes could knock them into tip top shape. Their final roster is yet to be confirmed and they’ve been a bit in the dark about roster changes. They’ve recently lost their Marksman “LOD” to Team Dignitas and are yet to announce their full line-up. They’ve still got extremely talented and adaptable players ready to burst into 2017 though!
- Top Lane: Seraph
- Jungle: Procxin
- Mid Lane: Ninja
- Marksman: Apollo
- Support: Hakuho
Notable Achievements: 4 th Place IEM XI Gyeonggi, 5 th Place 2016 NA LCS Summer Split, 4 th Place 2016 NA LCS Spring Playoffs
Team Liquid is considered “Cursed”, which seems Ironic now. They’ve always had a difficult time pushing past 4 th place but now they’ve got some news and new motivation. The roster changes made to Team Liquid look extremely promising and the players that remained on the team are likely to be excited to compete as we are to watch. At the end of November 2016 Team Liquid signed their players and are eagerly practicing for Season 7’s arrival.
Update: Piglet switches to midlane and Youngbin is the new AD-Carry for Team Liquid.
- Top Lane: Lourlo
- Jungle: Reignover
- Mid Lane: Piglet
- Marksman: Youngbin
- Support: Matt
Notable Achievements: 4 th Place IEM XI Oakland, 1 st Place 2016 NA LCS Summer Split, 1 st Place 2016 NA LCS Summer Playoffs
Team Solo Mid are often considered the most popular Esports, or at least League of Legends Esports, organisation around which means they’re constantly being written or spoken about. Because of this there was a lot of talk about their roster change but taking into consideration how open they were about it they’ve certainly gained a lot of respect. Doublelift has stepped down as their ADC but they quickly found a replacement in WildTurtle who’s made a move back to the team! This was the only announced roster change and I’m eager to see how well they perform together once again!
- Top Lane: Hauntzer
- Jungle: Svenskeren
- Mid Lane: Bjergsen
- Marksman: WildTurtle
- Support: Biofrost
Notable Achievements: Not Available
The FlyQuest (Milwaukee Bucks) are the centre of a lot of conversations right now. They’ve not got a completed roster and are a team who had their position bought. They’ve stuck with the majority of the Cloud9 Challenger team’s roster but with Hai bouncing between playing and retiring the roster could be looking at more issues. They’ve yet to announce a jungler too! But with many talented players being available I hope they’re able to make announcements soon and give us some phenomenal games as we head into 2017!
- Top Lane: Balls
- Jungle: Moon
- Mid Lane: Hai
- Marksman: Altec
- Support: LemonNation
Notable Achievements: Qualified 2017 NA LCS Spring Promotion Tournament, 8 th Place NA LCS Summer Split
Phoenix1 haven’t had the greatest impact so far, their competitive history is certainly lacking. But this could all change very quickly as we head into Season 7. They’ve made a mass of roster changes and with their new and extremely talented team we could be looking at a Phoenix reborn. With a bit of Immortals talent sprinkled into their roster I hope we see changes made to their macro management, this could set them apart from the bottom of the ladder as they make a climb.
- Top Lane: Zig
- Jungle: Inori
- Mid Lane: Ryu
- Marksman: Arrow
- Support: Adrian
Notable Achievements: Qualified 2017 NA LCS Spring Promotion, 7 th Place NA LCS Spring Split
Echo Fox have had an extremely hard time in the NA LCS. They’ve got a few talented players left in their roster but are yet to disclose the full team. This leaves us with a lot of unanswered questions but hopefully we’ll stay as bright eyed as their middle laner “Froggen” as we head into Season 7 with this team. They’ve always had a lot of substitute players available and with there being even more talent available to pick up I’m sure they can come up with something as we head into 2017.
- Top Lane: Looper
- Jungle: Akaadian
- Mid Lane: Froggen
- Marksman: Keith
- Support: Gate
